But it sops up the butter from the escargot so well!!

we tricked my mom into trying Escargots à la Bourguignonne without telling her what they were. She doesn't speak much English or French.... Then we took turns giggling at her as she was asking everyone what she'd just tried... My poor mom. 🙂

Many thanks John and all the others for this magnificent food thread, I'm only at the middle of it to appreciate. Hope cruising to return the normal ASAP.

Meanwhile forgive me the off-topic, but I so need to make it to add to some of the wonderful photos given here:

It seems for me pretty much clear that what I can call as "Affordable Elegant Environment" (AEE) is starting to fade out on the cruise industry history. Those classy and comfy ships that were affordable are going away...

Some 20 years ago, pretty much any other mainstream cruise line vessel would to be AEE on its building structure from the beginning. Now, not anymore!... Mainstream cruising is becoming just another commodity among others. Let us to have top notch entertainment, loads of high tech novelties per ship, tonnes of kid friendly activities... At the cost of let us to pick you the quickest we can, and oh, yeah, let us to get us free from you even faster than we picked you, so be content enough yourselves with whatever fast food we can give you in your basic fare!... Oh, well, maybe if you're fortunate enough and willing to pay, Top Celebrity TV Chef Z is more than happy to have you on his brand new Top casual eatery aboard our brand and exciting new next generation ship!...

When I started my cruising "career" nearly 18 years ago, it was on the advent of the end of the midnight buffets. At the time Costa and MSC were the unique ones doing it. How fortunate I was for experiencing them for myself with MSC... The new generation cruisers will only know them from photos if they find them either... So many things have moved from those times. Some for the better, some for the worse, but the worst of them all has been the quite recent advent of the end for AEE!...

For now, AEE is being reduced to:

Below Edge class X ships.

Princess ships.

Below World class MSC ships (even though the first 2 Meraviglia class ships are quite a disgrace at that front too and the 3rd one is just a correction tentative that makes it just bearable at best).

Below Freedom class RCI if not modernized yet.

In some 15 years to come that list will likely to be hard shortened, IMHO.

So now: Is there a place for AEE?... Yes there is! But pretty much no one to deliver it for us these days!...

Again: Forget the off-topic, many thanks all and have a nice day!...

Cunard’s Queen’s Grill class is still pretty elegant.

We’re always a huge fan of the unlimited dining plan. It would be our first time on a 7 night on an oasis (symphony) in August. Here’s hoping I can take more pictures of food from that cruise! No idea if it’ll actually go off.

I believe this was the prime rib in the Main Dining Room.

Cunard is not mainstream line, nor is ever built to be Affordable Elegant... It's rather Premium to Luxury one...

Happy to see all the photos.  And, I see a few of my favorites.

Thanks for posting.  Would like to see more MDR photos, Not everyone has access to CK,   or goes to specialty restaurants. I had gotten tired of a few selections, but look forward to eventually ordering  them once again.

Thanks

M

My daughter is also a curry fan.  She had some every night on Majesty too,  October 2018

I know, still culling through my pictures. I should have plenty. Unfortunately I think I had the bright idea to put them all together, and now I can't find them

MDR does a tasty key lime pie

My favorite pie.  I don't remember it looking like that in the MDR.  Last time it was in a cup and was some sort of mousse?  Not the real deal at all OR like the chocolate covered frozen key lime pie on a stick we bought in Key West. OMG beyond delicious.
