The outlook calls for a 70% probability for each of the following ranges of activity during the 2017 hurricane season, which runs from June 1st through November 30th:

  • 11-17 Named Storms, which includes Tropical Storm Arlene in April
  • 5-9 Hurricanes
  • 2-4 Major Hurricanes
  • Accumulated Cyclone Energy (ACE) range of 75%-155% of the median, which includes Arlene in April

OH Please, not even NOAA have clue, that's why they are called predictions. you can start looking about 2 weeks from your cruise

The weather channel is the worst and most generic. If you check the weather for a Caribbean cruise, they will show a chance of rain everyday, just playing it safe. There are so many great weather sites sailors use regularly, Wind Guru, Crown Weather, NOAA, and Weather Underground to name a few. There are also great free radar apps, which are very accurate, I use MyRadar

They asked what the hurricane forecast was for this year...what I posted was the NOAA's 2017 hurricane outlook.

No one knows exactly how many except mother nature.

So take your Oh Please somewhere else...

Do you know what the weather will be like on August 28 in the Caribbean? I hope it will be nice. What will the water be like?

Ha. Yes, my standard snarky reply is "Google is your friend!"

I'm booked for Labor Day weekend and again in mid-November.

The weather will be whatever it is. It may rain. It may be sunny. It will probably be both several times every day. There may be waves. There may not be.

I think I'll focus on what I can control - how much to pack, how much to budget for casino play, and where to buy my carry-on bottle of wine! ;)

If you go to LMGTFY dot com (It stands for Let me Google that for you) and put in the search criteria it will give you a link to provide to these poor souls with no Google-Fu. The link visually performs the search for them and then dumps them to the actual google results. It's a nice but somewhat snarky training tool. :D

LMGTFY! Love it!

Every single year, there are multiple threads with people freaking out of some unnamed system off the coast of west Africa that they see 2 weeks before their cruise.

It's summer. Or fall. Hurricanes happen. I would hope that people realize when they book that hurricanes happen. Annually! Starting a thread asking online strangers whether they should cancel and lose 3/4 of their fare or what the ship will encounter or whether Carnival will cancel is a pointless waste of energy.

If you're worried about weather, book your cruise outside hurricane season. But please realize that weather happens all year round! Imagine that!

I did my only B2B in October 2012 from Charleston. Five nights solo after my DD's wedding, then a friend drove down to Charleston, DD & hubby drove down for a honeymoon 7-night sailing.

Leg 1, we left Nassau early since some storm named Sandy was heading our way. We skipped Freeport and hugged the coastline back to Charleston. On turnaround day, Sandy was heading NE. We sailed on time, but skipped HMC (my only miss in about 8 visits) due to damage when Sandy had passed over.

Skies were beautiful and sunny the entire 12 days except for the one afternoon in Nassau.

Returned home to see the devastation she wreaked further up the coast.

Anyway, even if there's a hurricane in the area, it doesn't mean your cruise will be ruined.

The weatherguessers aren't ever close, especially those morons in Colorado.

Maybe because they use the same algorithms that Dem pollsters and Nate Silver use to forecast elections.;p Or NOAA and NASA for their 100+ year climate models.;p
