Diamond, asking for his free drinks in a bar

My understanding is that the 3 drinks is a gift to the person that earned those gifts.  The drinks were a solution to the overcrowding, and the fact that some people were with people who did not earn that gift yet, so they can now socialize in other clubs, and still get the gift.  So what happens when you abuse a gift?  Well, it gets removed.  My suggestion is this.  Don't talk about how you "break" the rules of the gift.  Don't talk about the employees who you bribed.  Don't talk about sharing.  Just take the gift, and be quite about it.  Eventually, the gift will be removed, if it is abused.

Which is worse for RCI:

1) a Diamond member shares a drink or two with a non-diamond family/friend and the cruise line is out $10-$15 at best?

2) RCI pulls the perk/gift leading to overcrowded DL and pissing off hundreds of loyal members who have sent thousands of dollars and potentially driving them (and their $$$$) to another cruise line?

If I owned a cruise line, I know what I wold chose. Me thinks you don't have worry about the perk being pulled.

I am so excited about this perk. Also is it 3 vouchers a day . That's what my sister said she is diamond but hasn't cruised this year. If that's the case it is a wonderful perk and i will always consider rccl first.

Three vouchers per day DURING HAPPY HOUR (roughly 5:30-8:30, give or take half an hour) from a bar.

If in the Diamond Lounge, the drinks are unlimited during Happy Hour.

Outside of the specific Happy Hour time frame, you will pay for drinks if you don't have a drink package.

Can someone tell me if u can get vodka mixed drink (Bloody Mary, etc). Also, r they strict in adhering to 5:30-8:30. Can I get a drink in either the MDR or specialty restaurants?

Is the lounge open during the day for cappuccino, etc

Thx in advance

Roz

i would also like to know if you can get basic cocktails like rum and coke or vodka and cranberry which is a sea breeze. ect which cocktails does the diamond lounge typically make.

In my opinion, Option 1 is definitely most costly for RCI.  That is because I doubt seriously that Option 2 would actually result in many jumping to another cruise lines.  I don't know of anyone who chooses their cruise line based on free drink coupons, not many other cruise lines (none that I know of including RCI's sister line Celebrity) offer the coupons and finally someone switching would have to start all over earning their loyalty levels.

Wish my memory was as good as yours that I could state with such absolute certainty over presumably a fairly long period of time (48 cruise) whether the men or women did a better job cleaning my cabin.

Me, I can barely remember if it was a male or female cabin steward on our last cruise let alone a couple of cruises ago.

LOL me too sometimes i can't remember what i did the day before.

Yes, of course you can get mixed drinks. If you get a drink at the bar, they are fully stocked with mixers. If you get a drink in the Diamond Lounge, they are limited, but will have your usual mixers, like sodas, tonic, and some juices. And yes, it is 3 vouchers a day.

Thank you i was hoping that was the case. This make me happy and i appreciate this perk . Two more weeks and i will be on the Serenade.

I read over on the X boards that their nightly drinks is now limited to 3. Even in the lounge.  Now they are asked for the card in the lounge too.  Any more than 3 and they are asked to pay.

This is apparently going X fleet wide soon.

You're correct. Three drinks loaded on the Seapass card each evening and can be used in the lounge, MDR and bars from 5 to 7. Except no drinks loaded on the Seapass card the first night of the cruise and another night later in the cruise for the Senior Officers party.

Little Britain: This is correct: servers now take your card when you get your free drinks.  I was on both Equinox (Celebrity) and Majesty of the Seas in the last 6 weeks.  You are limited to 3 during the hours posted.  Not to say that some servers don't break this rule, but it is the new policy.  BTW, they have added the allowance to have the drinks served in the dining room as well as most bars around the ships.

How soon Kathy?? Do you think it will effect my cruise in 2 weeks?

I find the men to be better . And i would generalize  even more but that may not be ethical. And may be rightly so.

Everyone is entitled to their opinion which I respect.

Pauline and I both agree that regarding hoovering our cabins the ladies are much better.

My opinion, you should take your female cabin attendant discussion to another thread.    :classic_dry:  LOL

On my most recent voyage, the main dining room was tricky, one night we got charged, another night we did not - and it was the same assistant waiter that took our order.

I ordered a frozen drink - and found out when I handed my card, that frozen drinks were not allowed - so I paid - but was a little miffed, since I've been going to the same casino bartender all week - he could have told me prior.

I found them to be very strict with the timing - ours was 4:30 - 8pm - and I asked at 8:07 and was told "no".  Lost all 3 drinks that night - because our dinner was 5:30pm and I didn't go to the lounge first, and didn't get out of dinner until 7:30.  Oh well.

That's because it's coded that way into the point of sale terminals - the only way for the bartender to get around that is to not swipe your card at all (or the time on the POS terminal being off).

Someone else brought it back up and I was respectful in replying to them.

I originally posted this a couple of months ago.

As D+ on Independence 3 weeks ago we never went to the Diamond lounge but used our 3 drinks each in Boleros and the champagne lounge before going to Giovanni's speciallity restaurant for our evening meals.
