Funday Cay - Coming Soon??

I saw yesterday at Carnival has registered the trademark “Funday Cay.”  I’m wondering if there is an upcoming revamp of either Half Moon Cay or Princess Cay?

I’ve wondered when/if Carnival would finally have its own branded island (since HMC was acquired by HAL and Princess Cays by Princess).

Or - could this be the new port on Grand Bahama??

Ugh.😠  Yet another cruise line encouraging people to mispronounce the word cay.  Like RCI with their "Perfect Day at Cocoa Cay".  Irritates the crap out of me.😖

I blame Arkansas for getting all this going.

What's the proper way?

Key.

ETA: phonetic spelling: kē.

It's a homonym of key, which, not coincidentally, is how it's spelled when referring to the same types of islands in Florida.

But this is the Bahamas, and it should be pronounced the Bahamian way.

Florida native and resident snob, this is correct.

It is NOT "Kay" it is "Key"

The port in Belize being built which is called Port Coral as I understand it is not Carnival specific. I believe it will be available for any cruise line to use.

Guides on a couple of excursions indicated that Carnival was building it, but now that I think about it, they were Carnival excursions. I wouldn't be surprised if Carnival was paying for some of it.

It's not a secret that Carnival is building a new port in the Bahamas.  Two more years of construction.

Correct. The question is if this is a name for the area on Grand Bahama Island, or a rebrand of either HMC or Princess Cays.

Urban dictionary tells me that a cay is: the remainder of the green and smokable bud in a piece/joint.

Perhaps, "Funday Cay" is named after that rather than a "key."  (I kid. I kid.)
