Rare LMaxwell Posted September 23, 2018 #1 Share Posted September 23, 2018 I understand it is now one dinner at specialty per room, not per person, but what are the current restaurants and is it from set selections for black card ?
kimala Posted September 23, 2018 #2 Share Posted September 23, 2018 Im probably not the right person to be answering this because our first MSC on Seaside isnt till next month but.. I know it is correct that one only gets One (1) specialty comp dinner per couple. And from what Ive heard you can dine in any specialty except Teppanyakki..someone with more experience will need to verify that. I heard that yes on the comp dinner you get to choose from the set tasting menu but you can upgrade for 50% of the menu price.

frank808 Posted September 24, 2018 #6 Share Posted September 24, 2018 On seaside we got one black card meal each week for all three of us in the cabin. So I guess we each got a black card meal. It used to be one certificate for two per black card holder but no more. Sent from my SM-N950U using Tapatalk
Rare Beamafar Posted September 24, 2018 #7 Share Posted September 24, 2018 If both are Black status, a dinner each That perk was reduced to one complimentary meal for 2 per cabin last November, though this is not being observed by the Cruise Consultant on every ship - we received 2 vouchers for a meal for 2 on Poesia a couple of weeks ago. In December, soon after the change, the CC offered us a second voucher on Orchestra, when we discussed the change with him. On Splendida last April, we only received one voucher, despite it being a 4 week cruise.
dodger1964 Posted September 24, 2018 #8 Share Posted September 24, 2018 We were on Seaside last week...ONE per stateroom. We used ours for lunch at Butchers Cut...food was excellent...took longer than I thought it would...there were only 3 tables being used during our time. We did get 2 chocolate ships and 2 "gifts" (pen), but only 1 specialty invitation.
CelebrationFamily Posted September 24, 2018 #9 Share Posted September 24, 2018 Okay...sorry...trying to follow along. We status matched Black for all three of us...me, hubby and 16 year old son...sailing Meraviglia...will we get ONE complimentary specialty restaurant meal for our cabin during our week on board? I'm a planner and trying to decide whether to buy a specialty dining package before we sail. Thanks in advance for the help.
sidari Posted September 24, 2018 #10 Share Posted September 24, 2018 You will get one invite for two people, kids are not included. There does still seem to be a few anomalies as Bea has said.
Capitan Obvious Posted September 24, 2018 #11 Share Posted September 24, 2018 I don't understand the issue. Attached is a copy of the Voyager's Club terms and conditions from 2015. The black card dinner benefit is exactly the same as it is today. One dinner for two per stateroom. This does not appear to have changed. dodger1964 Posted September 24, 2018 #14 Share Posted September 24, 2018 we didn't get any type of bill at the end of our meal. They asked our room number when we sat down, and that was it.

Prinz Posted September 24, 2018 #16 Share Posted September 24, 2018 What about the Roy Yamaguchi place or the sushi bar?The Asian Market Kitchen is included. Which means a subset of sushi selection that you can get on that menu. Sent from my Pixel 2 XL using Forums mobile app
sidari Posted September 24, 2018 #17 Share Posted September 24, 2018 C.O ... It said one meal fod two per cabin, we received two on Seaside Xmas 2017 and one in April 2018 ! The onboard rep was the same person on both cruises. Going to be interesting to see what we get on Divina at Xmas.
Rare Beamafar Posted September 24, 2018 #18 Share Posted September 24, 2018 Pete (Skier52) is a great man for having documentation relating to these things, but, IINM, MSC had to change the policy of one complimentary meal per cabin when Black Card members objected to the perk not being allocated to EACH Black Card member. Since the successful (as far as MSC is concerned) status-match programme - especially since the launch of Seaside - MSC has revisited the policy and reduced it accordingly - hence it's being strictly adhered to on Seaside (whereas it isn't on some other ships, where the Speciality Restaurants aren't as popular). Going to be interesting to see what we get on Divina at Xmas. Hmmm. Sounds more like the onboard rep gave you the wrong thing instead of there actually being a change in the actual benefit/policy. From what I can see in 2015 it was one meal for 2 per cabin and in 2018 it is one meal for 2 per cabin. Exactly the same.
sidari Posted September 24, 2018 #22 Share Posted September 24, 2018 C.O ... Rare Beamafar Posted September 24, 2018 #23 Share Posted September 24, 2018 C.O ... The details in the benefits chart said one meal for 2 per black card holder, I will look for the benefits chart I have here from a year or so ago at some point tomorrow. The info was certainly posted on here before, as you know. We've had several discussions on the subject. I certainly don't intend searching back thru' the forum for them! The fact is that people WERE getting 2 vouchers for a complimentary meal for 2 when there were 2 Black Card members in the cabin. I made Black first and ever since DH did, we've had 2 complimentary meals for 2; and that changed with the implementation of the directive you were shown that was dated last November. However, as I've stated, out of our 3 cruises since then, we could still enjoy 2 evenings complimentary in a Specialist Restaurant; on Orchestra last Christmas and Poesia 2 weeks ago! WonderMan3 Posted September 25, 2018 #24 Share Posted September 25, 2018 When you use one of these free Black Card meals I know that you have to order from a special menu. The items on this menu overlap with items on the regular menu but are they the same portion size or are they smaller? Also, if you’d like to order more than the 3 items per person from the limited menu can you order an additional item from the main menu and just pay whatever the item price is? Also, I saw something that noted that when you use your Black Card meal that drinks are excluded. What if you have a drink package through the Yacht Club? Will your drinks be covered by that even with this Black Card meal? Sent from my iPhone using Forums

We did that in the Asian market kitchen when we wanted some extra sushi. Yes, your drinks are still included if you're YC. Drinks are included for YC anywhere you go on the ship since they made that change last year.
