Trevor33 Posted May 3, 2020 #28 Share Posted May 3, 2020 QM2 is off the coast of Weymouth. With her UK home port of Southampton a short distance away she is simply practising Social Distancing.

Yeah, I think that Daily Mail article from yesterday was a bit loose with some of the details. For example, it states "... Queen Victoria - now also docked off the coast of south England ..." when she is of course docked in Southampton. It also states "(QM2) arrived back in England on April 17." when she actually arrived back in Southampton on April 15. But I do appreciate the excellent photos of the three ships at Weymouth/Portland Anchorage.

The QM2 and P&O's Aurora & Ventura are 'temporary at anchor together' in the Portland area, to enable the QM2 and Aurora (using their own tenders) to transfer Indian crew members to the Ventura for repatriation home to India.
Ray66 Posted May 7, 2020 #32 Share Posted May 7, 2020 QM2 is back in Southampton for the day. But then not back until the 15th according to Southampton VTS.
Rare Solent Richard Posted May 7, 2020 #33 Share Posted May 7, 2020 There we were enjoying a beer and nibbles on our balcony minutes ago when, before our very eyes... ...Queen Mary 2 meets Queen Elizabeth.... Much tooting of horns, great atmosphere.
exlondoner Posted May 7, 2020 #34 Share Posted May 7, 2020 I was on board Cunard's QE, when she and her namesake met in the Moray Firth. Again, much excitement.
bluemarble Posted May 15, 2020 #35 Share Posted May 15, 2020 Here's QM2 shining in the early morning light as seen from the Cowes Yachting webcam on "isleofwightwebcams.co.uk" during her arrival into Southampton this morning.
bluemarble Posted May 15, 2020 #36 Share Posted May 15, 2020 Here's another screen capture I took early this morning from the Solent View webcam at "isleofwightwebcams.co.uk" during QM2's arrival into Southampton. This provides another chance to see QM2 with HMS Queen Elizabeth. I didn't post it earlier since I thought there might be a better view when QM2 departs this afternoon. But now HMS Queen Elizabeth has sailed out into the channel, so that opportunity won't present itself this afternoon.
Ray66 Posted May 15, 2020 #37 Share Posted May 15, 2020 QM2 is now off to Weymouth closely followed by the QV which is going to Portland. Azura and Britannia have also left.

IB2 Posted May 15, 2020 #39 Share Posted May 15, 2020 I can see both QM2 and QV sailing by in the evening sun, in excellent visibility. Sad to think that both restaurants will not be humming with life as usual at the start of a voyage.
Ray66 Posted May 18, 2020 #40 Share Posted May 18, 2020 There's a glimpse of the QM2 in Weymouth Bay in this video clip from tonight's news on ITV. There's also coverage of the ships stuck in the Philippines. https://www.itv.com/news/2020-05-18/what-has-happened-to-cruise-ship-staff-stuck-during-coronavirus-lockdown/
Host Hattie Posted May 19, 2020 #41 Share Posted May 19, 2020 Nice report from one of my favourite journalists. Shame they didn't show a bit more of the Cunard ships.
bluemarble Posted May 22, 2020 #42 Share Posted May 22, 2020 It looks like QM2 is at the Nab Anchorage this time. Since she departed Southampton this afternoon, she's been reporting Southampton as her destination, arriving back tomorrow morning at 06:00. But the Southampton VTS cruise ship schedule isn't showing her returning to Southampton until May 29th.

IB2 Posted June 18, 2020 #46 Share Posted June 18, 2020 She’s due in for another visit to Southampton tomorrow, returning to either the Nab or Weymouth in the evening. Meanwhile there’s a batch of other cruise ships from various companies either moored offshore or sailing up and down to enliven the view from here.
bluemarble Posted June 19, 2020 #47 Share Posted June 19, 2020 (edited) Here's today's contribution showing QM2 heading back to Weymouth as seen from the Cowes Yachting webcam on "isleofwightwebcams.co.uk". Thought I'd post this since it looks like QM2 may not be back to Southampton for a while. The Southampton VTS cruise ship schedule doesn't show QM2 back to Southampton until "14-Aug-20 AM". Dranuc2016 Posted July 15, 2020 #49 Share Posted July 15, 2020 QM2 is back in Southampton at the Ocean Cruise Terminal today. It can be seen from the bridge cam of the Norwegian Star, which is docked at QEII Cruise Terminal.
bluemarble Posted July 15, 2020 #50 Share Posted July 15, 2020 It's been almost a month since my last webcam post on this thread, so here's my contribution for today showing QM2 departing this afternoon for Weymouth. Managed to get one of the Red Funnel ferries in the shot this time too. Once again this is from the Cowes Yachting webcam found at "isleofwightwebcams.co.uk".
