Apex casino

So, in the Apex casino, do you put your seapass in the machine to get the credit for gambling?  I read that some Royal ships have something like you "wave" it.  I know lots of people accidentally leave the cards in the machines.  I do have one of the cords so I don't LOL.  Also, I would hope that the machines take cash?  Seems like I read something that the Celebrity ships were cashless, but I wouldn't think the casino could be.  Thanks, Kris

You hold the Seapass against the machine's reader until it turns green (which means it read your card) to track your gambling and yes they take cash in the machines. If you want to download money to the machine as a room charge you just have to input your PIN.

Just to prepare you.  We were disappointed in the the Apex casino.  They were very short staff on our sailing of Feb. 12-19.  Neither the Craps table or the Poker table were ever opened the entire week.  Usually the only Black Jack table that was open had a $25 minimum table limit at 6/5.  The Roulette table had a $10 minimum bet.  There was no video poker one line game with playable schedule, not even at the 6/5 jacks or better game usually found on X ships.  Yes I know that is a terrible game but when you have to play triple play to get the schedule it is even worse.  I know gambling is optional on cruise ships but we enjoy playing with our OBC and it is fun to use the Captains Club match plays.  It was not fun to play the match plays at $10 roulette.  I think if the casino is a money maker for ships they should have the staffing required to offer one Craps table at least.  I do usually enjoy the non-smoking craps games.

Wow, that is disappointing.  We love video poker, but not the multiple lines.  I like Wheel of Fortune, but only really want to play like quarter with 5 quarter spins (or 8 to get gold spin).  Hopefully we can find something we like because we do like to go to the casino some evenings.  Thanks for the response!  Kris

Now you have me worried. Gonna be on the Edge in April and the Apex in October and I look forward to craps and poker. Hopefully staffing issues will be fixed by then but I would be very disappointed with your scenario.

Just got off the Apex last week...everything was open...2 BJ tables...$10min and $300min (I know...huge difference). Roulette was also open. I don't play craps so not 100% sure if that was open.

A popular cruise blogger is on the Apex this week...he enjoys craps..I'm guessing he will say if they aren't open.  Pretty popular on U tube.  I too hope they get things as close to normal as they can soon enough in the Casino.

Rhymes with Livin La Vida Loca...

We were on Apex also 2-12 To 2-19 and played $10 min blackjack every night tho we were told by an employee that craps were not open due to too few people. The ship had about 1500 on board and we didn’t see a shortage of crew there for passengers there. We were told they had 60% crew staffed. I think as more board the ship each week they will open more tables/games.

I’m sure the reasons are varied. We were on the 1/29 Apex with about 1100 people and the craps table was open.

Celebrity doesn't run the casinos, it is outsourced.

He was last week...he boarded Apex this past weekend.  Ah I see the answered above..no word re the Craps tables that I can find.  I assume the off week was a staffing issue..hopefully one off.  He did comment that the ship/food is great.

On the Edge last summer all tables were open & we had a Hold EM game nightly. (sailed about 40% capacity). Video poker at the casino bar was tolerable.

We sail the Apex 3/12 & I'm not optimistic. No casino bar, so no bartop VP. If there's no Hold Em, we probably won't hit the casino. We like blackjack but not at $25/hand.

Same experience.  I’ll play craps and Blackjack.  But, prefer Hold’Em.

I need to win back the $700 I lost in July.  So, maybe shouldn’t drink, anyway. LOL!!!!!!

The ship was beautiful, the staff remarkable and the food wonderful. The only exception to us was that the food in the Cosmo dining room - it was not very good in our opinion. It may have just been an off night as Celebrity usually has great food.

We only caught the Caravan, Crystallized and the comedian (Ralph Harris) shows but all were fantastic!

We did really enjoy the casino every night and it was full of people but many did miss the craps table and let management know. Hopefully it was a one-off.

The casino was dead pretty much all the time on the Feb 5, 2022 sailing.  It's not a huge space to begin with and 90% of the machines were penny slots.  You wave your S&S card and you can access your account once connected.  To note, you should sign out when leaving, plenty of times other people's accounts were still active but without their passwords its moot.

Does the $25 Blackjack pay 3/2 or 6/5?  It's a pretty big difference in the long run.

Also on Craps, are they allowing 3/4/5 odds with a $25 pass line?  Equinox was allowing this last August.

If anyone knows, I appreciate the input.

So no casino bar, where is the nearest bar?  I have only sailed S Class to this point.  Will be on Apex this March.

The Casino Bar (Edge) was converted to Craft Social (Apex & Beyond). Same location as Casino Bar on Edge but Craft Social is a sports bar/pub. Lots of TV screens, no VP on the bartop, as far as I remember. Its located right next to the casino.

In the Craft Social sports bar do they serve food such as chicken wings and fries? Is it a separate bar or is open to the hallway? I know on the Edge it was open to main walkway and was quite loud with activities at martini bar

thank you

It’s open to the hallway. I did not see any food service.

...

I'm curious as well (Reflection this Saturday - but I'd assume it's the same). I don't think I've ever played a 6:5 game. Playing 6:5 seems about as fun as playing JOB w/out the potential for a royal flush payout.

Hand or machine shuffled... continuous shufflers?

If the 6:5 is at lower limits, do they have 3:2 at higher limit tables ($50... $100) ?
