On sea days on Carnival's longer cruises, the brunches alternate with breakfast and lunch in the MDR. I assume you are talking about longer cruises like journey cruises. I know on 7 and 8 day cruises the MDR is never open for lunch, although the sea day brunch hours overlap with what most people would call lunch hours. phoneman69 Posted May 20, 2019 #29 Share Posted May 20, 2019 Yes they are open for normal lunch as well. Sea Day Brunch is a treat though
Tracey.kinney425 Posted May 20, 2019 #30 Share Posted May 20, 2019 My blue card butt 😉 will be on deck 11 for embarkment lunch and steakhouse for dinner and free bottle of wine, figure I will have plenty of other days to try the offerings on Lido when it won't be as busy because people will be eating at all different times.

Smart, because the buffet is a ZOO on embarkation day! I wish the MDR WAS open for lunch on that day! I tried the Pasta Bar on my last cruise, and I really wasn’t impressed. I’m sure the dinner offerings (for a fee) are better, but the Caesar salad was way too fishy for my liking.

Don't get the free bottle of wine, it is not a good wine. Instead, get a significant discount on a bottle of your choice.

It was great, and avoided the inevitable crowds in the buffet. What’s the equivalent with Carnival (we’ll be on the Sunrise) - what’s usually open for embarkation day lunch? How much did you pay for Chops?

It was on Freedom and looks to be on my upcoming Glory cruise. On Dream Class it's an Italian Restaurant with pasta for lunch. Vista it's split in half with half being the Italian restaurant with pasta for lunch and the other half being JiJi's asian with Mongolian Wok for lunch. phoneman69 Posted August 3, 2019 #38 Share Posted August 3, 2019 Embarkation lunch will start with BBQ on deck 5 of the Magic. Then i am told Red Frog does 1/2 price drinks between 12pm and 2pm.

Just like everyone else here, my first few cruises revolved around the buffet because it's the easiest and most obvious target of opportunity when it comes to eating. I agree! On 5/17/2019 at 9:46 AM, Squadleader said: So I encourage everyone to not to let other people govern how they express themselves. The fun of all this is seeing other points of view, we may not have even considered. These boards are an incredible wealth of information for making your cruise experience better by understanding how the complex picture of all amenities of a ship work together, and also understanding the behavior of the other passengers. Hopefully, we're all dodging left when they're dodging right! If I can't figure out how to dodge crowds, I just wouldn't even go. Wise words to live by! Let's all just learn to get along, to share and to be nicer to each other!
Bookbug53 Posted August 3, 2019 #40 Share Posted August 3, 2019 We always head to Cucina del Capitano. Deck 10 aft, above the buffet AND the inevitable crowds. FYI - Wine menu is very restricted at lunch if you order off the provided menu but we grab something at atrium bar and head up.

Dream has the Pasta Bella venue because it wasn't built with a full galley to cook the range of dishes that Cucina serves. On the other ships with Cucina, the made to-order pasta lunch is called The Captain's Pasta Bar but is held in the Cucina venue.
