  1. Happy Tuesday!  The sun is out today, Yay!  I have a button basket that was my grandmothers.  It's a treasured memory.  @JazzyVI hope your legs feel better soon, not fun while you're traveling.  @luvteachingHappy birthday to your DH, and congrats on the new baby!  @kazuIvan looks wonderful after his spa day.  Hoping his lumps and bumps aren't a problem.  Hoping your elbow gets better soon.  I'm having lunch with some co-workers from the "olden" days today.  Have a great day!  Karen

  2. Happy Monday!  It was a quiet day here, yesterday was 80 and sunny, today 50's and rain.  I did more sorting and strip cutting today with my fabric piles.  I think I'm almost done!  Our school principal asked for some covers for the PreK kid nap mats.  My quilting group and I have around 25 made so far.  Our irises are up, but not blooming yet.  We have a park with beautiful gardens close by...might have to go there soon to check out what's blooming.  The flowering crabs have been popping the last few days.  The white chicken chili sounds good!  @Cruzin Terrihoping your estate issues can get settled soon.  @dobiemomgreat news that your eye pressures are good!  @GeorgeCharlieGreat picture.  Many years ago, our hospital made this week "caregivers" week...everyone was acknowledged.  We usually got a small token during the week.  During that week, they had a party for the people celebrating 5, 10, etc. anniversaries.  Those were always fun to go to.  They started doing it at Am Fam Field, the Brewers Baseball stadium.  That was a fun event with tours and lots of fun food!

    We put out grape jelly for the orioles yesterday, and did see 3 today!

    Have a good rest of your day!  Karen

  3. Happy Sunday!  I've had home brewed beer, it was good.  Tourism is a good thing, and we all enjoy some good humor, lots of funny jokes here.  We're taking the grands to a local, small theater this afternoon to see Descendants.  Should be good, we had to read up again on the story line 😉 They

     were dressed as the characters for Halloween a few years ago.  It's around 80F here today, but the forecast is for 50's tomorrow.  Prayers for those that need them, and cheers to the rest.  Enjoy your day, Karen

  4. Happy Saturday!  I also saw some of the coronation this morning.  Lots of pomp and circumstance!  The children were darling!  And now the Kentucky Derby is on.  I've been in the basement cutting up scraps of my quilting fabric...making strips for scrap quilts.  As soon as I think I''m close to done, I find another pile!  It's never ending....

    I've done scrapbooks, but now it's photo books from Shutterfly.  That's also a job that never seems to be done.  @Vict0riannGood to hear that DH's surgery well, but wow, that's a lot of time to wait for news.  @grapau27Your table setting looks delightful!  @ger_77sorry you started your drive on the wrong day...sounds like something I might do!  I'm trying to put everything on the calendar on my phone now, that seems to help me some!

    It's about time for me to have an "adult beverage!"  Karen

  5. Happy Friday and Cinco de Mayo!  A Mexican food truck stops in our community on Thursday afternoons.  We got food yesterday, and will have the leftovers tonight.

     It's been a pleasant day here, maybe spring has really arrived...still haven't washed my winter jacket though.

    Thanks for all that contribute here, prayers for all who need them, and cheers to the rest!  Have a great weekend!  K

  6. Happy Wednesday!  We finally have sunshine today, and it's around 60F!  The warmest it's been in a while.  This morning was my "reading buddies" day, the little ones are so much fun!  I learn from their books, and I also learn from them.  Read a Magic School Bus book this am, I may have to get it from the library to hear the end of the story!  We were reading about Louis Pasteur and rabies treatment!  Haven't been to todays port, and I don't think I would like the meal, no chickpeas for me!  I did have some black beans in my salad, though!

    @RMLincolnHoping the dr. apt for your DH goes well today.

    I'm celebrating teachers, and everyone who works in a school building this week...they have a very important, but difficult job to do every day!

    Have a great rest of your day, cheers to all celebrating and prayers for all who need them.  K

  7. Happy Tuesday.  Another chilly, dreary day here.  Better weather is on the way, soon I hope!  No babies here, the youngest grands are 7 and 9.  The 9 year old is learning to bake.  Her chocolate chip cookies are great!  @kazuIvan looks like he's settling in nicely.  @marshhawkhave a wonderful trip!  @smitty34877prayers that things are a little better at your house with Tana and your teenager.  Prayers for all who need them, and cheers for the rest.  Thanks for sharing, Karen

  8. Happy May Day!  My sister lives near an elementary school that delivers May Baskets to the neighborhood!  Each year they get a cute little gift from the kiddos.  @kazuthinking of you today.  @smitty34877sorry to hear that Tana is having more problems again.  @marshhawkwe've used What's App to communicate when we're on a cruise.

