Stuck between two itineraries

I have to move a cruise next year and here are the two itineraries that fit into the week we can go:

Adventure of the Seas (6 day) - Coco Cay, Puerto Plata,  and Labadee

Or

Mariner of the Seas (5 day) - Coco Cay, and Cozumel

Thanks for your help.

I can see where beach lovers would be enticed by a cruise that only hits private islands, but to me that may be the worst itinerary ever.

Puerto Plata is a lovely little town on the Atlantic coast of the Dominican Republic - and if the whales are still in the area it is sight you don't want to miss.

Random thoughts:

- The two ships are equal, so no help.

- Obviously 6 days are better than 5 days.  Even 6 is kinda short.

- Can you get the cabin you find most desirable on each ship?

- Is one of the departure ports easier for you to reach?  Or better in some way?

- What's the price difference?

- I love a beach day, but I don't 'specially want two in one cruise.

Can I assume you have been there before ? If so, what did you do?

Yes we have

Didn’t even leave the port area. There is a beach, a large resort pool with day beds and 2 bars at the pool.

Plenty of shops and restaurants

There are videos out there of the port area on you tube

Search Taino Bay

Identical ships.

6 vs 5 days

3 vs 2 ports

No-brainer

Same class but not identical. For instance Mariner has a Players pub and Adventure does not. There are other differences as well but not major. We've been on both multiple times and love them both. My advice is to go on both itineraries!!

One other point: The Voyager, Adventure and Explorer are "First Generation" Voyager class ships whereas the Mariner and Navigator are "2nd Generation". One of the major differences is the improvement in design of the balconies. The older ones were inset whereas the 2nd generation were built "external" to the ship's hull giving more space. Look closely at the following picture and you can see the difference: image.thumb.png.e630a7a15ec14619a8d3f0b546507345.png

Adventure 👍🏻

Taino Bay Puerto Plata would be the winner on this

all included resort at port with day beds and pool

You can eat at a really cool restaurant

with excellent local delicacies (Sanmangu)

Just a really nice different port from the normal RC stops.

We visited whilst on MSC and would go again regardless of Cruise line

Happy Days!
