annarack Posted May 21, 2021 #1 Share Posted May 21, 2021 Hi, please can someone remind me of the name of the man who writes the excellent cruise port guides I have seen referenced on the P&O board several times before. We used them on our last trip I recall, I thought it was something like Pete's Cruise Ports Guides, but I have obviously got the name wrong and Google is not helping me here! Thank you. BrianI Posted May 21, 2021 #3 Share Posted May 21, 2021 I think you mean Toms Port Guides. However his website seems corrupt but there is some reference on Facebook although not recent. Brian

Contact him through the social network that cannot be named!

Are you suggesting their is a problem with him running the site (it always seemed up front to me ), or that there are issues and the site is not working properly at present? Like you, I have used Toms guides in the past but the link I have used before does not work. This is the link I have used in the past. http://www.tomsportguides.com/index.html Would appreciate if you can find out what has happened. Brian I see your point and I found his FB page which seems to have had no activity, even from other posters since 2019 (I think middle of that year). I hope Tom is ok and in good health. That is a useful link to Peter Dagnall's port guides - thank you. "Tom's Port Guides" are a different thing though and not P&O based. He is American if I remember correctly and had an extremely comprehensive website for many ports around the world, which does not now seem to be working. Thanks, I know of both them, got them muddled up, I've used both and are very good I think. I didn't realise that Tom's Guides were no longer available

As Brian said if anyone can turn up any more please let us know. It would be worth paying to access some of his guides for some ports as they were very good, with lots of details/maps.

I hope all is well with Tom and thank him for all the work that has gone into the guides.

My mum will phone me from a traffic jam to ask me if I know what the hold up is 😄

Torquer Posted June 28, 2021 #24 Share Posted June 28, 2021 Tom's complete website, including all the PDFs is available from the web archive.org site: https://web.archive.org/web/20200507004112/https://www.tomsportguides.com/port-guides.html They are simply the best guides available for practical information about ports. Hopefully, Tom's real site will come back online soon and that he will continue making these guides, now that cruising is slowly resuming.
