Shareholders benefits—When to apply

Recommended Posts

For those that have taken advantage of this benefit when do you apply.  When you book or close to sail date.

Got 2 sails this year one in early September and the other in early December—is it too early to apply?

Not too early; I submit when I have the booking number.  I've submitted more than a year from sailing ... submitted 9/4/2022 sailing on 6/12/2021.

I usually send in our stock info about 2 months out - for example - I just applied for Aug and Sept with our June stockholder statement.

Wow applied Wednesday and got my 2 X $100 benefits for my September and December sails this morning.  That is what I call efficient.

Has anyone used this on Casino Royale comp cruises as well?

I believe that comped cruises are exempt from the offer.  I know our Casino cruise was and I assume other comped cruises would also not be eligible.

You are right... Benefit is non-transferable and not available to employees, agents of Royal Caribbean Group or its subsidiaries and affiliates, travel agents and tour operators. Benefit is not combinable with interline rates, travel agent rates, and employee friends and family rates. Benefit cannot be redeemed for chartered sailings, any Galapagos sailings or complimentary sailings.

The website given says 3 weeks out.  Do they remember to give you the OBC for cruises a year later?  And how do you know they have credited your cruises with the OBC?

I received an email for all of my upcoming cruises showing the OBC had been added. Plus if you go look at your individual sailing online you will see the OBC listed prominently in bold at the top of the page.

You get a separate email for every sail thst you apply. Attached to the mail is a document thst resembles an invoice and shows the OBC.

I always add the stock OBC as soon as I book.  And have cruises out to 2024.   They always send me an updated email confirmation with OBC listed on each one.

Typically I apply after final payment, Royal says 3 weeks. 48 hours before the end of our last cruise we decided to stay on for the next. Applied for the Shareholders benefit the next morning (24 hours before sailing) and the credit was on our new sailing that night. How's that for service.

I got the benefits within a couple days also.  Does not take long for sure

I could do that also, but with 19 cruises booked through April 2024, I just do them a couple at a time.

After restart...and rescheduling a bunch of formerly cancelled cruises....I had a list of 8 of them I did all at once.  Was simply a matter of sending the list with ships, dates, and reservation numbers all on one page.  No big deal.  It helps me not to forget, if I apply as soon as I book.  I just consider it a part of the booking procedure.

I have "just a few" booked for the future as well.  Some cruises a bit longer than others.  😉

We also submit right after we book.  Here is the link if you do not have it:

We have a cruise in October and one next year in June.  Sent in my info about 2 weeks ago and was confirmed for both sailings within 24 hours.  I too use the portal. Many still use the e-mail and even snail-mail.  The portal was quick and easy and let me do both cruises at the same time.
