Avoid Venezia at all costs.

The worst cruise out of 23 cruise ships. I do not know what is up with this ship, rude staff, rude passengers. Ship is dirty throughout. The main dinning area is like a old, outdated convention center. There are stains on the fabic of the chairs in dinning area.. was afraid to sit on some. There are so many soiled rugs. The casino area to walk through -I felt sick, smoke, stale smoke, and what smelled like urine. Avoid this ship!!

This website is so weird. On the same front page of this same forum is a 15 page live trip report where the folks appear to be having a great time on the same ship you mention.

Sorry you had a bad experience 😔

Sounds like the live trip report people are very discerning. I know I enjoyed my 2 weeks+ on Venezia and didn't experience anything like the OP did.

I'm very much looking forward to our cruise on her in March.

i did two cruises on the venezia and i have 2 more booked. the only thing i hate about the venezia is there is no easy way to get from the pool deck area to  outside area above the pool deck due to the retractable roof. like going from deck 10 to deck 12.

it can be annoying trying to get to deck 12 due to only one set of elevators that is the forward elevators. there no mid or aft elevators on deck 12 and no mid ship stairs either. Deck 12 only has stairs at the forward elevator bank and at the aft

Some people, particularly people who have a lot of history on Carnival, perhaps have a lot of their money tied up in $CCL, and get good Casino offers, are willing to look past the ever degrading level of quality on Carnival. After all, it is said that it is possible to boil a frog alive if you slowly increase the temperature.

Or maybe it's that people define "quality" differently than you do. For us they still give us a great value for our vacation dollar and until that changes we'll stick with them.

If I got free suites I'd stick with them too to be honest.

I couldn't fathom paying for a suite on Carnival personally. I just assumed that on all your trip reports in suites you were getting them free. I suppose we truly do have different definitions of value.

We've been in a suite twice. The first time was because the upsell fairy called and since the net cost to us was $50 more than what we had originally booked the cruise for it was a no brainer to accept it. The second time was because we were celebrating a milestone anniversary and we were treating ourselves. Our next two bookings are in regular balcony cabins. You know what they say about "assume" 😉

This was my only "complaint" as well, but didn't have the kids with me so it wasn't a big deal. If they were with me, it could have been rough trying to go from the Lido pool to the water slides all day.

My experience was fantastic! Great staff and great people. I didn't see a stain anywhere but I am sure there are plenty for those who are looking for them, but who cares.

Pictures or it didn't happen, right? lol

Everyone has different experiences and anyone can write anything on the internet.

I look at the overall composition of a review to judge how big of a grain of salt to take with a review.

One review is 15 pages and going. One is one run on paragraph.

For my money, I know who is likely relating an experience that would most likely mirror my own and it has nothing to do with brand loyalty or casino rates.

We are on the Venezia right now on our way to St Thomas.

We fully agree with the casino comment. Heavy smoke with not much ventilation.

We have had 1 breakfast, 1 brunch, 1 Diamond lunch, and 3 dining room dinners so far. The dining room service is hit and miss. Some teams are super slow and unorganized while others are highly attentive and efficient. Around 50/50 so far.

We have found staff to be friendly all the time. Enjoying the shows. Food quality is good.

Overall a great cruise so far.

If the casino allows smoking, why even bother complaining about it??  Every casino that allows smoking reeks.

to the original poster - How about providing details?  Where were the rude staff?  Dining room, bar servers, stateroom attendant, guest services, where?

To Duck down thanks for some useful details.

True. The next time I get a free or almost free cabin on Carnival will be the first time.

Im on the ship now.

Only like experience ive had is casino is certainly smokey.  Literally every seat at every machine is occupied most of the times ive been in there, smoning and non.  A full house of smokers is gonna be smokey.

There is a non-smoking annex, albeit small, and some smoke might creep in.

Agreed with your comment. The only thing I can think of, is that the OP was intending to speak about the ships layout in the casino area. In order to go from the front to the back of the ship you would have to walk through the smoking casino if you do not choose to go up or down a floor. So you have small kids walking through the smoke. But again, there is a solution to it!

There is a big difference in ventilation even in smoking areas. Some ships do a much better job at ventilation than others.

I must have missed the well ventilated ships.  Every single one of the casinos that has allowed smoking reeked even before opening for business.  And the smoke escaped to surrounding areas.

On one smaller ship with a small casino (i.e. about 3 people inside smoking) it was tolerable.

And then there is Celebrity :).

We do know the policies going in - just saying....
