I believe there is a disclaimer on RoyalUp saying either the cabin or the balcony might be larger; I think the photo is misleading. If you won on Harmony, I suspect you might be assigned a cabin with a larger balcony and you would not know the location on the ship (so it could be noisy). Personally, if I were already in an OV balcony in a location I liked, I would not bother to bid for the “spacious balcony” category, as I might pay to end up with a bigger balcony but in a location I liked much less. Just my opinion. I don’t know what BOV means. The GS is a nice option, especially as that bid is within budget. Remember you will get suite lounge access with drinks, Coastal Kitchen, suite Sun deck, VOOM internet, and a bit higher gratuities. Agreed. The "Spacious Oceanview" can be a real downer when you realize the "Upgrade" We just got one on Oasis. The balcony appeared to be about a foot wider than the regular. Sorry the BOV was Balcony Ocean View , that is because this ship has other balconies that look in to central park and forum, and those do not face out side to ocean only. what is the Ultra Spacious ocean view balcony room look like? and JS was only 250 min , so we put a bid in on that as well. Toddcan Posted February 17 #6879 Share Posted February 17 I had a Spacious Balcony (on the hump) on the FoS, and a few weeks ago, put in a $150pp bid on a Junior Suite, and a few other higher bids on a GS, OS, and RS. Just today, I decided to check the pricing on a JS for me to actually pay for one after I noticed an Aft JS was open (LOVE those cabins). At first he told me it was a $320 (total) upgrade, so I pulled the trigger. Then as he was processing it, he said that the price dropped to $160 (Total) upgrade cost. So, now I have an Aft JS for less than half what my Royal Up bid was. I asked him about the best way to handle my Royal Up bids and he said just go and cancel the JS bid, which I did. I left the GS, OS, and RS bids active. FWIW, our sailing is Mar 14.

I know the Oasis class neighborhood vs oceanview balconies very well, having sailed many times on Oasis Class. I just have not seen anybody use the BOV abbreviation. The space you were thinking of, by the way, is called “Boardwalk” not “forum”; if on board you ask for directions to the forum, I do not know where they might send you, LOL. How many in your party? I believe the Ultra-spacious balconies have a set of bunk beds as well as a sofa bed, so they are nice for large families, especially ones with kids. I have no use for the bunk beds and did not bid on those for the requested minimum bid. If you google it, you can find video tours on you tube if you think it might interest you. I would expect you to get a new set of Royal offers (new minimum bids) from JS, though it may take days (last one I recall said theirs took six days to repopulate with new offers after an upgrade)

Rare barbiecruiser27 Posted February 17 #6883 Share Posted February 17 My bids for 3/11 Independence of the Seas sailing- just booked 2-3 days ago and got email this am (2/17). Booked 3V interior (literally the only 3 pax room available when we booked) My Bids: Spacious Interior: $30/pp ($15 min) Ocean view: $20/pp ($20 min) Spacious oceanview: $35/pp ($25 min) Spacious Panoramic Oceanview: $55/pp ($30 min) Ultra spacious Oceanview: $55/pp ($35 min) We didn't bid balcony- was a $75/pp min and not worth IMO for a 3 night cruise Will keep posted if we get any of them- fingers crossed we get one of the larger rooms since we will have 3 guests

We are in the same situation as @Lisa&Neb on the same cruise, and 2 of our bids have expired and one is still pending. It will not let us re-bid on the 2 expired bids, nor will it let me cancel or raise the bid on the pending one. The cruise is in just over 3 weeks.

cruiselvr04 Posted February 18 #6891 Share Posted February 18 I have 4 bids out for Odyssey coming up. OS, 2 bed GS, GS and JS. JS now says upgrade unavailable. OS still able to modify. The others still say pending. No clue as to what any of it means except I was hopeful to get a JS as I put in the max bid. I know there were some loft suites still available a week ago. Hoping those from suites were upgraded and we will move up but who knows?

The “30 day” notice seems to be a pretty generic error message for the RoyalUp system. It comes up if I go to the site very soon after I book (even if cruise is soon), if I make a typo, or if it is indeed too soon. I believe those not invited to bid (including those whose travel agencies do not participate) get such messages, too. Yeah, my last cruise I got that right up to sailing date. While my friend that booked at the same time through the same TA had no problem getting in. For whatever reason I wasn't eligible on that cruise. OSUZorba Posted February 18 #6893 Share Posted February 18 Shockingly I got my RoyalUp for my March 13th Liberty Cruise. Went from a JS to GS. I big just inside the "good" range @ $640/ea. The $640x2 plus my original fare put the fare&fees right at 5K, which I thought was fair for a GS for 3 people on Spring Break. When I booked back in October there was nothing higher than a JS. Based on our roll call a lot of other people got their Royal Ups today as well. 2

seasidemama Posted February 18 #6895 Share Posted February 18 Quick question. If you win a bid what merchant appears on the credit card statement? Is is Royal Caribbean or another company?
