Elite Happy Hour

Can anyone recently off of the Reflection comment on the status of the Elite happy hour? Didn't they offer vouchers for a while there? I only ask as we were recently on the Reflection and did not hear or see a thing about it. Perhaps the notice was in the daily and we just missed it. Thanks,

I think it depends on the number of elites on board. If it's a manageable number, they have the party; if it's huge (like on TA's), they use the coupons.

We were on Reflection March 5 to 12. They were not using vouchers. But it does depend on how many Elite and Elite plus they have onboard.

You did not miss seeing anything as it is not announced in the daily. If using coupons they are on the bed in your cabin according to Captains Club status along with the other coupons. If there is a party it is announced accordingly, just like the Elite breakfast.

Use of vouchers depends on number of elites and is the last option. Cocktail party is the first option and this can change from week to week on the same ship.

I understand, but I think we still should have received some sort of notification.

They notified you of the elite perk they were offering on your cruise. There is no official statement on celebrity's web site or anywhere else about their offering coupons in lieu of or in addition to the party.

I don't understand why you have a problem....you got exactly what celebrity offers.

I guess we got nada. We thoroughly went through all the printed material in the cabin when we first arrived and never saw anything related to cocktails.

Elites receive a single sheet of paper with elite events and the cocktail party hours/days on it. If you received the elite coupons, you should have received the sheet. If you didn't get that sheet, then as an experienced celebrity cruiser (after all you are apparently elite), you should have gone to the captain's club host/hostess and asked when the elite events were being held.

I fail to see why you feel you have a problem.

We were on the Reflection March 5-12,2016. Very few Elites on board so

evening drinks in Sky Lounge. At no time did we count more than 20

People in Sky Lounge.

We've always had coupons in the past, I think I prefer the coupons and

Live without the Hor d'ourves.

Exactly, you were notified by this letter telling you where the event was for your particular cruise. That is your notification.

We were onboard on the 5th & 12th cruise and the elite party was held in the sky lounge both weeks, week one there was 235+- & week 2 was 200+- elites & above! I think it's generally only the transatlantic cruises when the numbers are high that they use the vouchers... From our experience any way! [emoji4]

Wow.

Some people seem to want someone to personally come and hand them the coupons. Let's see if they are Elite they have been either in a couple of very expensive suites - in that case they actually might not know - or they have cruised for at least 60-100 days. After that many cruises one would hopefully be aware of the perks for Select and Elite and if they did not receive notification politely ask.

Last TA we were on had over 50% Elites. Coupons were great.

You got the Welcome Letter with your sheet of coupons right? The one that outlined the morning breakfast? And the other Elite events? It was on that letter

NO. That's exactly my point. We never got ANY kind of welcome letter. I really didn't/don't care about any sort of cocktail hour for Elites, so I didn't notice the oversight until doing some "reading" on this site and thinking back on our recent cruise. I've never even been to one of those things as we really aren't interested in that sort of thing.

Anyone who stumbles across this thread, please carefully read my original comments. I only called it "Elite Happy Hour" as I didn't know what else to call it, and I certainly DO NOT HAVE A PROBLEM as was stated by someone in an earlier reply. Whoever suggested that I have some sort of elitist attitude should take off the hair shirt and take a deep breath. My goodness, I asked a simple (I thought) question, you've got no cause to jump all over me.

PS What's this about a 'morning breakfast?'

PSS I also enjoyed the comment about politely asking someone if I didn't get notified. Exactly how does that work? [For the slow ones out there...... how could I possibly ask about something I didn't know about?]

When in doubt, we always find the CCH during their hours to ask questions. The "elite" breakfast has been held for quite a few years as I recall. Sometimes it is held in one of the specialty restaurants and sometimes in a section of the MDR. It consists primarily of a continental type breakfast but you can also have specialty coffees and some alcoholic type drinks such as mimosos, champagne, bloody mary's. It is quite nice. Is this one of your first cruises as "elite"?

Did you get the coupon sheet. Coupons for laundry, casino, spa etc? Did you sign on to Internet to use your free minutes?

Was this your first cruise as Elite? Your first cruise on Celebrity? Did you know about Captains Club celebration etc? If your first then I guess I could see how you might not know, but otherwise you have been Select member already and would know what to expect by way of coupons, welcome letter, etc

Captains Club host/hostess would be the one to contact if you were overlooked in getting the Captains Club benefits.

