When Carnival cancels my cruise in November what will they do for us?

JH said today (9-1-21) that still no decision has been made for Nov/Dec on some of these home ports which have not yet begun sailings.  

 

So while I don’t intend to cancel my Nov cruise out of Charleston, I’m starting to feel like this may indeed happen by Carnival.  😢

 

We have a very nice casino deal $315 pp midship on level 7 with $100 gambling money per person.     The last time I personally had a deal this good was NEVER and I bought it last year.   
 

So if Carnival cancels this cruise, if I am able to find a substitute cruise from another port, given that it’s only a few months away, I am guessing the prices will be too high.  
 

Has anyone heard whether any OBC will be offered?  
 

Even if OBC is $300 pp, I don’t think that will help. We already have $800 OBC total and will struggle spending that.  
 

I really wish Carnival would just give gift cards so we could use it for cruise fare.

If you get cancelled up until now they have been giving obc. I rebooked 4 times, each time high. Price is not protected. If you had a casino deal I heard they have been low. There are some great solo deals. 

 

Be looking around for a plan b. They are having enough trouble filling ships that I doubt they will rush to keep restarting more ships as many cancellations as they are getting. 

 

I'm paying pre covid rates for vista, but breeze b2b is a newer booking solo rates. Better by far than vista, but now I'm seeing rates as low as 489 cruisefare plus taxes for 8 days. I hear casino rates are just about free just pay taxes. Have you looked at offers lately?

 

There just was a 48 hour deal pay for ov and get a balcony lots on breeze took.

Yes, I look multiple times each day.  My offers changed today; now less options and more $$.  
 

We will probably end up bailing on this if it cancels.

They will give you FCC for the cruise fare, refund the taxes and port fees. OBC received for the deal does not transfer. You will get $300 or $600 OBC (assuming they use the original cancelation plan). You can then use the FCC to book another cruise at whatever rates they are charging. 

 

I think I may be missing something with OBC and people saying they can't use it. For us, we have $900 so far. We still think that is easily gone and we will put another $500-$700 on top of it. $325 is gone to room gratuities. Souvenirs here and there, casino gambling, maybe a Bingo game, specialty dining, it will all get consumed very easily.

i think they may be referring to the fact they can't use the OBC pre cruise.  Also, how did you get $900?  I assume this is the $600 plus other promotions.  I was only able to get $600 plus a $50 OBC.  unfortunately, since I cancelled my 9/11/21 vista cruise, I lost it but no big deal.

TA and other Carnival OBC offers. The $600 was added to that cruise.

You can always cash out your OBC in the casino, pocket it, then use it as payment towards another cruise.

Yeah, I'm well over 75% sure that our 5-day Ecstasy cruise early December is going to be toast. About a month ago there were plenty of cabins left for all Dec. Ecstasy sailings and then a couple of weeks ago sailings up through mid-December were closed. I called Carnival to inquire, but they wouldn't tell me much, other to say that our particular sailing was closed to new bookings.

Just noticed yesterday that now ALL Ecstasy sailings for December are gone.

I figure the handwriting is on the wall at this point. Our final payment is scheduled for Saturday. So, once again, we'll do the dance of making final payment, waiting for the cruise to be cancelled, then going the FCC/refund process and move funds to a booking for next year.

Carnival has canceled our cruise yet again. The OBC we had previously did not transfer it went away. Carnival gave us a new OBC and our money back in the form of FCC. What is frustrating is we have been canceled multiple times and find a good rate in a cruise for a certain cabin type. That is all out the window and you have to pay the new inflated prices for your next cruise. If the OBC was rolled over for being loyal to Carnival it would cost them way too much so I completely understand. I hope this will be the last time we have to rebook. Happy cruising!

Be thankful that you're getting 600 in OBC.  Carnival could have taken the fork in the road that all of their competitors did and offer 125% in FCC credits.  We had a cabin booked the last week of August on the Oasis that cancelled, with the 125%, we just had enough to pay for a new booking the second week of June next year.

Not sure what you are referring to, perhaps another post. I did not get $600 OBC. I would prefer the 125%. I did not have “just enough” and had to pay the difference. No the OBC did not make up the difference. As I clearly stated I understand why they did what they did it is still frustrating when you have a cabin in mind and have to switch multiple times and pay the new price. There is nothing any of us can do about it. We all get to choose who we sail and when and if what the specific cruise line is offering in return for canceling is worth it. Should my cruise cancel again, I may book further out in hopes of a price that will not cost me more. Happy Cruising

They give $600 OBC for incentive to rebook but $300 for the shorter cruises. Your signature lists Panorama in June 2021 and Miracle in Nov. 2021. Not sure what cruise you were referring to that was cancelled. 

 

Royal was allowing "lift and shift" to rebook at a later date with no price increase. I'll assume that was only early in the pandemic and now they give the 125%.

I think most can sympathize. I know I've been cancelled 3 times on 2 lines. You book a good price on carnival closer in because carnival seems to lower close in prices, and mine got cancelled 3 times. Took refunds all but once, one time I rebooked. 

 

Imo if you are booked carnival also seems to not send you targeted vipf offers others are getting so it costs in more ways than one. Each of 4 times I rebooked with carnival the price was higher. And bothered my ta to move me multiple times to get that best cabin. I think hes about done in with changes and found a side job. I feel bad for tas too. It's been rough on all.

I remove the cruises that cancel as I prefer to only have the ones I actually sail. The poster said I should be happy I got $600. I was letting them know I did not. The lift and shift sounds interesting thanks for sharing that info. I have never sailed Royal but have always had it in my list. Thanks again and as always Happy Cruising!

Yeah we all love cruising for sure. For me I will continue trying to rebook on one line or another in hopes that we can set sail again. I totally agree with the VIFP offers. I keep hoping for a nice offer when I need to rebook but alas the offers are just not there. Thanks and happy cruising!

Firefly posted about the lift and shift which sounds like a good thing. I guess it was only short term as it would be easy to take advantage by rebooking for a peak period if you originally booked off peak. Good luck on your future cruise plans.

Actually lift and shift if you get cancelled is still allowed just not always feasible. My april 2021 rcl cruise got cancelled. I could have lifted and shifted it but I already had booked the b2b in my signature. Reluctantly I took the refund. Just too close together. I could have taken a 125% but I'd rather have fewer fcc as I said. Too confusing. 

 

Since they announced pretesting, I stopped booking more cruises or wanting to book more.

Lift and shift lately have only been allowed one year after the cruise cancelled, plus a week or two either way, but not holiday if it wasnt originally a holiday. Used to allow one year plus or minus 4 weeks. Like my dec cruise dec 12 was the only date in dec I could move to. Was a jan 2021 cruise lifted plus or minus 4 weeks .. cant pick xmas or new years in dec, dec 12 was my only dec 2021 option. And now less wiggle room allowed.

Thank you for the info. Do they still allow lift and shift? I thought it was no longer offered. 

Just reread it, makes sense now, shift to 12 months later.

That is why we stopped booking with RCL. They keep inflating their prices to well above the 125%. When they canceled our March cruise, the 125% would only cover 50% of the cost of the cruise  for the times we could sail again. There is no way I was paying $6000 for a cruise I had initially paid $2,400 for.

I have been close to a b2b off by one day but that was canceled at the beginning of COVID. Sorry you had to cancel. I still hope to book a real b2b in the future. Happy Cruising
