I am not aware of anyone who requires anyone to remove any religious headwear.

Well, I recall a story about Vlad the Impaler, but I don't think he's making Celebrity's policy (although the revolutionized furniture may be evidence to the contrary).

I was responding to the poster who felt there should be the same code for men and women when discussing whether hats can be worn indoors. I certainly hope that no woman has been asked to remove their veil on a ship although sadly it has happened in too many other places.

Somebody please call Uncle Roger! Hai-Yaa!

Personally I am not offended by hats. What I dislike is seeing bare scalps after surgery with scabs and bandages as we eat (I have seen several ). I would be happy for them to put on a hat. My husband had an accident at work where he had a scalp injury and needed plastic surgery right before a cruise.  No one wanted to look at that including me. He wore a close fitting cap with a brim. He showed the maître d’ the first day and no problem wearing it. No one gave us stares or cared that we noticed and they had no idea why he was wearing it. Unless that hat is blocking my view it will not spoil my dinner.

I’m sorry about your husband.  A rule can have exceptions.  But I’d still prefer to let the cruise line decide the rules.  Unless you’d like to see an old, fat guy wearing tights at dinner.

In just a few very short weeks, I'll be on the Equinox.  I am an elderly female going through chemo and as a result, have NO hair.  I wear chemo caps and baseball caps so no one has to stare at my bald head.  Without a hat, I'm damn scary looking, plus I freeze to death without something on my bald head.  Would I be asked to remove my chemo cap??

You could simply explain your situation to the Maitre d'. You might also like to splash out on some of the very stylish and elegant looking head wraps that are available from many sources. No one would confuse those with a baseball cap or sports visor.

i agree ...rules apply to all..

glad they plan to enforce them

no hat wearing  at  the table

I worked hard to enforce etiquette on my 3 young children. They are now adults and can appear in any social situation. Those rules or lack of them define you. Social media has created a generation of people who lack basic respect and promote destructive behavior wherever they are. Luckily for the world, there are still people who take parenting seriously!  Those youth will rise to the top some day! I have been cruising Celebrity since the 90's and have seen very few wayward young people on this cruise line......no matter the ship!

Or pay for an extra luggage. My name is El Cheapo.

Husband and I did something naughty one time. We worn pajamas to Luminae for breakfast and no one said anything. To be fair, it was disembarkation day, the morning of Christmas Eve, and our matching holiday pajamas were pretty cute and festive. We did wear (matching) closed toe shoes though. Would have worn slippers if they fit my husband's giant size 15 feet.

What a rebel.  I bet you cut in the front of the disembarkation line too.  In your pajamas.

Daughter had major surgery which necessitated 1/2 her head being shaved and many staples.  There are some very pretty scarves that can create a nice head cover by wrapping and rolling the edge .  you  aren’t stuck with baseball caps.

SeaSharp best of wishes with your chemo.  Enjoy your cruise

If Carnival employed fashion police on the Caribbean cruise we did last month, they would have had to double their staff to keep up. At the buffet, which is just off the main pool area, I saw more cheeks, side boob and hairy backs (sometimes all on the same person!) than I would typically see on a day at the beach. The neat trick of "covering up" with a spider web cover with holes that the Hulk could fit his fist through apparently kept the "fashion police" at bay on a technicality, I guess. It was disgusting. The MDR was better, but definitely saw tank tops, flip flops, etc., and don't recall anyone being asked to change.

I'm expecting Celebrity to be a lot better (although it's a September Alaska cruise, so I doubt there will be that much skin showing anyway).

Yes!  Our experience on our last Carnival Cruise as well.  Looking forward to a nice change on Celebrity 🙂

You may want to go the the maitre de during the afternoon to discuss any anxiety you have without being put in the position of having to publicly show a clueless DR host why you need the cap. They should accommodate you. I applaud you taking an adventure in the midst of your battle! Good luck and havr fun!!!

Sorry to hear scabs and bandages are so offensive.  I’ve had to have Mohs surgery and had a huge bandage on my face…and subsequently a healing scab/scar.  I was self conscious enough as it was without even thinking I was offending anyone.

Although we have come a ways away from the offending visor!!

The different medical procedures I can understand.  I don’t get ball caps as fashion.  It feels too much like workout clothes.

Why should ladies have different rules?

Funny and timely. I have been catching up on Downton Abbey on Prime Video and last night there was a funeral. I mental noted that all of the women were wearing hats in the church, but no men. I wondered why women had different rules.

I consider myself rather fashion-conscious.  I always try to dress appropriately and wouldn't be caught dead wearing inappropriate clothing in the MDR.  Something that happened to me on a recent Edge cruise still bothers me.  We typically had breakfast in the MDR.  This morning, we were leaving for an excursion right after breakfast.  We were being escorted to our table when the waiter stopped and asked me to remove my hat.  My hat was a tennis visor.  When I expressed surprise, he said, "hats are not allowed in the dining room.  You need to remove it."  Of course, I complied, but I had never seen the "no hats" rule applied to ladies.  Is this a new trend?

It's obvious the waiter had no idea the "no hats" rule🤩 only applies to male passengers.

Ladies have had a much more relaxed dress code.  We can wear pretty much whatever we wish.  We don't have the closed-toe sandal, tank top, or long pants rule.

Not all us ladies have a "relaxed dress code" so we don't run in to these type of problems.  For example, my lady friends and I would not think of wearing visors at a restaurant.)

He had a 4 inch gash with sutures and gauze sticking out of it. I doubt others in the dining room would have enjoyed eating with that. Some people have queasy stomachs. He too had Mohs surgery  and when it was the worst we tended not to eat out while things were pretty gross. People  had to put up with the scar and that’s ok.
