Well, Henri has come and gone. No power at my house.

Glad you are safe but dealing with a power outage is no fun.

Pictures of the new "digs" with happiness of clean convenience again.

Looks great and relaxing. I like the fact everything is on one level.

Time to go make some homemade marinade for the Halibut.  🙂  And then...it's happy hour!!  ☺️

Homemade marinade, now that sounds interesting.

I really like this bridge as it’s wide open with nothing on top of you and it’s low enough above the water line it’s as if you are driving on water. On weekends there’s no traffic on the 3 lane bridge but on weekday commutes, this bridge can be parking lot. I have been stuck on it many times on bad traffic days.

This reminds me a little bit of the Chesapeake Bay Bridge and Tunnel.

The scenery outside of the restaurant is nice.

That restaurant looks familiar.  I think we have eaten there.  What is the name of it?

We flew into, and out of both SFO and Oakland this year.  Choice of airport depended on which one had a direct flight and a good time.   I hated that we had to fly from Cleveland instead of Pittsburgh, because Pittsburgh is a more convenient drive for us.  SFO is nice, because we can get a bus from there that will take us to a couple miles from our son’s house. We must have picked good times for our Oakland flights, because traffic was light when our son picked us up or dropped us off there.  Guess it all depends on the time and day of the week.

My wife and I went to visit the in laws yesterday in San Francisco – land of eternal fog and cool temperature.  Even in middle of August, it was only 62 degrees at 4 PM and the sun never came out.  As we approach the city about 5 miles out, you can see the sky turn gray like in the movies and after you are in the “zone”, it’s all gray.  You know you have money to burn if you have air condition installed in your home in SF for the 10 days per year when it’s over 80 degrees.

Parking in SF is always a challenge.  Especially if you have a minivan. Had to perfect my parallel parking skills through the years to try and park the van every time we visit.

Went to a Chinese bakery on Clement Street and got bunch of sweet/fattening stuff that’s not good for you but tastes good. These became our breakfast for today as well as dessert later today.

As we live on the other side of the bay, we had to drive across the San Mateo Bridge.  All my fellow bay area cruisers knows of this bridge very well but I doubt most people outside of the bay area even heard of this bridge as the Golden Gate bridge is probably the only bridge knows about from the bay area. The Bay Bridge is really the work horse bridge in the bay area with San Mateo bridge also picking up the slack transporting thousands of commuters to Silicon Valley jobs (pre-Covid).

View of another bridge further south in the Bay – Dumbarton Bridge – where you would find Facebook’s HQ right after you exit.

Foster City is where I used to live.  Most of my family are all in Foster City still.  We use the Dumbarton Bridge when we want to go to Chevy's in Union City.

I looked online last night...still some Ocean balconies available.  I'm going to call my TA tomorrow if I get the chance.  🙂

Yes!

Well, Henri has come and gone. No power at my house. Very typical of anytime the wind blows. National Grid needs to do some updating. They know the area is a weak spot. So I'm hanging out at my parent's house. Lost part of a tree in my yard but no house damage. I already chain sawed the tree to pieces and will take the rest of it down soon. No problems at my parent's house or the office. Both are further from the ocean than my house.

Back to work tomorrow.

Good you didn't have any damage but no electricity is a PITA.  Hope it gets back on soon.

Thanks...all settled in now and enjoying all the conveniences of being back into civilization!  Extra large office to use as well, with view of the lake as I type!  🙂

So glad to see you posting again!  Your new place is lovely with another million dollar view.  Enjoy!
