Anniversary Sale !

The lesson to be learned - check your fares with the announcement of each new promotion. I usually do a cursory check myself then email my PCC for confirmation of anything that looks promising. As another poster has said, they have far too many people to take care of to automatically check every client's fare.

Is the $100 Beverage Card one per stateroom, or one per person?

Cindy

Per stateroom - or $50 per person if you will.

Last cruise I was supposed to get two $50 cards, but it my stateroom there was just one $100 one, no big deal for me as my wife is not much of a drinker. As they say "More for Me!"

Has anyone ever noticed if the price of the cruise comes down during a promotion?

I love this. Our cruise went up $600 pp on the day the anniversary special was posted. We have $237 pp. SBC from booking and would lose this also. No need to bother to get the promotion since we lose more than we would gain even with the tips.

Follow up on the fares increasing sometimes when a sale runs. We also received an email for a private sale and those prices were even higher than we originally booked. I guess we have a little more time to watch the fares closer than some. I imagine that's why HAL has sales like this sometimes. Buyer beware.

Believe it or not, "the anniversary special's" are not for those of you who have already booked a cruise, but for those of us who are looking for a future cruise. It just so happens that two of the cruises we are considering are a good deal for us. Also recently we received private sale promotion that also had several good deals for us, except for us not being able to travel right now, we would have liked to take advantage of one of them. Maybe next time. We are looking at Australia or Hawaii (hint to Hal).

Believe it or not, the Anniversary Sale is for anyone, already booked or not. It may not be financially advantageous for all existing bookings, but as already demonstrated, it not just for those of you who looking for a future cruise.

I've never gone wrong by booking early to get our cabin choice, then monitoring "Sales" as the months count down. I've watched the price of our suite double over 10 or 11 months due to high demand, and I've had fares drop and have picked up some HAL promo extras by re-booking. I use a HAL PCC for bookings, price checks, and re-bookings when advantageous. Shortly before final payment is due, I have our "final" booking transferred to our TA to take advantage of their perks, usually about 8.7% of the fare in additional OBC.

Please don't tell HAL that my PCC wrangled me these perks. I wouldn't want him to get in trouble! :p

I lucked out even though my fare went up $50 pp and lost my $200 OBC. Free gratuities for a 33 day cruise is $825 and the $100 beverage card certainly worked out for me. I did have give an additional $1150 deposit though. I had booked when there was a special $300 pp deposit.

Just wanted to say thanks to everyone on this thread. I had received the email and was mulling things over, this discussion pushed me to tell my DH let's book now I think we can get a great deal. And so I did. Price of the cruise I was looking at hadn't gone up and the 200 free Internet minutes sealed the deal for DH. We're on our way to Antarctica!

If you don't mind me asking, did your new booking confirmation show the credit for the free gratuities? Mine only show the OBC and beverage cards.

Another "hopeful" here! We're booked on the Dec. 31st Eurodam Tropical Caribbean 7 day. It wasn't eligible for the View and Verandah Sale when we booked, but now looks like we are eligible for the Anniversary Sale. The prices I see are a little higher than when we booked. I've emailed our TA, and anxiously await her reply! I'll keep you posted.

Cindy

Update: We have 3 cabins booked; with ours already having a "casino offer discount", the sale did not benefit us. But our sons' cabins had only increased $20 per person since booking, so for them, it was worth it to re-fare and get the free gratuities and beverage cards. Our TA took care of it today! Happy!:)

We just got our paperwork today. Yes, it shows pre paid gratuities! It was the first thing I looked for. 48 days adds up.

Cheers, Denise

Yes it does. On page two it says pre-paid hotel svc charge promo...

Funny enough, a cruise I have had my eye on - the 30 day Japan, S. Korea and transpacific crossing - is priced now $500 LESS per person on this anniversary sale. Add to that paid gratuities for two - that is $700 in savings on top of the price reduction! The $100 beverage card is just a little more icing on the cake.

Is this April 2017 Volendam? On the european website that cruise is not included in the sale.

Simultaneously, with your 'Anniversary Sale', Europeans have a different promo 'Ready to Cruise'. Similar, but subtly different, as the hotel service charge is not free, but only an amount of OBC is given!

FREE Up to US$400 Onboard Spending Money*

FREE or Reduced Fares for Friends & Kids*

PLUS, receive 200 FREE Internet Minutes and up to US$500 FREE Onboard Spending Money for suites*

yes the Volendam April 2017.... in North America it is on "the list" applicable for anniversary sale....Perhaps it is not selling as well here as in Europe? therefore no promo?

I had an Explore 4 promo booked and when this Anniversary Sale came up I went online and compared. I ended up saving $700 and that's before the prepaid gratuities. I switched and kept the same cabin too.

I'm pretty happy about it. I don't drink all that much so losing the free beverages was not that big a deal, plus we get the $100 beverage card on this new deal.

It pays to pay attention!!
