Just before the zoom to the linesman I thought I saw Brett front and center on the top deck.  A bit hard to tell with the plexiglass.

I see people in Fairbanks doing that when it's below zero, maybe they just get used to it

They accomplish that - moving the ship ahead or astern - by pulling/heaving on the fwd and aft spring lines
