grapau27 Posted April 19, 2017 #101 Share Posted April 19, 2017 How much do you tip the Diamond Lounge Concierge? We were just on Rhapsody and he assisted with serving drinks, and gave my kids two souvenirs (rather pricey ones, a model of the ship, and the glass block they normally give Diamonds that hit 140 points, and a cup that said 'Cruising Princess'). I was really perplexed as to how much to tip him. (This was compounded by my credit card company shutting down my card while at sea due to fraud. I wound up having to pay my shipboard account in cash, which left me with very little paper money for tips. I did the best I could, but I still feel like I 'shorted' him). On Vision in Dubai in February our consierge was brilliant and brought a lot of the drinks as well as the waiter so during the week i gave him $40 as he also printed our boarding passes for our Emirates flight back to Manchester. 43 cruises and counting. knittinggirl Posted April 19, 2017 #102 Share Posted April 19, 2017 We tip each round of drinks. If the concierge either helps us with something, or arranges a larger venue so there's seating room for the nightly diamond event, we tip him too. Colorado Babe Posted April 19, 2017 #103 Share Posted April 19, 2017 We usually tip the conceirge anywhere from $50-$150. It depends on how much they do for us and the size of our party! Sent from my iPhone using Forums
Rare John&LaLa Posted April 20, 2017 #104 Share Posted April 20, 2017 I'm not sure if all ships are like this, never paid attention before, but Serenade CL servers pool the tips they receive nightly. However, they keep whatever is given to them in the envelopes at the end. They throw all the bills they receive into an ice bucket behind the bar. We tipped nightly, pretty much a buck a drink. sometimes if I only had a five I might skip the next round. FWIW, during the top tier party, we give one of the roaming servers a five and ask for a couple of Cape Codders. We don't like the selection they have on the tray. You can bet they bring us at least one refill before the event is over. :D
pspercy Posted April 20, 2017 #105 Share Posted April 20, 2017 .............................................................................. OTOH, carrying around a pocketful of singles when everyone else on the cruise is "cashless" by design is stupid... We carry cash for the casino so a few dollars extra is no burden:cool:

TYMAN Posted April 20, 2017 #107 Share Posted April 20, 2017 We carry cash for the casino so a few dollars extra is no burden:cool: I agree. Even if I'm not going to the casino that night, I stuff 10-15 singles and a couple of five's in my pocket. Although at times it really weighs me down, I lighten the load after each drink that is served to me. :D

marymcgol Posted April 20, 2017 #112 Share Posted April 20, 2017 In the past, we gave lounge gratuity on the next to last night....however, so many cruisers seem to be tipping with each round, that we now give a small amount each evening and an additional amount at cruise end. I probably would have given him $50. I think $20-50 for a week is average if you are in the lounge every night, he does you a favor or 2 and is pleasant. If they ignore you, give them nothing. Bizzie07 Posted April 20, 2017 #121 Share Posted April 20, 2017 I just tip on the last night. On our last cruise the server who had been with us all week had been moved a couple of days before the end of the cruise because a group complained that she made them wait 15 mins for a drink. ( I wasn't aware of that but another passenger told me. The young girl was lovely and was doing her best as she had to leave the lounge and go to a bar for the drinks). On the last night I went looking for her in the bar and gave her a tip which she looked very surprised and grateful for. I also tipped the new servers. These servers work hard and sometimes are not treated well by some passengers.

BND Posted April 20, 2017 #123 Share Posted April 20, 2017 We tip $1 per drink and then give each of the servers who waits on us an envelope with more money in it on the last night. I saw most everyone tipping for each drink on GR in the CL. I have noticed a lot of people doing the same in the DL on previous cruises. We always carry cash for tips, and for small purchases ashore as well as for the casino.
Biker19 Posted April 21, 2017 #124 Share Posted April 21, 2017 I have noticed a lot of people doing the same in the DL on previous cruises. I have been to the DL every night on the current sailing of Navigator - I have yet to see a single tip being offered (500+ D and up on this sailing). TYMAN Posted April 21, 2017 #125 Share Posted April 21, 2017 I'll be honest here, I don't look to see who tips & who doesn't. All I know is that I do and it feels good and I'll continue to do it as long as I can afford to cruise. For those who don't, I believe it's the same as the multiple dress code threads, do or wear what makes you happy and don't worry about anybody else.
