Drinks on Us question

I just got off the phone with Carnival and they said that I have DOU for the cruise I have booked next month. I've heard of the program, but we have never used it. We gamble a little every night, but never enough to reach the threshold to be eligible. In this case, however, the rep said that there is no threshold. The offer I have received is apparently good right from the start of the cruise with no minimum level of gambling required.

Does that sound right? Do they often make an offer like this?

She did say that only I am eligible on this casino offer. My daughter, who is my travel companion for this trip, is not receiving the offer even though we are in the same room on the same booking.

I'm not knocking it! Just want to be sure this is correct before I go crazy ordering drinks in the casino. 😉

It will be tied to your folio.  Just check the first drink slip they will give you to sign and tip, it should say 0.00

If you booked a casino offer and that was one of the perks, then Yes, it's legit.

However, the DOU card is only good in the casino and you have to be actively playing before someone will approach you to get a drink. You can't just walk up to the casino bar or any other bar and order a drink and expect them to honor the DOU card.

So if the drink is free, would you consider $1 per drink to be an adequate tip?

Yes.
BTW, Some casino offers allow for you AND your traveling companion to get free drinks in the casino.  Some don’t.

And in terms of active gambling, if you are on your way to let’s say, comedy, just sit at a slot machine and order something. The servers aren’t checking if you are really playing. But agree with above. You can’t order at the casino bar.

I often went and found a server, gave her/him my order and told her/him I would be playing right over there and point to where I am going to play, or wait for my drink.  Never a problem.  Sometimes you can wait a long time waiting for a server, sometimes they are saying "DRINKS" every 5 minutes.  But you are only allowed 15 per day, same as the cheers program.

Would it be uncouth to sit at the bar and feed a $20 into the machine and do a spin or two, order a drink, and then cash out and leave as soon as you get your drink?

We often like to gamble at the bar, because you get faster service. Alternatively, could I sit at a slot right next to the bar, order a drink and tell them, I'm playing right here?

How do you find out if your offer gives one to your companion too?

you can either call the main number for Carnival, or call the Carnival players club which keeps track of that and maybe faster.  They will look up your booking number.

I frequently would wait for my cocktail before I even started playing.  I hated losing 40 bucks before I even got a drink.  Your card just needs to be in the machine, so they can get your number off it, I think.  Anyways I'd order a drink and take it and run to a show or comedy.  They do not seem to care.  I never came close to the 15 allowed.  I would gamble every day a little bit anyway, so no guilty feelings here, LOL

There is no bar or servers early in the morning.  Morning is one of my favorite times to play the slots.  They are all open, LOL  I was a tad disappointed that I couldn't get a mimosa or baileys and coffee.

OH man lol..wonder what time they start serving in the morning?  I want a bloody mary!

Not sure, but I think the fun times would say what time the Casino Bar opens.  I don't remember, because I don't think I ever looked, LOL  I know it was around 10 or 11 am, and there was one server I had to track down.  I didn't save my fun times either, but there posted here somewhere.

My daughter got this on our last cruise. She had to go to the casino cage and they gave her something to add to her card to show she had DOU. Not sure if she would of automatically got it or not.

Unfortunately, it was only for her and not me also!

This is incorrect on the 15 a day same as the cheers program. Have never had them limit the drinks on the DOU.

Sorry but this is correct,  lol. I just sailed on the Panorama and when I got my DOU card this is what I was told. I never reached my limit.

You can not order from the bar.  It must be from a server running the floor.  There are no slots at the bar either.

Yes, I'm confusing the ship with land based casinos which often have slots at the bar.

The Carnival rep that I was speaking to yesterday did tell me there was a 15 drink limit with this DOU offer.

Good info from everyone. Thanks for your help.

Nope. There is definitely a 15 drink per day limit on the DOU card. I've never hit the limit with my DOU card, but was informed of the limit on multiple cruises when I pick up the card from the casino hosts.

I can tell you with out a doubt I was at 14 drinks on cheers when I got the DOU and had at least 6 more drinks that night on the DOU.
