Easy way to get from Vancouver BC cruise terminal to Seattle's airport

Does anyone have suggestions on how to get to Seattle's airport from Vancouver BC cruise terminal? Flight time is not known at this time but would like to begin planning.

Thanks, Tony

It would be about a 5 hour train ride from Vancouver to Seattle and a short taxi ride.

But the train schedule is not great. About the same time for a bus. Recommend you instead fly out of Vancouver.

Some people have used Quick Shuttle.

We used HAL's bus transfers a few times. The bus was sealed and we zipped right through the border. We got to the SeaTac around 2:30 PM. People were dropped off in a special area and it was up to you to get your luggage to the appropriate terminal --- can be quite a hike. Don't plan on a flight until around 5 PM or later.

If you arent in a rush to buy your fare I would suggest that you set up an alert on Kayak for fares to SA from Vancouver(YVR).

You will pay $50-60* each for the shuttle which may bring you up to the airfare from YVR.

While the shuttle works well, if there is a tie-up at the border, it can add a lot of time to the transit.

*Estimates based on rates from previous years.

I'd suggest the Quick Shuttle bus. It should pick you up right at the Vancouver cruise terminal and drop you at SEATAC. No additional transfers needed. The only drawback is that it can take a while, especially if delayed at the border. Don't plan a tight schedule at the Seattle end.

I've had great success using Quick Shuttle. You can make your reservations online and the bus picks you up right inside Canada Place. There's a drop off in downtown Seattle and then at Seatac.

If you’re going to Seattle to catch a connection just book direct from yvr to your destination.

If you’re staying in Seattle take the train or bus. The “Quick” or “Bolt” buses are very economical.

Commercial buses have their own priorty lane at the border. Any delay is usually caused by heavy traffic or accidents on I-5 but then you would also have flight delay risks at airports.

Train, Bus, Car Rental are your independent options. Cruise shuttle may or may not be offered - if it is, it's hands-down going to be your SIMPLEST way as you just get off the ship, on the bus, then get off again at the airport if it all goes smoothly.

But until you know your potential flight times and prices I'd say that it's pointless doing any more work on this - you can ballpark the cost of getting to SEA from Vancouver at $50 per person, so if you are just checking whether it's cheaper to fly out of Seattle unless you can save at least ($50 + whatever you feel four or five hours of your time is worth to you per person) by flying out of SEA instead, fly from YVR.

Remember that you may have access to a non-stop from SEA home and think 'There are no non-stops to my home airport from YVR so it's going to be much nicer going from SEA instead' - but that exact same flight will have multiple potential connections from YVR, so don't write off one-stops from YVR! In fact a mid-morning YVR to SEA flight could connect with a SEA-home flight that's earlier than you can possibly risk booking if you want to take a bus from here (and the train, while awesome, gets you to downtown Seattle just before 11pm so there is no same-day flight possibility when disembarking).

If you can meet your threshold for price saving, that's when you look at the details of the land transport options - anything from $1pp for a Bolt bus ticket to ~$80pp for an Amtrak bus, with rental car pricing all over the place due to the uncontrollable factor of how many other one-way rentals going the opposite way you want to go are happening within about a day of your trip. One person in a car - unlikely to be a saving ever. Four people? Often the cheapest way to go even with gas costs.

So my advice - wait until you can book your cruise and your flights, compare YVR and SEA flight options carefully, and if you still think a SEA flight is a good idea for you, that's when you start checking whether there's a cruise shuttle offered and compare it to rental car rates and indy-booked bus fares.
