$7.95 Room Service Charge

Recommended Posts

I think Anthem has an a la carte menu. It may be possible to order individual items for under 7.95, but once you add more items the flat fee is actually better.

I agree, if you are ordering pay items it will be cheaper at a flat rate if $7.95... But, there are still free items w the old menu so I still have option to order food and pay nothing. The kids menu has a few decent choices along w the "free" wraps, soup, salad. Plus, there are still complimentary beverages and desserts (read milk and warm chocolate chip cookies). I have enough to order "free" to keep me happy so I'm personally glad anthem delayed their scheduled April 2nd roll out.

We sailed the Allure of the Seas last October. It is now Sally's favorite ship. But the morning room service is such a traditional part of our cruise experience, I think we are done with Royal.

Really do they have a menu for room service that doesn't charge a fee. I thought i read that. Thats too bad that this has wrecked your whole vacation plans

Lucky !! Enjoy free delivery while you can - I have to admit, really bummed about new $7.95 charge every time I want to order room service - especially considering I am disabled and some days I just can't do much, so planned on having room service on my balcony if a "bad" day happens while on cruise... now I have to budget for it grrrr

I can understand why you would feel that way. On the bright side, if you have a bad day, it seems you will be able to order from a better selection. Hope you don't have many of those days though.

Wrecked! LOL. My dear, there are other cruise lines in the sea. Royal simply makes choosing easier.

Must be hard on Sally to give up her favorite ship so you can have cold eggs on Carnival. [emoji33]

LOL, that hurt. :D

Chapter 3 in the great book "A Husbands Guide to Surviving Marriage" says: To remain a love partner, the wise husband never says, "Honey, life isn't fair".

For the record, my love learned of the new charge and suggested the change. She had already flipped a coin several times between Royal and another new ship.

On a side: While your post suggest wisdom, we haven't sailed Carnival in 10 years, so I can't compare the eggs. But based on our recent sailing, Royal doesn't have anything to brag about.

Will I still be able to order a large container of coffee anytime for free on harmony in June?

Looks like to avoid new $7.95 delivery fee you would need to order as continental breakfast option - usually 7am-10am

Of course regular free coffee is available to pick up at Cafe Promenade

I choose if I want to cruise, I choose if its Royal, I choose the room, I choose if I'll buy a beverage package, I choose if I buy specialty dining and now I'll choose if I want to pay for room service.

Hi drew. Hope you don't mind me stealing your line.

I chose all these things - and at the time of choosing - and the time of paying - "free" room service was on the cards. So, what I have "chosen" - is not what I am getting.

I keep saying I am not interested in $8 (or multiples of $8).... we are none of us short of money because if we were, we would likely not be having such vacations.

I am however VERY INTERESTED in principles, contracts and fairness. - guess that's just the socialist in me!

To add a different viewpoint, my other half is happy that the room service has a charge - because it will HAVE to be edible now!!

I am an RCCL Emerald member, but did go on a Carnival Cruise to Canada once before, and somehow still managed to have great time. May I ask you how many Carnival cruises have you actually been on?

Is that the same coffee as the room service coffee, because it sure doesn't taste the same.

A question on the $7.95 per service call, don't you folks tip? It's at least $9.95 hit for me.

I thought I read someplace (can't find it now) that the $7.95 included gratuity.

~ So a page or so back the late nite wing issue came about! Well here's one to think about . Granted it only works for Diamond and above individuals ! ~

If your craving wings at 2AM { We usually have our attendant empty the fridge ! ~ So there's no charge issue's as well as little room for our cold waters , or left overs from chops . / You could just as easy have as many plates of wings as you want at cocktail hours ! drop a few off at your room and stick them in the fridge . problem solved ~ lol

Still the extra $ for what's already been paid in full before boarding is even allowed ! Messed Up

The way I read the FAQ, the whole $7.95 is a service charge - nothing for the food itself. Now, how much of that actually goes to the person who delivered will be debated for eons. Maybe this charge is in lieu of raising the daily grats and the $7.95 goes into the grats pool.
