Royal Caribbean Credit Card

Recommended Posts

Host Clarea, Did you have to do anything once on board? I have redeemed som but they have not posted to my upcoming cruise and when I call they tell me "it should post Two weeks before I board". Is that true? Also, do you know I'd I can redeem once on board for casino if I want?

Redeemed mine at various times, starting in November last year for a cruise leaving in 8 days. They all showed up last week (maybe week before) on our invoice and in the cruise planner.

Have done several times with no issues. Always print the confirms just in case, but never needed them. Can take out as cash from guest services.

You don't have to do anything, the OBC will show up on your onboard account, usually on the second day.

You cannot directly use OBC for the casino. However, you can get a cash advance againist your omboard account for a 5% fee.

Has anyone had issues with redemption of points for on board credit? How does it work? I don't want to deal with the guest services while onboard

Thanks

I was able to use mine pre-cruise in my Cruise Planner. Easy Peasy.

Luckily, it's a Bank of America website, not Royal Caribbean.

Isn’t that the truth? Also, to add to that fact you deal with Bank of America or mostly just online, and not the royal Caribbean employee on the other side of the phone.

Personally, I have never had any issues redeeming points but I don’t find anything overly exciting to redeem either. They should really improve their “reward” program.

Hey, I'm piggy backing of OP's question but since mine is similar thought I would ask here. I redeemed points for OBC on 5/21. We have not seen it yet in the Cruise Planner. When we redeemed points for money off the cruise it posted in a couple of days. Should I contact someone or will it just magically appear? I wanted to use it to buy drink packages before our cruise at the end of July.

They apply OBC redemptions in order of sailing. It will probably show up within a couple of weeks.

The only time I ever had a problem was the only time I didn’t get a confirmation email. So make sure you get the email confirming the obc. Then print it out and take it with you.

Obc shows up 24 hours after Embarkation.

I don’t know when it shows on cruise planner.

You can call and ask that the OBC be applied right away.

Just tell them that you want to use the OBC to make a purchase in your cruise planner. I did this for our Feb cruise and the OBC was applied within 24-48 hours after my phone call.

I’m gonna ask a similar question... if you don’t think their rewards are exciting what card would you choose?

Once you do the redemption via the BOA website, hang on to the confirmation email you receive. If you chose onboard credit, it may not show on Royal's website till just a few days before the cruise. I've heard of people who didn't have it once on board taking that receipt to Guest Services and it is applied after they check with the home office.

Be aware When Royal gets notice that you redeeemed points for OBC, it sits on someone desk till a week or two before your cruise. Nobody at Crown and Anchor can tell you if they have it or not.

That is what I don't like about the Royal Card. When I redeem points, I want it to show up right away! Guess i will call and tell them I want to use it to book excursions and see if they will apply it

We switched to a Barclays Elite. Super easy! I ask for a travel credit and within 2 days it shows up on my credit card. Plus we get 2x for every $1 vs Royal only giving you 2 points on Royal purchases.
