RoyalUP? (Bid for stateroom upgrade)

Well I went ahead and bid for the JS and GS. Did both at a bit over minimum. Went to check the page and right away the GS is showing an ability to modify/cancel, but JS is showing pending no option to modify/cancel.  This is literally a few minutes after putting in the bid. Cruise is two months away. Interesting.

Curious is anyone has a similar situation to this. We’re in a balcony guarantee 3/26 Mariner.

I received the royal up email a few hours after check in opened. I could bid on a spacious balcony all the way up to a 2 bed GS. Bid on all but the balcony cabin.
Balcony rooms for a 4 pax appears to be sold out. Available suite is owners.

What was your outcome on a sold out guarantee? We’re you upgraded or win the royal up bid?

I leave in 5 weeks and also am experiencing the exact same situation.

Just because it's showing sold out doesn't mean that your GTY room isn't available.  It just means they aren't selling any more in that category, likely due to reduced capacity at this point.

You'll still get your GTY balcony unless you win your bid.

Oh, was there previously a “sale” with lower minimum bids on that cabin for your cruise?  And I suppose if the current minimum bid is now higher, perhaps you must meet that new minimum if you adjust your bid.

Hmmm me too. Bid on spacious balcony. I clicked on adjust and couldnt. Only bid higher. Dont really care, just bid for fun. First time bidder.

You really know inventory for certain by doing a mock booking.  Cabins enough for gty may have been removed already.  Furthermore, final payment date has not yet passed; some people may not pay.  Others may cancel or change later.

I checked my Royal up bids today and the spacious ocean view balcony is showing pending while all the others are showing expired. Based on what I have read on this thread that seems to be a good sign. So far my credit card has not been charged and nothing is updated on the website but hopefully that happens today.  We were in an ocean view on deck 3 and we bid $45pp (which was only $10 over the minimum bid) for the spacious balcony of the 2/25 sailing on Independence of the seas.

Harmony Feb 20 Sailing - has anyone heard about their bid-up?  I keep checking and it says Pending.  Guess that is better than sorry LOL

My bids are pending as well.  We are booked in a Boardwalk balcony now.  We are fine with that, but certainly would be happy to snag an upgrade.  From what category are you starting? I have not seen an RoyalUp successes mentioned on the roll call last I checked.  There seem to be a wide bar of cabins available to book, leading me to believe RoyalUp has not completed it’s work.  I believe Biker’s post slides to the fact that if we get “sorry” emails they will come late in the process.  Acceptances can happen anytime.

Quick question on Oasis out of NJ - anyone remember what the minimum bid was for OV balcony to JS/GS etc. I searched the board but didn't find any info. Thanks!

Every cruise is different, every payment on the cruise could be different.  RCCL is going to maximize the money so what I bid for an upgrade, my total price could still be less that what you paid prior to upgrade.

No easy way to ID, just go with what you are comfortable with.

Does anyone know what category for Royal Up the panoramic suite would be? I see some available on my upcoming cruise.

It's considered a suit and whether RCI decides to add it to UpBid ... no one will know until it shows up.

That depends on what kind of balcony it is (B, C or D) but the min usually starts at $100 and goes up from there.

Thanks. Previously for Anthem it seemed the Royal Up starting bids (for me at least starting from an OV Balcony) were at $200 pp but I think they were always from D categories.

I know this has been mentioned before but I thought I would bring it up again.

For those who may be in a casino comp or even if they have already upgraded that comp, make sure that you check and see what the cost would be to upgrade directly BEFORE you put in a RoyalUp bid.  I checked today on one of my comps and the minimum RU bid was more than double what it would have cost to upgrade directly.  Just a reminder.

Always worth a shot calling! For my April sailing they quoted me $3,000 for an upgrade from D balcony to JS... Royal up is at $200 minimum. Not paying $3,000 for a JS but $500-$600 I would be happy with :). Pricing another comp for August. They are asking $2,100 to upgrade from 2 comp ovb 4D to a 3person balcony 5D on oasis. And $4,000 for a JS.. I guess I am just asking for popular dates.

Yikes !  Those upgrades sound really high !  They only wanted $3000 for me to upgrade my interior to a JS on Wonder....which surprised me.

OK, but minimum bids do not mean much.  Hypothetically Plusgrade could set the minimum bid to upgrade from a balcony to a full suite on Oasis at $10; I’d bid way more than that minimum along with so many others. I’d bid the same amount (my perceived value for my party on that particular cruise) whether they set the minimum at $10, $100  or $500…until the minimum exceeds my perceived value, then I’m out.

We are doing a 5 day cruise on the Adventure of the Seas in May.   Have been on the ship and suite perks ehhh- no real suite deck and a makeshift suite lounge , no suite restaurant.  Since we are with family they all booked balcony cabins-  We did also- now I am sorry and would have preferred a Junior suite- but alas non available now- if royal up  is offered will bid.

Sure but my limit for what I would pay for a JS is much less than what upgrade costs the usual way. If I get it great. If not, I already love the room I'm in so no loss really.
