Can't wait for some Seaside Yacht Club reviews?

In the Top Sail lounge waiting to get off the ship. Had a wonderful cruise and we are looking forward to going back on the Seaside next year. Highlights:

1. The YC, lounge and the pool deck are perfect. Love how the lounge and restaurant create a more dynamic environment.

2. Best food I ever had on MSC. Understand food is subjective but they had very dynamic menus each night.

3. The number of butlers are fewer but I did not find service lacking. It appears that the have less obligations in working in the lounge or the pool. While they do have some rotations, it appears that MSC has added bar staff to the pool and lounge area to lessen the burden.

4. Cabin was very nice. I did not find the furniture to be cheap. Love the bathroom, especially the rain forest shower.

5. There were some minor service issues but I think it was very impressive how well things went. They are still in beta testing and it will take some time to work things out. It is a mix of veterans and new. In talking to the staff, it is a very hard adjustment when a new ship is put into operation.

6. Boarding. Was bit of a nuisance as the ground staff were just really learning the ins and outs as it was the second voyage.

7. Surprinsingly, the majority of the people in theYC were from overseas.

Will attempt to do a fuller review but ask away with any questions you may have.

Thanks for the balanced feedback. Did you board with YC guests. Just wondering how it was a nuisance. And when you mentioned the food was great, was that in the YC restaurant? And lastly, how would you say the YC experience compares to other cruise lines (ie. RCL)? Sorry I have so many questions. First time trying MSC in July.

Thank you for this feedback on the YC. It's great to finally read something positive! I'll be in the YC on Seaside in two weeks. I'm looking forward to it!

Thanks very much for the feedback! We don’t sail until May, but will be watching the feedback closely since this will be our first time on MSC.

Can you provide any information on smoking around the top sail pool area? Seem to be many concerns that they aren’t very restrictive on smoking in other areas of the ship. NCL Haven areas nicely segment smoking/non-smoking on their sundeck but the top sail area looks much larger.

Thanks ang glad you had a great trip!

Parallax,

Thank you so much for posting.:*

What kind of suite were you in in the Yacht Club.

We'll be in a regular YC balcony in July and wondered if we get a rain shower too.

How was the pool area? Crowded at all?

How was the restaurant? Could you eat whenever you wanted (anytime) or did they try to hold you to set times?

Any problems getting your mini bar stocked?

Was you cabin cleaned in a timely fashion? (someone stated they had a problem with that).

Did you leave the YC? How was the rest of the ship? Did it feel crowded?

Did you go to the casino? Was it smokey?

OMG. I realize I have just asked so many questions, and I'm not done yet.

If you can answer as many as you can, I would appreciate it so much and think of you as an angel:halo:.

Because we were excited, we got to the port early. YC tent was somewhat hard to find because of lack of signage. Once we dropped our off, we got through security but the land butler was a little confused. Once we were in the loung and checked in, we went to meet the butler to escort us to the YC but there was a communication issue. So we walked to the YC without the escort. Why wait?

Only ate at the YC restaurant.

We think the YC is the best experience with the mainstream cruise lines. We have done celebrity, royal and holland but nothing competes with the YC.

In regular YC room and it had the rain shower.

Pool area was busy on the first sea day but there was plenty of seating. The design is much better than the Divina. Plenty of covered seating to eat breakfast and lunch.

No set times were required and we sat in the same area every night. Food was fabulous.

No issues with getting the mini bar stocked but didn’t use it much.

Cleaning was done in a timely manner but we do not spend a lot of time in our room.

The ship was crowded and it always seems like that when you are in the YC. We thought it was beautiful.

We went to the casino a couple nights. Smoking was allowed in one section but we did not smell it because we were playing the tables.

The YC dining room is open on embarkation day. The pool buffet is much more extensive than the Divina and had lobster, king prawns, veal chops, and steak for lunch most days!

Parallax sorry to bug you. I thought of a few more questions. Answer whenever you have time.

- Where can YC guests eat lunch on embarkation day?

- Does the buffet in the YC pool area serve breakfast/lunch/dinner too or just snacks?

Thanks! Saw the pics of the daily lobster on Facebook! Can't wait till July! Hope that doesn't change.

Below is a link to a 35 minute video taken onboard the Seaside. From the 3:30-6:45 marks is footage taken in the YC including the one pool deck starting at 4:50.https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=Of8Anl1OYhE

As a point of reference, how many other ships in the fleet have you sailed on and were they all in the YC? Also, by any chance did you get any pictures of the YC dinner menus? Have not seen any of these on line yet.

I have been on the Divina and sailed in the YC twice on that ship. Did not take any pictures but they were firing on all cylinders.

  • 1 month later...

Just off the Jan 27 sailing in the YC.....our first YC and we really did enjoy everything about it. The service, the food, drinks, etc.

We had read about some people being a bit confused about the cabin steward's duties as compared to the butler, etc. Glad to report that when we got to our room, we were met by the butler. He introduced himself and said that HE was handling everything. That we did not need to ask anybody else for anything we needed or wanted. He was right......he seemed to be everywhere pool(deck 19), lounge(deck 16), in the hallways..........Anything we asked for, it was done now.

Was somewhat underwhelmed with the embarkation PROCESS. I capitalize because it took a while. Waiting for groups to form, being led around, wait for more groups to form. I guess I had a little more streamlining in my head.

Any questions, fire away. Was in YC Interior 16033.

L454S - thanks for the great information. DH and I will be on the Seaside mid April in cabin YIN 16031. Right next to yours!

- Given the limited storage space, do you find it adequate in terms storage of your toiletries/makeup/cleanser etc?

- Are you able to hang up most of your on bard clothings, or live out of suitcase most of the time?

- We love to catch up on some news on TV at bedtime. In looking at the pictures, look like the TV is installed in the far end of the room. Can you turn it enough to be able to get a reasonable viewing angle from the bed?

Thanks!
