It's not a phone.
It's a small portable computer, and quite capable too.

If you can work the computer, you can work a smart-phone.

Being a phone is just one tiny part of its many functions.

I just bought a Samsung A-31, after fooling/frustrated

with a far smaller phone...to discover it's not that different

from my desktop!

Updated the app last night and checked again today.  It updated but everything is still the same.  Nothing new yet.

Where did you go on your phone to do the update? I don't see that option anymore on my iphone.

if we already have the hub installed do we need to reinstall for all the updates?

Yesterday my Hub wouldn't work so I posted on JH facebook page. He and others advised to uninstall and reinstall and that worked. So might not be a bad idea to go ahead and do that since all the upgrades.

App Store - click on your profile in upper right corner - and it will show your apps and updates.  Might have to refresh.  Then Update All.  If it is not there, then you might have auto-update activated and it is updated already.

On Android it shows as 3.8.0.  Current version.

Thanks P.R. I have an Android. So it's time to update. Now I just gotta figure out how. LOL. Or, uninstall and reinstall. Ugghhh.

looks the same.

You need to check the version number of the HuB app. It's located at the bottom of the HuB app opening page. If you uninstalled and reinstalled you probably have the most current version.

A reason someone (like me) would not want to use it is that all I have is a flip phone - pay-as-you-go. I do not want to spend hundreds on a phone that I do not need and would not know how to use.

Doubt if an APP similar to this will ever be required as it is intended to make life easier for everyone. Down the road you might be the only one on the ship not taking advantage of modern day technology but that is OK too. Leaves more bandwidth for the rest of us.

You do not have to spend hundreds of dollars on a smartphone.  Many companies will line up to give you a basic one when you sign a contract.

^^^^ This. When we switched carriers, our new service gave us 2 new Samsung smart phones. I love it. Free phone, great service. It does more than I could ever think to use.  They even threw in Amazon Prime for life! Can't beat that deal.

P.S. I gave up that inefficient flip phone, for a smart phone. Best thing I ever did.

Do you have to purchase internet usage to use the Carnival Hub?

Absolutely no! And there is a text message function that you can purchase for $5.00 for the entire cruise. BUT.....the Hub app will not allow you to access anything except what Carnival publishes...ie: no internet, no texting/calling home/ surfing the internet, etc, etc. Only text messaging to your shipmate and friends on the ship...who have paid that $5.00 fee.

What version do you have now??

How did you update? I've looked around on the app

but I see nowhere to enquire about version number/update.

My version number is 3.8.0  --wondering if there's a version 3.9.0

or maybe even 4.0.0. available now.

I have zero info in my present copy

so it wouldn't be a big deal to uninstall the app

and then download an re-install a fresh version

hopefully with bigger version number?

All suggestions welcome.

I am an old timer & not very tech savvy.   But I found the HUB app pretty easy to use pre pandemic.  And we got our phones for free, no contract required, just $45 per month.  So yes I definitely think it is worth it.

Not working for me either.  I even got a new phone yesterday and reinstalled the app - still the old style.
