We just got “the” email and they totally changed the itinerary for the worse, which we will be cancelling.

I especially love the line, "...we constantly seek opportunities to elevate our already incredible offerings."  And then to offer you that itinerary as your "opportunity."  Takes a lot of brass.

Yup. But that’s OK. It gives us a chance to have more fun finding a cool cruise to go on. Afterall, part of the fun of cruising is the “hunt”! 😁

For us the hunt will include cruises in the March/April 2025 timeframe across 3 lines, Celebrity, Princess and NCL. We also have a B2B “place holder” Caribbean cruise booked on the Beyond in April 2025 if we can’t find anything better.

The NCL Africa B2B on the Jade was awesome, with each leg taking us to places we’ve never been before and probably will never go again! It was only our second time cruising with NCL. But once we stopped comparing our initial cruise experiences, before and after boarding the ship, with previous X and PCL cruises and put our minds in NCL mode, it really helped as NCL definitely has a different way of doing business. 😁

There you go.  Family travelers.  Waterslides and water parks coming next...  They are trying hard to get the 20 something crowd.

Closest alternatives for 14 night South America sailings would be HAL, Princess, and NCL.

For Antarctic itineraries only NCL offers 14 nights, Princess are 16 nights, and Holland America stretches it to 22.

I’m not sure if I would count out Celebrity substituting Infinity back to the SA routes, winter demand in the Med can’t be that strong and Israel has risk of unrest.

First time cancellation for us so could someone please explain the $200 OBC.
Is this on top of the OBC we  had for our Antarctic cruise? Or do we lose the OBC associated with the cancelled cruise?

You lose any OBC you had on the cruise ,

we had about $1000 OBC on the Lisbon TA to Argentina, that is gone to the wind

It is surprising that Royal Caribbean doesn't do South America either.  They have so many ships, I figure they had to put one ship over there. If Celebrity ends up abandoning South America, perhaps it is not a coincidence.

Received official cancellation of the TA from Lisbon to Buenos Aires.   Now I'm stuck with the first 1/2 of a B2B the week before the Cancelled November 21 cruise.    Will be working to see what we can do with the reservation to minimize the cancellation fees.    Needless to say we are very disappointed.

Dear Guest,

At Celebrity Cruises, we are passionate about providing award-winning vacation experiences.  As we position our brand for continued success, we constantly seek opportunities to elevate our already incredible offerings.  With this goal in mind, Celebrity Cruises is pleased to announce we will be relocating Celebrity Equinox in November 2024, from South America to the Caribbean, to begin conducting new 7-Night itineraries as the first-ever Celebrity ship sailing out of Port Canaveral, Florida.  As a result, all current Celebrity Equinox sailings scheduled to depart November 21, 2024 through March 1, 2025 will be cancelled.

For any payments made toward your sailing, you will automatically receive a 100% refund to your original method of payment. No action is required on your part to receive this refund, which you should see reflected within 30 days after cancellation (cruise taxes and fees will be refunded separately). Please note, any reservation paid with Future Cruise Credit will not be eligible for a cash refund; however, your Future Cruise Credit will be reinstated.

If you have pre-booked any shore excursions, beverage, internet, specialty dining or other onboard packages through Celebrity Cruise Planner, you will be refunded in full to your original method of payment.  Guests with hotel reservations booked through Flights by Celebrity will be refunded automatically (you will not need to call in to initiate the process).  Guests with independent excursions should contact their tour operators directly to make all required modifications.

As we never wish to complicate your vacation planning, we sincerely appreciate your understanding. In the hopes that you’ll find another bucket-list vacation with Celebrity Cruises, we are happy to offer you $200 onboard credit per stateroom, $400 onboard credit for Retreat accommodations, toward a future booking.

If you have any questions, please feel free to contact Celebrity Cruises at 1-844-418-6824 in North America or (316) 554-5961 worldwide. We look forward to welcoming you aboard soon for an amazing Celebrity Cruises vacation.

And that Equinox TA to PC is pretty boring , maybe they should let us lift and shift the TA 1/3 of the rate of the one they canceled ,and keeping our OBC 🤣

We almost booked on the Equinox in February 2025, fortunately we got a fantastic deal for 18 nights on the Oceania Marina at less cost than the 14-night Equinox cruise. The cruising gods were watching out for us. Check out Oceania for your 2024-25 South America cruise replacement.

It is fine Celebrity is cancelling the cruise, it their ships and can do what they want

No airfare was book no money was lost

Just disappointment , there was some nice people on our roll call that I want to meet

The money that is lost is now having to find a replacement, if you choose to. Time is the enemy and prices are higher, especially if you booked several months ago.

This cruise should get an award for the single most mentioned cruise in all of Cruise Critic history.

We did a fabulous 15 day Antarctica cruise with Princess in January. We had four days in Antarctica too versus two that Celebrity was doing.

I hope you have a great time on your first O cruise. We sure did on our first. However, the next 9 not so much, especially when we it came to issues involving O HQ back in FL. We also got tired of the “relaxed” atmosphere with not a lot of variety when it came to finding fun things to do on sea days.

I am sorry to hear about Celebrity’s cavalier attitude

to various TA and South America bookings. We are

Elite Plus on X but have jumped ship for various

reasons. For those with SA cancellations you might

want to look at Holland America’s offerings. We were

on Oosterdam last winter (without the Antarctic) and

had a wonderful time. Valparaiso (Santiago) to

Buenos Aires is a wonderful itinerary.
