So an AC tech came out to the house this morning to see what's wrong...WITH a sales rep. Hmmmm...

The verdict: "we can replace the motor ($2,800) but they are not in stock and won't be available until late August.

Or NEXT WEEK we can rebuild the entire unit for $6,500. Or best option complete replacement $12,000."

Anyone else see anything wrong with this? Wouldn't a motor be included with options 2 & 3?

Of course the sales rep was calling every hour until John told him he found a replacement motor on-line for $500.

I can hear my Wife now saying, always going for the cheapest way out Jimbo!!

You never drove in or out of Manhattan?

In all honesty, there is no good reason to ever drive in or out of Manhattan. None.  There isn't anywhere you can't get to that isn't accessible by subway, commuter rail, or bus. The whole island should be turned into one gigantic pedestrian mall with the only vehicles allowed being taxi, Uber and delivery trucks.

I am amazed that Lenny has never driven off of Long Island. Although driving in and out of Long Island (technically Queens and Brooklyn but same thing) is only slightly less aggravating than driving in Manhattan.  Every time I'm stuck on the Throgs Neck Bridge on the way to Jones or Robert Moses beach, I tell myself there has to be a better way.

I still change my own oil and brakes on my car.   I taught Eric how to do this years ago.   Back in the day (sorry for using that) I could do tuneups, change out starters, alternators, carburetors, belts, radiators, etc etc.   Changed engines and tranny's with Dad and Brother when restoring cars.  Even body work as a beginner.   I miss those days hanging out in garage with my Dad.

Awesome, Debbie!  My neighbor (female) across the street, amazes me also.  She grew up learning to be a mechanic in her Mom's garage.  Not only does she know all things mechanical (she came over last year and worked on my lawn mower), but she makes beautiful furniture in her garage, among other things.  She took me on a tour of her huge vegetable garden, etc.

I know I've said it before on here...you are so Blessed to have had the loving relationship with your Dad.🥰

Happy Birthday, love that place, of course our visits were usually a bit earlier in the morning, or should I say later at night.  Always a hopping place.  Your posts bring back many happy memories from LBI, enjoy your birthday on the island.

Thank you April.     Yes, we have done many late night/early morning munchies at the Chicken or the Egg too.

today is mostly cloudy and was quite chilly on the beach so we just went for another bike ride.    I think we are over 10 miles today. Going to read on my deck and try to catch whatever UV rays I can before we have to get ready for Howards French Fried Lobster tonight.  They have the best Lobster Bisque too!

Enjoy your day😃

Good Job, definitely pays to check out for yourself.    I feel like so many businesses are making excuses and "jacking" up prices when unnecessary to do so.

I love all these kitty pictures.   That is the only part about traveling I don't like.   I miss my Sparky and Eva.

Sounds just like my Wife. Our travel is greatly controlled by our cats. There was a time when we had older cats that were put down because one issue or another. We said then never again are we ever going to get any more animals.............That didn't last long, now we have 4 cats. 🙂

I moved to Long Island in 2003 and last drove anywhere that same year .I fell asleep while driving one day and nearly drove into somebody’s house.

My family would not let me drive after that. When I lived in Brooklyn and worked in Manhattan I traveled via subway and or by bus. When I worked in Brooklyn I drove .Whenever I went into Manhattan for pleasure I took a bus.

We do a lot of the home improvement/repair jobs ourselves.  My husband can fix or build almost anything but also knows when to call a pro.  He also knows if they are doing the job correctly or not and will be on hand watching while they do it.  We don't do tile but have done wooden floors.  He can hang ceiling fans and do small electrical jobs but did have the electrician out to hook up the generator.  I tackle the painting jobs although he will pick up the roller and do the big parts while I cut in.  This spring we rented a lift and spent a weekend trimming up the trees close to the house.

Same here...We've always done most of the home improvement/repair jobs ourselves;  especially Jim, though!  Jim even renovated our bathroom in Naples this past Winter after having his knee surgery (which he now admits doing the tiling on the floor did NOT help with his knee).  We have hired tree companies over the past 5 years to take down many of our trees here, though.  The one time Jim and his  pals took down a tree (we were in our mid-20's)  one of the guys wasn't paying attention, and the tree pulled the wires down which were attached to our neighbors siding.  Thank goodness she was a great and understanding neighbor..lol!

Roger rents a lift when he needs to trim trees.  If he can pull a tree down with a tractor he will but otherwise he will have it done by the pros.

Hope it's not hurting too, too much!

What a wonderful nostalgic trip your daughter has created for your Dad!  Beautiful and loving!

I thought my sister has s lot of cats.  She has 4 all black.  One of them lives only in the Master bedroom with them since the others pick on that one.  They have litter boxes everywhere  They are having trouble finding a cat sitter for their next trip

For my Birthday breakfast we went to the Chicken and Egg - they are really expanding and have taken over almost the whole block (main dining room, new dining room on one side, then on other side is a new take out section then at corner is a pizza parlor to open soon.

Then rode our bikes down to Holgate and wandered around a bit, now back home and getting ready for the beach.     Clouds are rolling in - I'm not happy about that as I love my Sunshine😃

It's your Birthday today????

Happy Birthday Debbie!  I wish you all the best as your celebrate!🥰

Good for you for questioning. I would be giving their company a horrible review online for pressure sales.