I'm guessing that perhaps the OP is Elite by way of Diamond on Royal and thus might not be familiar with what to expect. On Celebrity, your Welcome letter and accompanying sheet of coupons are generally on your bed on embarkation day, along with a card telling you about dining, the first Daily, and various other announcements. This is the only invitation you will generally receive, although occasionally I have gotten a prerecorded phone message reminding me about the Captains Club Celebration event, they do not announce the Elite events (breakfast, cocktail hour, backstage tour, wine tasting and others) in the Daily.

On upcoming cruises, if you don't get the coupons and Welcome letter, just see the Captains Club desk for a replacement.

Just to confirm. Are you saying you did not get any coupons for Internet, laundry, etc.?

If not did you cabin card have Elite on it? Did you get a rose on the Chic night?

I am guessing that your cabin steward made a mistake and did not give you the information or the system did not have you listed as Elite status. Do you know you have to call even if you are Diamond on RCL?

Obviously something was not as expected in your situation. I have always received by Status coupons and welcome letter outlining the special events. I suspect you may not have realized what it was.

Now that you are better informed you will know to ask next time.

The information would have been on the same sheet letting you know about the repeat cruisers party with the Captain. Did you not go to it either?

ps: Did you ever inquire at the front desk, or with the CC Hostess?

We just got off the Silhouette two weeks ago...

As always, there were two things in our cabin awaiting us due to our Elite Plus status...

1) A printed letter outlining all of the Elite/Elite Plus events including the where and when on the Elite Continental Breakfast and the Elite Drinking hours.

2) A sheet of coupons including the laundry coupons, the "Free gelato" coupon, etc.

My Sister and Brother-in-law (Elite CC), on the cruise with us, had, basically, the same two things except, their coupons were only the "Elite" level coupons.

Everything was pretty much the same as EVERY Celebrity cruise--

Elite Breakfast in Tuscan Grille

Elite Drinking hours (5-7) in Sky Lounge.

Originally, drinking hours were held in Michael's...but the last several years, they've moved it to Sky...

We've NEVER had a cruise where they've used vouchers. I think those are rarely used except on Transatlantics with too large a number of Elites.

Vouchers would have been worthless on this last cruise or on the next...We've had the all-inclusive drink packages as well due to recent promotions. The advantage of the Elite lounge is the better service. When I visited the open bars for drinks while on the cruise, it was often hard to get a server's attention--so many people had the drink package...but, in Sky during the drinking hours, the service was, as usual, incredible. I hope I never have to deal with the vouchers.

BTW, we only went once to the Elite Breakfast...Problem is that it is a limited breakfast--no eggs, omelets, pancakes, french toast, etc. I'd rather have the full menu in the main dining room.

If, for any reason, I did not receive the welcome letter in my cabin, I would merely call or visit the CC hostess...or...just show up at the Tuscan Grille for Breakfast or Sky for drinks anyway...my ship card said "Elite Plus Member" on it and that's all I need for access.

There was no welcome letter with a schedule of events for past cruisers. We did receive 2 sheets of Elite coupons for use on the ship but no letter. We used up both of the 90 minute internet coupons just checking email as the internet was terribly slow. We are Elite with Celebrity and separately Diamond with RCL, have been for many years. We usually don't go to these planned events, but it's nice to be invited, just as we don't go to the mix and mingle thing, but I always signup as I know others like them and our signup counts as 2 more towards the 25 minimum. I sometimes find others wanting to share too much information......things I don't care to know. We did go to some sort of a 'meet the crew' cocktail function, but quickly found that the crew didn't really care about what we had to say even when we were asked our opinions. After reading something here on cruise critic, I thought back on our recently completed Reflection cruise and realized we didn't get any of the usual invites. I didn't think about it then - only afterward. It's no big deal, as we really don't care much for that sort of thing, just nice to be invited is all. Might have been a slip up by our cabin attendant, no worries as he was the best we've had. We enjoy the prepaid cocktail packages, so free booze doesn't hold much allure for us. I have to admit, I was not aware there was any kind of breakfast get together in the Tuscan Grill.

We travel with friends alot, but when it's not possible my wife and I enjoy each other's company and have for 43 years, she likes to say 'we don't play well with other kids.' I agree.

Just a thought, perhaps it could have got misplaced in the first day hustle and shuffle. I know I usually throw away what I consider useless information(art auction, paid drink tastings, excursions, etc.). It would be real easy for one sheet to get mixed in with those.
