I believe so, PE carges about same rate, but only actual days

Had a late departure in Miami in March and got charged an extra day because we were 5 minutes past our entry time. Nice lady working the gate fixed it

FLL Port Everglades parking

Cost Jan 2023

$75 for 5 days

Pay when you leave

$15 per day as published for 5 days

not 6 days

Going in we knew it was $15 per day

not like it had been for 10 years apparently at all the cruise ports 🤪

I know your question has already been answered, but to reinforce what others have stated…I live in Florida and always drive to ports in Florida when cruising (12-15 per year). As far back as I can remember every port in Florida charges you for both embarkation day and debarkation day.

I live in Florida also

and have sailed out of the following in past 4 months

PC May 2023 ONLY port charged extra day at $18.19

FLL January 2023 $75 for 5 days ($15)

MIA  March 2023 $175 for 7 days ($25)

and we cruise every month too, seeing as you mentioned how much you cruise too

And we always self park at port

That’s interesting. Maybe I need to pay more attention in the parking garages. I know terminal A at Port Miami charges you different rates depending on the length of cruise, so that always messes me up. I have 3 cruises in the next 4 weeks (2 PC and 1 PM). I will pay more attention to the parking prices for these cruises.

The question's already been answered, but I'll just say this:  I absolutely despise paying to park, especially when I'm giving my business to the people who are collecting the parking fee.  Disney is the worst about this (now that they charge people to park at their hotels).

I’ll be in PC next Monday as well and to reinforce I know I will pay $90.95 for a 4 night cruise and pay $18.19 per day

Im 😎 with that

I posed the question not to argue with anyone, it was just that fact TODAY at the port in PC the price just did not initially add up

I got the explanation and now it all makes sense 👍🏻

however not every port is doing this like PC

as some people seem to think they do and have been doing for 10 years

$75 for 5 day cruise at Port Everglades $15 x 5 = $75

no 6 day charge

42074B33-6508-4886-9E93-224766F69046.jpeg

$25 for 7 days at Port Miami

7 x $25 = $175.00

not 8 days either

Let’s summarize

ONLY Port Canaveral rip you off, by charging an extra day rate at $18.19 per day

If they have been doing this for 10 years, then they have been getting away with daylight robbery 🤣🤣

Luckily this business model seems to be a PC thing not all ports

MIAMI $25 per day and you pay exactly for amount of days of your cruise 👍🏻

FLL Port Everglades $15 per day and you pay exactly for amount of days of your cruise 👍🏻

I think each port authority can make its own rules and design their own systems.  The parking ramps at PC are generally very convenient to the terminals.  While we do not enjoy paying for both arrival and departure days, we do it as we like the convenience at PC.  As many of the ramps seem to fill (sometimes fairly early), others also find the price to park at the port reasonable compared to the other options; thus I’m not sure I’d call it a rip-off.  We joke about Royal math.  Perhaps this is Port Canaveral Math.

We don’t have any problems with paying for the parking either, for us it works and the convenience is worth the price for us

We consider ourselves lucky to be able to drive to all the ports and less stress on embark and disembark day is worth $15, $18 or $25 a day to us 😎

Paying the extra day actually if you compare that to other things in life Is a scam

If you bought a 3 day pass to Disney for

$149 per day, and they charged you for a 4th day, you would be good with that

and not consider that a rip off 😉

Port of Tampa is $15 per day.  Like Miami and PE, they don't charge an extra day.

How's the parking there?

I only sail from PC because it's so close and I don't really care for ships below Voyager class but we were considering some cruises out of Tampa b/c of price (and it's only slightly farther away).

Again, it is not how I would design the parking payment system; I have seen worse rip-offs by port authorities.

I don’t go to Disney, so they will never rip me off😀. But let’s assume you go.  I believe your 3 day pass would cover, for example, a Friday, Saturday and Sunday. If you wanted a couple more hours on Monday morning I suspect you would have to pay for that 4th day.    You probably don’t want to compare the garage to Disney.

We use valet parking at the Port of Tampa, which tacks on just $20 to the total parking charge, regardless of cruise length.  That has been a great option for us.

Because of that, it's been a while since we self-parked there.

I’m a math and logical person and what we have here are two people that are not wrong, and the math can be supported both ways 😎

I park at 11am on Friday

I leave at 8am on Monday

11:00 am Fri - 11:00 am Sat  1 day

11:00am Sat - 11:00 am Sun 1 day

11:00am Sun - 8am Mon less than 1 day

3 days = 72hrs Actual

My parking = 69hrs Less

PC Charge = 96hrs More

Technically thats less than 3 days, so a 4th day does not enter the equation

So we are not adding a couple of hours, we are actually reducing by 3hrs

And they PC add another day

I see your point’ I get your point and I do not disagree with your logic 👍🏻

But however it is sugar coated , it is a ripoff

Im just glad I now know that a business model used by all ports is not true

Its only PC

We are happy with paying $18.19 a day at PC as I now understand how they make their money.

Parking at port is for us regardless of cost, I must reinforce this 😎

Happy Days!

This reminds me of the gold and blue dress scenario, where it is both colors and many see it as either color but not both

Might try this next time in Tampa

Last time I remember a short walk around the roundabout and within a couple f hundred yards at the port entrance

One of the easier places to park

Yes, indeed.  Let's summarize.

PC:   7 days, but charging 8 days at 18.19 a day = 145.52

Miami:  7 days "only" charging for 7 days....at 25.00 a day = 175.00.

Oh yeah, I can really see the savings at Miami.  😄

This isn’t about savings

its about PC charging an extra day

so Yes indeed

At least Miami charge day by day and don’t tag on an extra day

At least Port Everglades charge day by day and don’t tag on an extra day

Tampa charge day by day and don’t tag on an extra day

Not all ports copy the PC business model that apparently a few believe is the normal for all ports which  have done so for 10 years 😉

Im happy loading $25 a day when I know it’s $25 a day

And no hidden tax either

summary complete 🤪

Happy Days!

Plus, the off-site lots at PC are generally considered safe, so one has those options.  Not so in Miami.

If you stop to think about it, parking is taxable in Florida. So charging tax is a normal event.  The tax is being “hidden” when the tax is buried in the price and you are not told about it, lol.  Not that I mind.

We sail out of Canaveral a lot!!  For several years our 7 day cruise parking at Terminal 1 was always a flat $136 which was $17 x 8 days.

The last two cruises I guess they have started adding taxes so now it is about $145.

LOL...don't get me wrong, I detest the scam of the extra day (see my post detailing it on this thread #22).

When the Port Authority started charging that bogus extra day, I boycotted and started using the off site parking lots, though I had to deal with the shuttles.   Then...later on even the off site parking started charging that extra day.  So I am back to the port terminal again for the convenience.  But it  does not make me like what they are doing.

Miami is of course more expensive in so many ways.  Happy I only live 25 minutes from PC and don't have to pay for flight or hotel when I cruise out of there.  🙂
