COMPLAINERS UNITE! What Can Royal Do Better?

Recommended Posts

This has probably been said but I'll say it again.

Suite perks!

Compared to the likes of NCL Haven and MSC Yacht Club, the suite perks on Royal are relatively lacklustre.

NCL suites have an in-room coffee machine, which I enjoyed.

Also speciality restaurant for breakfast and lunch. I think Royal is starting that for her newer ships, but what about the older ones?

One NCL Jade, I really enjoyed breakfast and lunch at Cagney's. This was lunch at Cagney's.

Awesome some of their ships have real Broadway shows but Chicago on a family friendly ship? And Cats is a bit boring (personal opinion). Otherwise cruise ships look awesome. Can't wait! I don't even care where we go . It's about the ship.

Coffee cards and laundry facilities las Princess has.

I am not sure how they could possibly make these ships any more "family friendly". Bumper cars, water parks, flow rider, etc. What else would you want?

As Pinkrosesdeb says -- besides those items listed what would make it more family friendly. I surely don't know how a coffee card or laundry facilities does.....there is a laundry service on board that can be used if necessary, now.

Not much to complain about but agreed that johnny rockets should be free. We loved guys on carnival ...great burger and fries and it's free. Also their desserts on royal are lacking. I wish they would do a stir fry wok station everyday. I love the service we get on royal.

NCL has coffee makers in the balcony rooms as well as the suites. Really enjoyed our coffee on the balcony in the morning. I don't understand why you can't bring your own and why they would be a fire hazard in a balcony cabin but not in a suite and not on cruise out of the UK. Also would like better pizza.

I would have to agree that it would be really nice if RCI would include a launderette on each passenger deck. Yes there is laundry service on board but sometimes all you need is to do a quick touch-up with an iron on a shirt, pants, blouse, etc. and 10 minutes in a launderette is preferable to waiting on pressing service. We have never used the washing machines or dryers on any of our prior non-RCI cruises (though many do) but that iron and ironing board on those other lines has come in very handy on several occasions. Oh and yes, we took Downy Wrinkle Release on our last RCI cruise and will do so again.

The real problem showed on Cruise Critic and many of the public at-large, is that they will accept ANY level of service/non-service and will be happy with it, by default. This attitude is hurting us all and leading to declining standards!

Bring back the little inexpensive things that make a big impact. Pens and stationary, two ply bathroom tissue, larger bars of soap, mint on my pillow. Nice ways to differentiate yourself from your competitors without adding more than $2 to a cruise fare.

Television - I cruse very often. But when the same television programs are running for multiple years, it gets really old. (Lettermen, Seinfeld same for 2 years) With today's technology, there is no excuse not to have fresh programming for every cruise. Oh sure I bring my own programs on my computer but then it takes an miracle from God to get it hooked to the television.

Before someone says that I should be out and about rather than watching television, I will first say that it has nothing to do with the problem that I am reporting. Second, I sometimes like to relax and watch a little TV before getting dressed for dinner. Anyway, their TV programming sucks.

We would be very happy if the level of service in the MDR would return to what it used to be. We've only been cruising since 2006, and have seen a decline. You shouldn't have to dine in a specialty restaurant for good service. (Which by the way, was also mediocre on our last two cruises; Chops on Freedom and Brilliance.)

I want to be able to bring my travel iron with auto shut off.

My styling hair iron with auto shut off. Charge me if I burn a counter.

At least buy a bottle on the ship liquor store and take back to my cabin.

Windjammer open from 5:00am to 2:00am.

A ship going out of Los Angeles to Mexico again. Miss that so much.

Make the ports so we don't have to tender.

More elevators, I cant do stairs, bad knees. waiting waiting waiting

That's like saying bring back good music. It's just not happening. Royal has their target audience and they will continue to please that majority.

Yes, it can happen, if we demand it: we are what built Royal Caribbean and without us, the company would go under. New cruisers are not going to save this company, only our loyalty will. I really believe that this company is in crisis, which is a crisis from within.

just as with Caesar's Entertainment & MGMMirage. Lessening quality (along with massive debts), directly equals lessoning price, which leads to commodity pricing (like the airlines). This will (as it has with ALL the US Legacy Carriers, Caesar's, many Trump Atlantic City Casinos & soon MGMMirage) a bankruptcy filing.

They continue to have full ships sailing out so they must be doing something right. Can't please everyone but I assume they are pleasing the majority

I love Royal but no cruise line is perfect. There's always room for improvement. What would you like to see Royal do or change to make your cruise experience more enjoyable.

We loved this cruise. The ship is beautiful and easy to navigate. The captain gave everyone free wi-fi for the entire cruise. The staff were very helpful with any questions we had. We were not happy with dynamic dining. We missed having the same waiter every night. Some of the restaurants were good, and some just fair. We enjoyed the Japanese restaurant. There was a charge, but after tasting the sushi, the charge was worth it. We liked American Icon and the Grand, and Two70 was great for breakfast and lunch. Getting onto the ship was 100% better than the old port in Bayonne. We did not have to take a bus to the ship. We just walked on from the waiting area at the port. We were on the ship in a few minutes. Getting off the ship was awful. We felt like cattle on our way to getting our luggage. Everyone was crushed together on a long line to get to the luggage area. When we got to the luggage, we were not able to get anyone with a cart to help us. Once we got outside, we had to stand where there was no covered area. In the past, we were able to stay in a big tent area and out of the bad weather. We enjoyed our cruise so much that we will be on the May 2nd cruise to Barcelona.

This is a good point, bring back the extras of the recent past, as well as the quality food/meals served 10 years ago.

While I think you overrate the meals of ten years ago, are you willing to pay the premium for all those extras because many here are not.

What does Royal pay on average per guest per day to feed them? $13? $15? $18? Would I pay 20% more on the cost of food for noticeably better food? Yes. That would be about $20 pp/per week for improved quality added to the cruise fare.

Royal can keep up with the rest of the industry in posting itineraries much more in advance. They only have Europe through April 2016. Alaska through 2015. Other lines have Europe out through November 2016 and Alaska through September 2016.

Sure makes it difficult to plan and budget.

I have wondered this myself: what is royals food budget per passenger, per day? As a public company, I wonder how to find out this information?

I know you would LMaxwell because you've said it before and I would too but the person that I quoted wasn't talking about just meals and didn't answer the question.

I know I am going to get blasted for this but it is just my opinion. I want to help make all of you happy. Try a cruise on Carnival and trust me, you will love Royal. You will see that maybe Royal is not perfect but it blows Carnival away. :)

Just trying to be positive.
