China will be released the Week of April 24th.

I was told by 2 different people that Australia and Singapore sailings will open the first week of May.

Thanks so much but I'll continue to check often...you never know with RCI ;)

The plot thickens ~~

So crazy the information or mis-information out there, my TA has been calling RCI to book AUS for us since last week even though I knew the release date was TBD and yesterday she was told today, this morning she was told at some point this afternoon, but end of the work day in Florida will be upon us shortly and still no release:mad:

Perhaps fate is trying to tell us not to go back......nay!

I was hoping for the Explorer, done a TP before on her, it's just a nice warm relaxing trip for us.

Seems to also go well with the theory that a Q Class will take the Alaska runs for the 2019 summer. But now, where does Explorer go?

I know we've gone over this 1000 times, but can Explorer get through the Panama Canal? The new Norwegian Bliss can.

If Norwegian Bliss can, then Explorer certainly can i'm sure

According to ChengP and BillOh on the various Canal threads over the past year, if:

  • all the planets align
  • pigs grow wings and begin to fly
  • and when hell freezes over....

Maybe, just maybe, with the lowest tides of the year, at a certain time of the day, on a certain month of the year, Voyager Class might have a few feet clearance.

Bliss can only fit through the new Canal per her advertised measurements.

So easily can do the 1/2 Canal transit into Gatun Lake from the Caribbean side... but how high is she? Can she fit under the Bridge of Americas for a full transit? I cannot find her height quickly via google but I'll keep looking. Obviously if she's scheduled for a repo from Miami to the West Coast she she must be able to fit under the BoA!

Interesting... I see she's booked for a Vancouver to LA repo which includes San Fran... So she must also gets under Vancouver's Lion's Gate Bridge and Golden Gate.

That's what I thought, but the Norwegian Bliss will be transmitting the canal several times, which confused me.

Well well well...

Breakaway is 179ft tall (approx same as Radiance)... I didn't know that

Bliss supposedly get one more deck so I suppose still under the 200 foot span height of the Lion's Gate and the 203-205 ft span height of the BoA for the Panama Canal transit.

Voyager & Freedom Class are approx 206-207 feet tall

Thanks for the info. That's really surprising regarding Bliss' height compared to Radiance and Explorer. I never would've guessed she wasn't as tall as Explorer. So it seems that if Explorer was going to come back to the Caribbean or East Coast, around the Horn she'll go.

Apparently the Norwegians seem to feel she can successfully complete a full transit voyage through the canal. Old or new, it's going through the Canal .

My bet is EoS doesn't come back to the Caribbean/East coast. Remember how much time it took, and how much money it cost, RCL to get Mariner around the horn? Not only that they had to give away cabins and super low prices. My guess would be she'll go back through the Suez to do something much more profitable like Europe if anything.... maybe EoS simply stays in Asia and gets "Marinized" for the Chinese market while RCL decides to send Ovation or Quantum4 over to Alaska in place of EoS.

WOW....I never realize Breakaway was that close to Radiance class.

Or maybe Explorer will be a year-round option for Australia?
