I was curious so I also looked it up. Do any of them still hold a grudge from the past?

It’s not even talked about much today.  However a museum has been opened in the core😉 of Lucan, with its main focus commemorating the event. Some say the community got away with murder, as when it went to trial the lynch mob was acquitted.

When my dad was alive he was an architect.  His firm did the restoration of the court house almost 100 years later, where the trial was held.  They restored the attached jail shortly thereafter.  During the process they recovered some unknown bodies buried there of criminals that died, either from hanging or natural causes.  At mom’s house hanging on the wall is a large restored window from the court house, to which the County gifted him after the job was completed.  It’s be there for around 40 years now.

I found this show about the fateful night.  If you have 40 minutes, like history, a little CSI action and unsolved mystery it might be worth watching. As it turns out the old school I posted photos of last night is indeed where the mob gathered that fateful night.

Once I unwrap all my gifts, I put them back under the tree. Then every day,  I'll take one or two out. Often times I forget what I got so it's a surprise all over again.

I'm the only one in the family that does this.

Laura does that. I haven't picked up her 'nice things' in years

I love history and I'll definitely watch it. Thanks for the link.

Was quite interesting.  Of course I'm obsessed with Investigation ID channel.  Reminds me a bit of the Hatfields vs McCoys

MxCoy family took a beating but at least they had a fighting chance.

speaking of history...i have done my entire family plus Nate’ genealogy on Ancestry.

My mom connected with a gal she went to high school with who turns out to be her 4th cousin. Anyway, she sent mom some cool family history today. Homer was my great grand uncle and he made this wooden ornament 112 years ago. inscribed: “ God bless us all! Though I am but a little boy, I have a word to say. God bless us all both large and small, this happy Christmas day!”

He was my grandma’s dad’s brother. lol. History truly amazes me.

I was watching a program on house buying in Greece yesterday and there was a plaque in memory of Homer the Greek poet.

Is this the same Homer Crystal?

In my late dad's Italian ancestors the great painter Giovanni Bellini from Venice is a relative of ours.

I hope Nate is recovering well.

Stay safe and enjoy new year's eve.

Graham

So we had a small amount of excitement this morning caused by Lucy. She was gone for a couple days.  She spent a few nights where she was born. She walked down the laneway with our neighbour on her return home and then continued on her way home.

Out of nowhere came a fox and the two of them had a standoff.  By the time he got his rifle Lucy was up a tree. The neighbour drove over and chased the fox away but didn’t get him.  Needless to say she enjoyed the ride home. Sadly the foxes will have to go sooner than later.

We did find out that Lucy was sleeping in their shop, on a blanket under their heater. No wonder she didn’t want to walk home yesterday in the pouring rain just above freezing. 😉

Other little thing going on today, it’s my birthday. Food porn to come later.

The coolest item was a Canadian National Park Pass from 1937.  I actually found it a few months ago and got it, but Lisa wrapped it up and surprised me with it.😉 It’s made of brass and back in the day you would screw or wire it onto your car.

Happy to hear Lucy is OK.  She's such a sweetheart.
