Very true.

I am not sure what they mean by “Monte Carlo style”. THE Casino in MC suggests that one wear a jacket after 8 PM has a photo ID  as well as a Euro 10 entry fee - neither one these is required on Oceania to play. 😁

Maybe it is in contrast to a Las Vegas style casino - whatever that is.

Disclaimer - other than playing blackjack once every ten years or so, I know nothing about casinos. 😊

Going to sound elementary but what is a Monte Carlo Style Casino?

Oceania advertises their casinos as Monte Carlo style, but I have no idea what that means.

A Monte Carlo Casino is one in which what we would consider traditional games of chance such as Poker, Blackjack, Baccarat and Craps are played.

This makes them distinct from Japan or Macau style Casino's where card based games are rarer,  and the scope of the gambling is much wider.

Recently my friends and I were not allowed to play in the Grande Casino in Monte Carlo (during the day) because we had sandals on! Had to have closed toe shoes...probably saved me some money in the long run!  😉   But the place was gorgeous and at least we got to see it.

That was what I was going to suggest with Baccarat being the biggest difference from most casinos on cruise ships.

Do they play Baccarat on O? I admit I spend very little time there but don't think I've seen it played.

I thought it meant they have really antiquated slots.

YES!...unfortunately.

Oh, I don't feel that way.  We live in Reno and there are the la-dee-da ones and the ones that are small but not seedy.  We go to both.

I was referring to some seedy ones I've been to. The question was if anyone had been to a NOT nice one that's NOT on a ship...I have.

If you are a craps player, you might want to be aware they have single odds. Unlike other cruise lines and casinos all over the world.

Thanks for the information.

I guess I will steer away from the craps table on our cruise.

Not sure that's true any more since NCLHoldings went with Casinos At Sea as the casino management team. I'll know in 2 weeks 🙂

I'd assumed Oceania casinos were smaller than NCL, etc. since the ships are smaller, but it sounds like they are a bit outdated as well.  That's fine by me because I am booked on my first Oceania cruise on Insignia specifically for the Bermuda itinerary and not particularly to gamble.  However, since my cruise has been comped by Casinos At Sea I am wondering how little to no play may or may not impact my future CAS comps?

Does anyone have experience with this?