    Had a "fun" morning at the dentist this morning, not my favorite place to go!  Prayers for all that need them, and cheers for the rest!  I enjoy all of the pictures and jokes here!  Thanks for making my day!  Karen

  9. Happy Friday!

    @bennybearGood to hear you're feeling stronger.  @marshhawkthinking about you today as Irving goes to the rainbow bridge, hugs to you.  @St Pete CruiserSorry to hear you're in the hospital, hoping you're feeling better soon.

    Not sure about the curry meal, a friend shared a curry chicken salad recipe, but I've never bought or made anything with curry.  Speaking of clean humor, the Carol Burnett birthday party the other night was great!  There's nobody like her around anymore!  (I guess some of her humor might be a bit "off-color" though!)

    Thanks to all for the pictures, recipes, sharing and jokes!  Have a good weekend!  K

  10. Happy Tuesday!  We have some sun here today.  The temp is still a bit chilly, but the sun feels great!  Our Zoo had a baby Gentoo penguin December of last year.  We haven't seen her yet, but she is starting to be out and about with the adults.  Her name is Pepper.   We also had a baby Red Panda.  We did see her, and she is a cutie.  I'm not sure about the meal or the drink of the day, and prefer beers over wine.

    @kazuhoping your surgery and recovery goes well.  The dog toys are great!

    @marshhawkThinking about you and Irving....hugs to all of you.  Enjoy your last days with him.

    Pepper the penguin!

  11. Good Morning, and happy Monday!  The sun was out briefly this morning, but it's cloudy again.  The Northern Lights were visible here last night, but I was already asleep when that happened!  The "weather guy" wasn't sure if the clouds would clear in time, but they did.  @StLouisCruisersThe tree your daughter decorates is great!  My mom used to have at least 10 trees, but she didn't leave any up.  I did do a Valentine's Day tree once, but we don't have a good place to leave a tree up!  Maybe I should decorate a bush outside.  @Seasick SailorI hope your bird does well.  We've had a robin make a nest in the bush near our front door, but a roaming cat usually gets the babies.  I wish that cat stayed inside!  @marshhawkthinking of you as you visit the vet...

    Have a great day.  I'm joining our weaving group today to continue making our Christmas baskets.  Last year we started late, and almost didn't finish.  We make little baskets and fill them with trinkets for local nursing home/assisted living residents.     Karen

  12. I just read this whole thread, you're making me want to go to Alaska again!  Our first cruise was Alaska in 2019.  We went early June, and the weather was great!  The flowers in Anchorage were beautiful, they said because of all the daylight hours.  We saw bears on top of Mt. Roberts, the scenery was beautiful.  Glacier Bay was awesome!  We did the train in Skagway,  then did a walking tour with Park rangers in the town, not sure if they are still doing that.  We had a wonderful time!  Can't wait to follow you as you begin your travels!  Karen

  13. Happy Sunday!  Happy Birthday to @cunnorl and @marshhawk

    No picnics here today!  @StLouisCruisersIt's cold, we're about an hour east of Madison, and yes, there have been snow flakes on and off all day today...we had 80's 2 weeks ago, and then winter returned!  Supposed to be cold all week!

    @grapau27Wow, wishing Fr. David well on his pilgrimage!

    @luvteachinggood to hear that there is progress with DH...hoping he can be closer to you soon.

    Have a great week, Karen

  14. Happy Saturday from another dreary day here.  No sun, and intermittent giant snow flakes.  I'll take jelly beans any day.  There used to be a Jelly Belly factory outlet store about 45" away, I always got their Jelly Flops!  The meal looks good, I'm not a wine drinker.  Maybe someday we'll get to England.

    @smitty34877 Sorry to hear about the Tana and the oxygen problems, hoping it can be resolved.

    @RowsbyHappy Birthday!

    @mamaofamiSorry to hear about your DH.  Hoping the antibiotics help him quickly.

    Have a good rest of the weekend, safe travels for everyone on cruises.  The Panama Canal pictures brought back memories, we were there in February.  Karen

  15. Good afternoon, another dreary day here.  We've had rain and hail storms, and not much sun.  I'm looking forward to spring and sunshine!

    I went to Kindergarten.  I volunteer at our school, reading with the "littles."  The "kinders" are lots of fun, and it's great to see their progress over the months!  I've learned lots of fun facts as they read to me!

    @bennybearHappy Anniversary!

    @JazzyVHave a wonderful trip!

    @dobiemomGood luck with your sleeping...

    @aliaschiefCovid is still out there...we were on the Eurodam in February.  We never heard anything about covid, but there sure were a lot of coughing people out and about.  We wore our masks in the world theater, and when in crowded areas.  The 1st tour we took, we had a woman right behind us who was coughing the whole time, no mask in sight for her...we managed to stay healthy...but I was worried about whatever bug was going around.  Stay safe and healthy!

    Have a great weekend!
