Sorry to read this and hope he has a speedy and eventful recovery.  I thoroughly enjoy my virtual travels through you both over the years.

Am I correct to assume you are still n Amsterdam and in a hospital there?

I hope you’re well enough to go home soon, Norris. Though they mean well, hospitals are no place for a gentleman seafarer. By the way, Mimi and Rodolfo would like a word. They want both their humans at home to adore them. Rumps are turned. Tails are being lashed.

I am not Carol, and I hope she corrects me if I'm wrong. But Norris doesn't usually do a traditional "Live from..." type thread. He starts it once they get home, so he can leisurely tell the story at a nice pace. Most of his Gentleman's Seafarers Journals take upwards to 2 months to complete.

I hope you’re feeling better soon! I was diagnosed yesterday with pneumonia, first time for me, after a very ill weekend. Never realized how exhausting it’d make me feel. Anyway, Carol, thanks for updating us and please wish Norris a timely recovery ….don’t think anyone recovers quickly from pneumonia. I’m grateful I was able to come home to recover…different healthcare system here $$🙄

Thanks to all of you for kind good wishes. Norris’s message to you is that he is not out of the woods but he’s on the path. Fingers crossed he can come home in a few days. Carol

Thank you very much for the update, Carol. I’m glad to hear that Norris is on the path out of the woods and to recovery. Now I’m hoping his doctors can just keep him moving along that path in the right direction. I’ll keep checking back to see how it’s going.

Just came on now to check in today. Wrote the post last night but apparently didn’t hit send! Still, I’ve been thinking of both of you and hoping that Norris is continuing to recover.

Thank you Carol for the updates, with hugs to you especially because I know it can be so hard on the other person when their partner is ill.

Please tell Norris we are all concerned about him, and when opening CC I know I can't be the only one who runs to this thread first for any Norris news (while praying it's good)!

Very sweet of you! It’s emotionally tough but nothing like what he is going through. Of course he never stops joking and making all the medical people laugh and giggle. He might be coming home tomorrow! No more Ted Lasso’s for me!  Carol

Thanks for the update Carol.  Hopefully you can start to breathe again.

I think we have all been hanging out for some good news on Norris.

Hang in there Norris mate and keep the jokes a'comin.  Those angels who work in hospitals need lots of cheering up IMO.  They have so much to cope with.  Good to hear you can still laugh at what life throws at you!

Today's "excursion" would be my idea. We are meeting friends and family here and will visit places meaningful to me and known to those we are meeting.

We have a personal driver for the day-someone I have known and stayed in touch with since we met in 1957.

This sounds like the best type of port day excursion!!!

I hope you had a great time seeing all the places you remember from your past.

And I hope, you and your long time bud had a great time catching up.

This is Carol. Norris’s cold became worse and his doctor sent him to the ER today. He has pneumonia and will be in the hospital for a couple of days for treatment. He wanted me to explain to you all why there is a hiatus in the GSJ. All will be well.

Sorry to hear that Norris was sent to the hospital.  But glad he is getting taken care of.

Thank you, Carol for sharing the information with us.

       THANK YOU EVERYONE!

I have just come home after 5 days in the hospital and am feeling much better. My thanks to everyone who sent good wishes. Too many to reply to individually, alas.

I had asked Carol to let you know why I wasn't writing- I was tied up in wires and bristling like a porcupine with tubes. Home now with a list of drugs and future specialist appointments.

I will finish up the GSJ tomorrow and summarize and give an update on our next cruise.

Hope to see you tomorrow!

Norris, with thanks.

So very pleased to hear that you are home and on the mend. I was very concerned when I heard that you weren't well and thank you to Carol for keeping us up to date. Take care of yourself as your health and wellbeing is of the utmost importance.

By the way I have been thoroughly enjoying your review and beautiful photos and hope to get to Iceland one day.

I’m so thankful you’re home, Norris. I hope you enjoy a restful night’s sleep in the comfort of your own bed. Please don’t overdo tomorrow. We can wait a bit longer for the rest of your GSJ.

Sending another big thanks to Carol for keeping us updated on your unplanned medical adventure🌻

Glad to hear you're home again!

I've only just discovered your travelogues and have been bingeing your past ones while you've been away. So much information and such engaging writing! Thank you so much for taking the time to write them all.

Hope your recovery goes swimmingly!
