What was your upgrade offer and what did you bid

Just cancelled my advantage bids for Pearl 9 day out of NO 11/10/17. The priced dropped so much was cheaper to upgrade from my comped SE to an H4 Haven 2 bedroom total cost with bump on OBC was 14 bucks way better than the 1200 I was willing to pay to upgrade. Watch prices sometimes it is cheaper to just move!

Good for you finding a better deal. My only issue with more OBC , is where to use it. We do not book excursions thru the cruise lines and we have the SDP and UBP. ??

I had originally booked an Inside Cabin (Category IF) on NCL Breakaway sailing 10/1. My cost at time I booked that in May was was $699 pp (plus taxes and fees), which was already a bargain discount.

Through the NCL Upgrade Advantage Program, I was eligible to bid on an upgrade to either an Outside or Balcony cabin starting 9/1. I low-balled "poor" bids for both initially ($50 pp for Outside upgrade; $100 pp for Balcony upgrade). I left the Outside bid alone, but in the last few weeks I re-bid my Balcony offer a few times - up to $125 pp, back down to $100 pp, and finally back up to $125 pp.

Agreed. It's all a game. What to bid and should you over bid. As long as your happy with the room you booked, it's fun. If you book a inside and not going to happy unless you get the mini suite, then it's not a game. Im sure NCL loves the over bid. Never bid anymore than what your comfortable with. Just like at a casino, bet with your head not your heart. The fun is getting the cabin for much less than the booking rate. Even if you have to wait almost to the last 48 hours.

I've been following the thread for awhile. Thanks to both of you for sharing your experience and advise. I did just this and scored our balcony upgrade yesterday(31 days out). Though I kind of got caught at the high end of the bid changing game, we are extremely happy with our new found cabin.

Norwegian Star 15 day TA. UA offer of $75-$450 for a balcony(did not bid on oceanview). I started the bid at $75 and left it there for quite some time. Over the past couple of weeks I started moving it all over the map. Up to $110,back down to $90, etc. Ended up with $135pp bid being accepted yesterday. Top end of poor bid on the scale.

This is our first NCL cruise. We booked an inside sail away(IX) 6 months out. They gave us a complimentary upgrade to an inside category(ID). Then came the UA e-mail and I started the bidding process. We have ended up with a mid-ship balcony(BA). First balcony and our 20 year anniversary. We are happy campers.

Happy bidding to all. Most importantly, have fun with it! :)

You normally do not get ANY change of freebies with ANY upgrade

Not following this was a CAS comp based on casino play. So value of original booking was used to determine rebook/upgrade. I was already in a suite but when I originally booked suite guests did not pay tax and gratuities on perks now they do so had to pay that and 50 per person difference in price but OBC increased to 600.

Using it on Belize villa and 3rd person for specialty dining plus any pics and not sure if it will cover daily service fees.

I was starting to obsess about the balcony upgrade so we just canceled our bid and called to book a spa balcony. Paid almost the same if we got our bid and paid for the spa access. (And we weren't even guaranteed the upgrade, so we're VERY happy we made the decision)

How long out? Only 23 days out, and prices have not dropped a dollar. Bet it goes to the last 2 days. Upped our bid so would think it's a good shot. Still much less than priced today.

I was just checking what was available through the ncl site and everything show's sold out. So how would i be able to bid if it appears to be nothing available?

As mentioned often in this thread - they will keep offering bids. Somebody might cancel. Somebody might move up a level. And maybe nothing will happen. Since it is automated, no big deal letting people bid.

But - if things are showing sold out, your chances will of course drop.

What does it mean if you bid and do not get any confirmation e-mail. I went back to check and the bids are there and say pending. I even updated one and it said a confirmation would be sent but none has come.

Any suggestions?

Check your CC account. When it's charged you know you have the upgrade. Good time to link your account to email. Lol, my bank will let me know before NCL can send the email. Good luck.

It cannot be used for DSC, which in IMO stinks. But that's the way it is. There are only the 2 of us so we don't need any extra SDP. I already have a perk for 10 free pictures with my booking. We are going GSC, so I could check into a villa there, thanks for that tip. Otherwise I will be spending more time than I like in the casino as the OBC can be used there.

It usually means you entered your email wrong on the credit card screen of the upgrade process or it’s gone to your spam folder.

Check your email/server's spam mail folder, sometimes both my Google & MSN server do funny things with important incoming messages ... some are pre-sorted by Google into "Social" & "Promotions", etc.

The key to watch for is not "pending" as that meant it is in the system, which you can review, modify and even cancel or withdraw, up to 48 hours before sailing.

My BIL's bid for upcoming sailing, at less than 4 weeks out has changed to "processing" within the last 24 hours; and that was (usually) a positive sign that it has been accepted & getting updated. He is on the lookout for an email from NCL, nothing yet ... new stateroom info not posted yet, still showing original booking. If nothing later, he'll check with his credit card issuer on pending/posted charges. *** Ship isn't sold out as off-season and his acceptance email was like 4 days prior to ... early this Spring on the BA, not worried about it.

Ours being low bids, is still "pending" but we are fine with our staterooms as is, 3 seniors would be better in a balcony with the extra sofa/day bed.
