Cruise Moveover Offer

Just received an offer from Princess on a moveover offer... I'm curious to know what exactly this is??

Says that 100% cruise fare refund (as refundable onboard credit)

air fees up to $150 per person

Princess EZAir will be protected...

Does this mean I will get another cruise PLUS the full fare as an onboard credit??

Anybody ever done this??

That is usually the case. :)

If you are interested call ASAP! They will contact people until they find someone who will take the offer. If it works out for you to take a different cruise it can be a fantastic opportunity. Since retiring my wife and I keep hoping for something like this but it's probably not very likely. It never hurts to hope though...

I should be so lucky ...especially on cruises that leave out of San Francisco.

Yes, you get your cruise fare back as obc and a free cruise.

They have oversold the ship and are looking for people that have flexible schedules to move to another cruise (your choice) ... you may even get a great room!

Don't wait too long if you like the deal ...somebody (like me if it were ever offered to me) would snap it up in a heartbeat.

I have heard of folks being offered a full suite on a move over offer. :D

You got it right.

Mine also includes cabin upgrade. We declined because our cruise date was more important than the offer.

Hi, my wife and I were booked on the 2 week Chile to Argentina cruise a couple of years ago. We took the offer and got our money back (they refund the cash - $3000 - if you don't spend it all on board), 2 free cruises each for 2 weeks and an upgrade to a Balcony room. We jumped at it and then looked for the two most expensive 2 week cruises we could find !!!

We currently have two cruises booked and would sooooooooooo take a move over offer - in a heartbeat. Being (finally!) retired is nice. I would, however, insist that they also move over our AIBP perk. ;)

We are on the Regal 2/5 sailing... unfortunately, changing this trip is not an option... Princess must not be getting any takers because I received another offer again today...

next time, i will have to seriously consider doing the swap...

thanks for the responses

Another member of our 2/5 Regal Roll Call has also gotten two move-over offers.

It's really too bad you can't take advantage of this. When Princess is really pushing hard for a move over one can often ask for a little more - such as the AIBP - and may well get whatever it is they request.

I love cruising on Super Bowl Sunday, but the wife and I couldn't pass this one up! We are delaying til March 12th and got upgraded to a Suite then and our original fare back as refundable on board credit.

And on top of that we had booked this on a bounce back offer that gave us casino cash and they let us transfer that to the new booking. :D

This is the first time I have ever heard of the "move over offer" I like it!

  • 1 month later...

A few years ago, we got our one and only moveover offer and was able to wrangle a free 26 day Round Australia cruise for the following year, for canceling our 15 day Transatlantic inside cabin. Full fare refunded as credit and upgraded to a balcony room. We did lose our one way airfare, but that was only $400 each. What I would like to know is if, once you hear your cruise is sold out, anyone has called Princess to volunteer to be contacted for a moveover offer?

Usually this means a large group wants to charter part(or in some cases the whole ship)They are willing to pay a LOT more money, which is why Princess is trying to move pax onto another cruise. For me I would DEFINATELY take the offer & potential upgrades.

No. Last-minute move-over offers are made because Princess overbooked the ship. They count on a certain percentage of passengers cancelling. When fewer than anticipated cancel, they start making move-over offers.

Large groups and full-ship charters happen way in advance, usually 10-12 months before a cruise. They're not last-minute.

You can call but most likely, an upsell offer will be given.

If the ship is sold out, there is no cabin to upsell to.

It's possible that because of guarantees waiting to be assigned that a sold out ship will still have cabins available for upsells. We never really know if cabins are truly sold or if they are being held back waiting for guarantees to be assigned. And it's possible for Princess to sell more guarantees in lower categories and then try to fill available higher category cabins through upsells.
