Royal Caribbean Cruisers -- How Are Things Where You Are? (was "Routine" 😁 day in lockdown... how was yours?)

Recommended Posts

It’s been a very Hot and Humid summer in Florida. Today was the coolest it’s been since early April. I lead a 150+ mile through Florida farmland. Nice turns but flat. It’s nice to see it cool down some. It was 71* when I left the house this morning and didn’t get above 82* on my ride. We practice social distancing and have a bag lunch where we can find a table. Today was a park in Crescent City.

wow what a beautiful place for lunch!

I’ve doing bag lunch rides since end of March. We practice proper social distancing. We used to ride to lunch and then back. There was a saying, “we ride to eat”.  Lol. I think many of us are getting used to the bag lunch. Typically, if we go to a restaurant, we are there from an hour to two hours. Not to mention the expense. We can have our bag lunch in 30 minutes and back to riding.

I have been putting over 20k+ miles on my motorcycles every year. I have 12k on my car in 2 years.

Latest weapon has arrive.  No videos yet.

Also some excitement at the cottages. Day one of the beach reclamation and shore line protection project.  Georgian Bay is at record 100 year level highs and next year appears to have the same problem brewing. We are just getting in under the wire with one with an emergency repair permit after an engineering study. The other two will get permits in a month with work to be completed next year. They will get a basic wall construct this fall and done properly in 2021. Just think giant Lego.

The toe stones were dropped off, around 4 tons each arrived.  They alone took 4 transport trucks from Northern Ontario. 180 tons of that type of stone, with another 410 tons of revetment stone, combined with the wall already there. I’ve learned a lot about this process over the last 4 weeks.

The 22 ton excavator just cleared the cottage and the cedar hedge shared with the neighbour.  I have operated one but am thankful that I did not have to go through this tight spot. The contractor has been sending pics and mom just got there on her trip home from Western Canada. Good thing she didn’t see the photo in real life.

Siding is white but it sure pulls on the red from the excavator arm.

Our new sofa is coming on Friday. Our old one was from 1920, purchased at a garage sale. John had to carve a new back leg and we had it recovered...38 years ago. We rarely used the living room as we are usually in the den.  After 10 years of the dogs using it as a bed it was beyond cleaning so we just threw it out.

Next up - remove wall paper and paint, new curtains, replace coffee table, maybe recover the side chair.

so when we bought our house in 2016, the living room had a huge burnt red wall and 15yr old carpet. in 2018 I painted the wall and we got porcelain tile floors installed while we were on our greek isles cruise...BUT we still had this awful uninviting couch...on cement blocks.

FINALLY we have a new couch. I’m looking for a rug, but oh my goodness I’m thrilled. It does fold into a regular couch as well.

I wish I knew how to post pictures.  I made two rock gardens since being home all Spring and Summer.  One huge oval one in our front yard, and one in our side back yard.  We've had 3 trees taken down in the front, and are having 3 taken down in the back in December..(that's the earliest we could get a tree service...they are so busy here).  Several other outdoor projects have also been going on around here😉.

do you use a computer or your phone browser to look at cruisecritic? or tapatalk app? I can try to walk you through how to upload photos

Hi singalot,  I use my chromebook to go on CC, and take pictures on my android phone, if that helps.  That would be great if you could;  I'm not tech savvy, though🤪  Thank you!

Long and busy day here today.

7am at moms. They headed over to my place after and they were done by noon. They tracked it down the gravel road and Lisa said it looked like a prehistoric animal lumbering down the road. Lucy hid by the pool.

Porch visited with mom after and talked work and her trip out west. She also shared a photo with me the beach wall stone. She is 5’ for scale.  Hopefully I will get up there while they finish the work.  There are 14 stone this size. It’s a bit mind boggling.

Then went to the back of the farm before noon and finally got to see the cutter in action. it makes you appreciate the danger in forestry work.

The left over material drops and will get run over with the skid steer chopper.  I’ll remove the fence on Monday.

Video action. This for hedges is a must IMO. In minutes he did what could take hours if not days by hand. The next pass he just raised the height of the loader.  Spectacular.

Did clean up in the afternoon, a trip to the dealership, then the mall for a retirement gift for an employee and a reward for a days hard work.

A local Ribber has set up his travel trailer for the last month in one spot. As he said it isn’t the same as travelling across Canada to compete but it pays the bills. Happy to support local businesses.

2 racks of pork and 1 of beef found a new home.😋 Gotta say the beef did me in.

I might have had a veggie tonight but my memory is erased by a food koma.

Bolts up 3-1. Maybe second Cup for our Florida Team and it was 92* today. Remind me again, when was the last time a Canadian win the cup?😇

Any born Floridians on that team, 😇(sarcasm emoji) as it hits 84F here today.

If Tampa wins today in Edmonton Canada, it will be an easy trip home for the majority of the players who are from here.  Not to mention, the Europeans that outnumber the Americans, 8 to 6.  And who is your captain.... wait for it.... a Canadian.

We will be watching tonight at 8pm, secretly hoping for a TB loss.  That we can get an extra game or two game before the season is over. No matter the case, we will celebrate the hoisting of the Cup.
