Casino Discounts?

We have sailed numerous times on both HAL and Princess and are big casino fans - we are there every night! We have won big and lost as well. We have NEVER received any offer of casino discounts or special rates. Always use our cards as we sit down at a table so it is not a case of not being "tracked".

 

Any ideas or insight as to why some get offers and some don't? Thanks!

I would email the casino people directly...Princess Cruise's don't have anything to do with the casino.

Interesting. We go in the casino once or twice a cruise to use our non-refundable OBC. Win a little, lose a little and cash out. Maybe 15-20 minutes total and we got a casino discount offer a couple of years ago. Got a very nice discount of of bookings and booked 5. Not members of the Ocean Players Club.

Apparently the term "Ocean Players Club" is an umbrella term for all cruise line casinos. If you go on their website, they show all cruise lines and answer any casino questions. That's where I email to set up any slot pulls I am running, they communicate between you and the on board casino host. If I remember correctly all cruise lines call their players "club" something different..but same over all company

Still not a member, unless it's automatic when you play slots for 10 minutes or so.

We take longer cruises (14 -20) days and are in the casino every night - we almost always get a letter at the end of the cruise for casino cash to use in the next 6 months ($400 or so per person). We use those on short 4 day cruises to Mexico. We also usually get a discount for the room unless we are using a different promo (sip and sail)

Do you have a cruise consultant?? We do and she gets us a casino discount for most cruises. Call princess and get one..

My TA says she can't always see if we're eligible for a casino rate for a cruise so I call Princess directly and ask. If we are, I put the cruise on hold and my TA picks it up and let's us know what the final price is and any OBC she is offering.

 

We have received e-mails from "Princess Players Club" with special Sail and Play rates (Caribbean sailings in February/March and Alaska in July.) We did a Caribbean cruise and are also taking advantage of the offer for an Alaska cruise in August.

 

We're also going on a West Coast cruise in September with a a casino rate as well as the sale promos offering an upgrade, OBC and gratuities. So were able to combine the casino rate with the promotion on that cruise.

I'm going to check with them and see why I don't get any offers. Racked up a lot of playing time (and $$$) with them.

Really have no idea how we get the Casino offers. I may put $100 in the slots during a 7 night cruise. Now the wife can have some fun playing slots. I never ask how much she wins or loses.

We are booked on a Princess players club cruise in March from Sydney. Amazing cruise fare + $350 off EZ Air+ free gratuities (since we are sailing out of OZ that might not have been a concern)+ $150 Casino free play. Then found another, not casino, offer for similar pre cruise from Auckland. Going to love those 32 days :-)

We certainly enjoyed getting casino offers last fall when Princess was trying to fill ships due to so many people not wanting to go to storm-damaged islands. There were several more cruises offered than we could take. We ended up going for 10 days on the Royal. We paid so little that I ended up taking an upsell to a suite that still made the cruise affordable for us. We got another offer for a cruise for February on the Regal. I had not planned to cruise again so soon, but it was cheap enough to be irresistible. I think inside cabins started at $199 per person plus taxes and fees and balcony cabins at $319. We also got free gratuities on that cruise--one of my favorite perks.

I had forgotten until last week that I had received an email a few years ago informing me that I was entitled to “up to 35% off select sailings”. I had my TA call on my behalf to see if either of my two future cruises qualified. My 2020 cruise was too far out, and may qualify at a later date, but they were able to adjust the fare on my 13 day sailing in July 2019.

It will depend on how many points you have at the end of the cruise. Do you play slots or tables? Visit the casino manager on the last evening of the cruise and ask about any discounts voucher. You have to be pro-active to ensure you get anything.

We just ask a Princess Rep, "What about the Casino rate" and low and behold we have 3 cruises booked and the savings was enough to forget about the current promo Sip N Sail, total savings on all 3 cruises was over $3200 savings, just saying.

My husband and I are in the casino most nights and we get the casino discounts. What we do is we look on the Princess website and see what cruises we are interested in. We then call the Princess Casino line (888-772-6697) and see what cruise has the best offer. It is controlled so one cruise may have a large discount where another may have no discount and the lower cabin categories usually have a higher discount. We they decide on a cruise and go to an on-line travel agent informing them of our casino discount. So we get the casino discount and the on-line agents discount. For example our upcoming cruise Nov 25 2018 on the Regal Princess in an inside cabin (IF) the Princess website price was $598pp+120 port and fees our price $333pp +120 and it includes free gratuities.

