Happens frequently every year.  Perhaps you should tell this on the Maleth link.

Hope you continue to have a great time. Look forward to more reviews and if you have time about the islands.

How are the swimming pools and swim up bar ? Assume not a lot of kids so all okay?

Always going to get compensation seekers. Not down to P&O because of no IFE. Doubt they would get anything from TUI either. Some people..

Well there's an irony.  I've just had an email on drinks package discount!  Is this the standard offering or a Black Friday Deal - I've had one for that already telling me I'll get a fabulous offer tomorrow!!

Book your drinks package

Limited availability per cruise

Dear Mrs X, did you know, you can add more reasons to say ‘cheers’ to your holiday with one of our drinks packages? And if you book now, you’ll get even better value than you do when booking on board.

For a fixed price per person, per day, our packages offer you a range of drinks to suit your taste. From Pepsi to refresh you by the pool and Costa Coffee to perk up your afternoons, to luscious wines that complement each meal and sundowners to toast the end of another amazing day, there’s a thirst quencher for every occasion.

BOOK NOW »

I’ve had the email too. I clicked on the ‘book now’ button to see what the price would be for our 65 nighter. It didn’t appear to deduct the 10% (maybe that only happens at checkout?) and, of course, I’d get loyalty discount as well. Clearly with those discounts it will be an absolute steal, but for some reason I was a bit nervous about clicking any more buttons……….😱🤪

I’m confused about this 10% offer. Didn’t get the email so not sure how this works. Don’t you always get 10% off when you book and pay online? Then the loyalty discount. So why the marketing email if it’s just the same discount?

Why indeed?  A somewhat dubious marketing ploy from P&O.

After they return they may go to their locals rags, if they are interested.  You can imagine them practising their sad compo faces from now until then.🙄

Not been able to get into the 710 club at all for any of the slots. Have tried again today. Showing as all booked out for this evenings shows. I suppose we could do a walk up and check if any availability. But we are not fussed at all.

The P&O my cruise app is working like a dream for us. We have had no issues with it at all in any shape or form and this is the first cruise since 2019. I have the internet package on my phone and changing to the app is easy. Only gripe I have is the cruise cards. I’m now onto the 3rd card and it’s only day 6. The ink just keeps rubbing off doing my best to pinch the sides when I need it.

Just remember you need to change your last digit on the my holiday login page app for the booking reference if you get a new card as well as the last digit will change.

We flew from Manchester on the 11th November with tui and had no entertainment on the outbound. Did this cause an issue for us. Absolutely No. The flight flew in. A few gripes from passengers wanted compensation, that is their prerogative. No complaint from

me, couldn’t have cared less to be honest.

All in all we are all having a great time. 6 of us in total. One couple on deck 5 mid ship on starboard side loves their cabin but would love to have got deck 8 the promanade deck as well as they are total people watchers lol. which we are on. We have no issue what so ever with this deck and I think it’s great as you are so near to everything as well. No issue with people walking past balcony at all. As they can’t see in unless well over 6 foot 5 inches I would say. Other couple the jury is still out for them as they are forward on port side.

The ship is massive and i’m still getting lost. But always get there in the end.

I would try that walk in for 710 club one night if I were you. It's a unique venue and worth a visit

Hence  why it's hard to book

That’s an eye watering amount for drinks, think we would be checking in to a clinic on return to sort liver out. 😂

I’m not sure that I’d even make it until the end of the cruise if I drank only a fraction of that 😂

Over £8,000 for the classic package on our world cruise in January, with the early booking 10% it takes £700 off so I assume with another 10%loyalty off it would bring it down to £6,400. If we ever get anywhere near that amount over 99 nights even allowing for soft drinks and coffees we would need medical assistance🤢

To benefit from the drinks package you have to be pretty relentless every single day drinking to high level!

And can't afford a rest day from drink!

Imagine the drink calories on top of the food calories?

And then when the  doctor asks how many units of alcohol do you drink each week?

Well doctor.............

The break even point on most drink packages is about 6 wines/cocktails a day which is about what we have plus specialist coffees and bottles of water on top. So for shorter cruises we tend to go for the package but can’t stomach the outlay for long cruises where we rein in a bit, we have a 26 and 30 day cruise next year!! One of which is on Cunard where they add on 15% service charge.

What is a drink rest day on a cruise! We’re on uz holiday.

Like I say for me it's the calories on top of the food calories that scares me

We have  orange juice and hot drinks with breakfast then just water and 2 or 3 cocktails a day max

We couldn't make it pay

Just for you. I remember how shocked I was when I saw this and drank regularly. I believe it was based on Carnival ships menus so obviously different lines, different calories.  I recall the bartender on Allure of the Seas telling me had s drink with over 1,100 calories once.

Here is the list of the calorific content of those delicious drinks…

Mai Tai – a typical one can ‘cost’ as much as 620 calories as it is made from white rum, dark rum, orange curacao, lime juice and orange syrup!

Frozen Margarita – anything from 500-700 calories!

Piña colada – that evocative drink reminiscent of balmy nights is surely delicious. Its calorie count depends on size but could get close to 600 calories!

Mud Slide – a slippery 556 calories!

Long Island Iced Tea – (the classic demonstration of how multiple spirits adds up to a calorie-rich drink) 430 calories at least!

Bahama Mama – tastes like it sounds but you’ll drink 350 calories!

Sex on the Beach – (go on, you’ve always wanted to try it but never dared to ask) … will tot up to 330 calories!

All of which make the more typical Vodka & Tonic or Gin & Tonic quite ‘cheap’ at about 150 calories a time!  Oh, and remember a rule of thumb calculation would tell you that men should consume no more than around 2,500 calories and women 2000 calories a day…depending on how active you are, of course!

Yep scary stuff MB!!

I might move on to more gin and tonics in the bars

Can't resist a frozen cocktail in the swim up bar though

It scares me the amount of sugar that is contained in these cocktails. A dinner companion was a diabetic and was very careful about what she ate at dinner, not eating potatoes, rice or pasta, (carbohydrates are converted to sugar in the body) no desserts etc. But would then drink fresh orange juice at breakfast (fructose is still sugar), have special coffee with flavoured syrups, and have at least one cocktail during the evening, and then moaning about her sugar levels. I don't envy being her diabetic nurse trying to explain it to her.

My plan is to have gin and slimline tonic but somehow I regularly find a mudslide or pina colada in my hand. On Princess I used to drink a cocktail called Dirty Banana, sounds revolting but was delicious. Dread to think of the calories.

I love the negronis they make in 710 club

Think they are dark cherry flavour (or something like that)

Can't not have one of them when I'm in there.

It's my tradition now. I can make it last for the whole show though so that's one good thing!

Then head off to the theatre or for a late meal if we've not already eaten

The lack of things to do on seadays  other than sit in the sun or eat and drink is appearing with regularity in comments and reviews.  Selbourne has offered excellent blogs from three different vessels in recent months and he has commented on the lack of seaday offerings every time.

I would guess anyone undertaking their first P&O cruise for some time would indeed find this daytime  removal of options disconcerting.

We gave Princess a go earlier this year and whilst the programme looked good in fact most activities were unhosted. We certainly found P&O better for organised activities but perhaps things are changing on P&O too.
