Silversea Water Cooler: Welcome! Part Five

Today I visited a conservation area a 1.5-hour drive from Rio de Janeiro to see the Golden Lion tamarin. This an endangered animal that lives only in the woods (Mata Atlantica) of Rio de Janeiro state.

By 1970´s, only 200 of them was found in the area. The population was driven to such low amount due to deforestation and hunting. A conservation program was established and now 2,500 individuals can be found in the wild. Due to such increase in the number of Golden Lion tamarin, we can visit the protected area on weekends since mid-2022 (only 60 people each day with guided visit, no free wandering around).

This is the first time I have such a lovely encounter.

Thank you for these lovely photos.  Golden Lion Tamarins were one of my favourite animals to visit and spend time watching at the zoo. We are fortunate that many zoos have breeding programs so that these and other endangered animals can be released back into the wild.

Hi Davey, we go to: Plymouth, Cork, Bantry, Galway, Killybegs, Ullapool, Scrabster, and Skagen. The cruise ends in Copenhagen.

I keep wanting to book a cruise to Oz and NZ too but never seem to be able to......I will keep looking.

Looks amazing 🤩.. but as I have said a few times you can't compare a top end restaurant serving maybe 25- 30 covers to silversea with between 300-600 !!

Yes,that's a given.

You don't get food looking that good on a ship.

I read your comments with tongue in cheek I love your humour😉 I'm sat at home watching a repeat of the TV program INSIDE THE RITZ HOTEL .. now that's how it's done ...on my first silversea cruise silver wind back in 2005 I was sat next to the great grandson of Escoffier in the dining room...

I know John Williams the Head chef at the Ritz well.

He was previously at Claridges.

He is a proper grown up chef.

The Ritz dining room is a wonderful place for dinner. The Ritz also has a dinner dance on a Saturday evening that we regularly go to.