 

I would recommend to call the Casino phone line and see if you are eligible for the casino offers.

On short cruises (do a 4 night trip every February we take the casino discount and pay for the beverage package - on long cruises (14-21 days every fall) we give up the casino discount to do a sip and sail. For our cruise this year the free beverage package would have been well over $1,000 .

There are several different casino offers out there. Somehow between hubby and I we've been lucky to have qualified for all of them over the course of the last several years.

 

*If you've earned enough points during your cruise (thousands of points, that is) you will receive a letter before the end of the cruise. Depending on your number of points you could get some free play for use during a future cruise or even a free cruise itself. Points are accumulated when you have your card in the machine (or registered at the table - I'm not a table player so maybe someone can confirm this one). You usually have 30 days to book this next cruise and it has to be taken within six months or so. This is called a Come Back and Sail/Play offer and has a specific offer code attached to the offer. If I play enough I get one of these; if I don't play much I don't get one. I did receive one a couple months ago.

 

*There is also a discount off many cruises using the offer code CASINO. You are not able to see the discount online. Only your travel agent or Princess Vacation Planner can see if you qualify. Some sailings do and some don't. The only way to know if you qualify is to call your TA and ask about a specific cruise and ask if you qualify for a casino discount. Somehow I wound up on the list several years ago. Here's the chart of the discount:

 

*Another casino offer is either emailed to you (if you have a TA forwarding these things) and then is also mailed to you. These are the VIP voyages where you receive free play, a % off the cruise fares, free drinks in the casino when playing, a free gift, and other amenities. VIP cruises are specific cruises during the year. I receive these several times a year. I don't take advantage of these offers much because the casino is super packed on VIP cruises.

 

*The last casino offer is the best of the bunch. The "Sail and Play" offers have certain cruises where prices are rock bottom. I have never received these offers, but my hubby who rarely ever goes to the casino has. This summer he received emails about several $199 cruises to Alaska and $149 cruises to the Caribbean.

 

I don't know how I get some of the offers and my husband gets the other one. We do cruise a lot - 15 or so cruises a year - but I don't know if that factors into the equation.

We have the Casino rate for a cruise in Sept of '19 and another cruise in Jan. of '20, guess we're lucky or reach a really good Princess Rep. when we called in regarding a totally different cruise we had a question about after finding a lower rate overall, the phone call lasted about 20 mins. while she maneuvered through our bookings, just saying.

The Casino rate is completely different then the come back sail and play.....the come back sail and play is usually tied to free play money or a possible free cruise with free play money and does need to be booked as in first quote...with code that came with offer usually on last night of cruise.

 

Casino rate can be booked as far out as rates are available....as mentioned in second quote.

 

We have received the sail and play offers as well as VIP casino offers.

 

Most of our cruises also receive the casino rate unless it is the sip and sail...….they cannot be combined

Casino rate is awesome. We booked a TA this past spring with the sip and sail and then we decided to switch to anniversary sale and give up the sip and sail ....we saved $1100 p/p getting the casino rate as well as $300 p/p OBC with this sale.

 

 

It pays to keep watching the site for sales and price drops!

For a while Princess stopped sending us email and snail mail offers. One of the times that I called to get that situation fixed, the Princess agent looked at my profile and advised that I still had the discounts listed in the chart you posted and they expired at the end of this year. That was an offer that I originally received in 2015 and I had no idea that it had been extended. It never hurts to ask you TA or Princess to insert the CASINO code when booking to see if you qualify for additional discounts.

We are just the opposite - gave up a casino discount of $400/pp on a cruise in 2019 and took the sip and sail with a beverage package worth over $900 per person..Savings of over $1,000 total - and yes we do utilize the package for drinks, wine, waters and coffees quite a bit - would not cruise with the package anymore

For us we could pay for one package and still save over $1000. I do not use the package to the ultimate...maybe 2 drinks per day...plus we get mini bar.
