I finally finished reading all pages of this awesome thread. We're now in a comfy suite in the Hilton Garden Inn in Hattiesburg, Mississippi.

When I drove to port Canaveral condo shopping I too stayed in some big star hotel name, nice. I looked for another city to stop but there really isnt a good place to stay from dallas other than hattiesburg that I could see. Stayed there both directions and I'm sure I will again when i move. At least you will be home tonight.

I enjoyed the garlic shrimp but had had it in Giovanni and shrimp cocktail and in WJ. I got shrimped out lol. And i love shrimp and lobster usually but had enough. But it was the best of the new menu imo.

So I met my goal of gaining no more than 10 pounds on this cruise. I think a lot of it is liquid weight because I have already lost 1.5 pounds in a day.

I still have huge cankles. I’ve been sleeping at night with my feet elevated and it has helped. I figure a few more days and I should be ok. Going to need to figure out on future cruises what do to prevent this. Either by taking water pills or sitting in a sauna because I’m not willing to give up the good food and drinks. Any ideas on what you guys do or other tips out there?

They have those copper infused sock and other endema socks that fit tight and take down swelling. Maybe wear at night. I bought endema gloves and they do help though cut into my incision. Marty as in marty and helen the doctor also said they are good.

They say walk more or do calf exercises. I dont get them in my ankles so far but can say the glove works.

I've heard epson salts but you would need a bath tub.

These gloves say arthritis but are also to relieve swelling and pain. Check out socks.

Greg, try a foot soak in epsom salt, magnesium spray oil or lotion, epsom salt gel (available at cvs or walmart etc). Hope it helps.

Thanks JC. Yes being healthy now will help. I think my body is not used to eating and drinking that much in one week since I don’t do that at home.

Diuretics are the answer beginning BEFORE the problem sets in.

Cranberry juice is a diuretic. Sort of. Of course what we drink isn't really cranberry juice, but that's my story and I'm sticking to it.

I do love my Cape Codders

Should I check with my doctor about the amount to take since my blood pressure medicine has a diuretic in it? Thanks for your valuable advice.

Not sure it will survive Part Deux 🤔🤣🤣

Maybe an excuse to “upgrade”? You know part trois is probably already in the minds of some 😎

Yes, you should always check with your physician. However, you obviously need an increase in diuretic when you are eating cruise ship food. Your ankles tell the story. l had to deal with this all the time when my mother would cruise as her opinion was why should I call my doctor when you are right here.😑

For those that asked about our day in Cozumel, here’s what we did.  (Long post)

We rented a Jeep and Driver from https://cozumelcruiseexcursions.net/index.html. We did the private Jeep Tour.  The pick up point was right across from the pier and easy to get to.

Our drivers name was Yared.  He was very personable and knowledgeable. We already had a few places in mind where we wanted to stop.  He added some places as well.  We basically toured around the whole island.

We wanted to go back to an area we’d been last year.  “El Cedral” although I’m not really sure how to describe it.  There is an old church and a Tequila Factory/Museum.  It was nice having the driver after some tequila tasting.  (Yes, we bought some and will use our cute Bella shot glasses for sipping).

We then headed to Punta Sur (Southern Point) for some beach time.  We stopped at a swamp lookout point to look for the resident crocodiles, Julio and Camilla.  Only Camilla paid us a visit.
There was no charge to use the beach and chairs, but they expected you to purchase something.  I had a strawberry daiquiri and Doug had a beer.

Next was our favorite stop of the day.  “The World’s Best Mojito Factory”. Not sure how we missed this place on previous cruises, but it is now a must stop for us.  The Mojitos were made with fresh fruit and ingredients.  Hand made right in front of you.  I had the coconut and Doug had the Pineapple.

For our last stop we went to a place called San Martin where they provided us with a delicious fajita lunch.

All in all it was probably one of our best days in Cozumel (we’ve been several times).

After that, Yared returned us right to the ship.  We felt this excursion was truly a bargain and lots of fun.  The tour lasted about 6 1/2 hours, included beer, water, soda in the Jeep and the Fajita lunch.

Hopefully, you can make sense of my review.  Feel free to ask any questions.

This cruise was not just about Cruise Critic friends getting together. But moreover the sharing of our lives, stories, hardships, injuries but moreover perseverance. I have never met so many new friends, that I will always consider my family.

The one person who I will always remember is Phoebe.  Her smile. Her love of life, was shared in her own special way. You left a mark on my heart. I wish you continued happiness as you share your joy of life.

”. . . In life there is always something olde to be sought and enjoyed, always something new to be found and shared. . . Thank you Bella Cruisers for sharing your life with me . . . “

I made it through all of the posts with maybe a moist eye here and there. And then this... full out tears, Miss Sue! You touched our hearts as well. Let's keep in touch.

                                Burial at Sea

Many of the Bella cruisers would meet at the Schooner Bar. One of our gang is Marty @nasa1974.

IMG_0705.thumb.jpeg.200931bf1898f26d36c63272baa548d4.jpeg

(Marty is on the left)

One night I noticed Marty was at the bar drinking a bottle of Heineken beer. Standing next to his bottle was a Manhattan cocktail. I asked Marty if he drinks Manhattans and he said no. He told me he got the cocktail in memory of his late wife.  Marty shared that Sue would have a Manhattan at least once a cruise to honor Marty’s grandfather who she would share the drink with when they visited. Some nights he would have a glass of wine sitting next to his beer to honor his wife.  Marty did this every night.

IMG_2287.thumb.jpg.c17dac7a4fdfccccaac00c3afbf1cb39.jpg

I asked Marty to tell me about his wife. He went on to tell me that his wife had died of cancer in November of 2021 after a long battle.  I asked Marty about meeting her. He told me that they had met on a ski trip and fell instantly in love. They started cruising and they met Cruise Critic friends and fellow Bella Cruisers Joe and Amelia @Cruisingpeople.  The couples met on a cruise of the Panama Canal and became close friends.  They ended up going on 4 cruises together.

IMG_2279.thumb.jpg.a85116d3e31860c6bdf12917b3dede65.jpg

Marty told me he was going to bury Suzanne’s ashes at sea. He went through all the protocols with Royal and got a biodegradable urn for Sue’s ashes. We had set up a time to meet with the officers and do a ceremony on our last sea day.

IMG_1176.thumb.jpg.64a2d4c69d0916f99d07c02847a6e9cb.jpg

I asked who was going to attend. He said Joe and Amelia of course since they were good friends. I asked if Linda and I could be there for him and he said yes.

On Day 7 at sea we met the Royal officers who took us to a special spot on ship away from people so Marty could have his personal moment. What happened next was a joyful, emotional moment.

I asked him if it was alright to document the burial at sea for him and his family to have for a memory. Marty also gave his blessing to have this video published so people can see what a burial at sea is like to honor their loved ones. The staff of Royal was so caring and nice. In the end we all cried and embraced. We then went to the schooner bar for a toast to Sue and to order another glass of wine for her. I think Marty will always cherish this moment. I know I did.

Cheers to you Suzanne may you rest in peace.

Tearfully beautiful.

I almost stopped reading this thread since the cruise is over. So glad I continued to follow the along for the final thoughts and wrap-ups stories.
