I noticed from Day 1 there was no oone cleaning like they have on past ships I have been on and no hand sanitizer in dispensers. Well come Wed, me, my wife and son were all as sick as I have ever been. of course thats 150 dollars each to go to the medic to get seen people were throwing up all over the boat all week and it smelled like sewage on our floor (6th). On Grand Cayman day they told us as we were pulling in to get ready to do tenders that waves were tough we would go to other part of island and everyone would have to take taxis to get anywhere and we had to share them with the EPIC guests as well. than an hr later they said you would have to come down and get tender tickets and it was everyman for them selves and we got an early tender and stepped foor on the island at 12:38 and had to be back on boat at 3:15. I feel bad for the people that had tender tickets after us who knows when they got off. On last day I was finally healthy enough to cash out at the casino and had to wait in line an hr because their systems wouldn't work and they only had 1 person working. The line was wrapping through the casino. Finally I tried to use the app to buy pictures but that did not work so went to pixels and it took 2 hrs to order pictures because the digital kiosk would only work half the time.....overall huge disappointment

I was on this cruise too with 21 other people...none of us got sick at all and didn't hear of anything going around. Not to say it wasn't happening, just my experience. We all had a great time even with the Grand Cayman sh*t show. We had a planned excursion through a 3rd party which had to be cancelled but since they sent a bus anyway for us, he was kind enough to drop us off and pick us up at a cool bar on the beach, Royal Palms I think.

And yea, the last day their whole Sail & Sign system was jacked. We were in the steakhouse and waited about an hour for our checks which sucked because people in our group also had to cash out at casino. Could have been handled better, but, it happens.

In short, to offer a differing view on the same ship, we all had a great time and it flew by and can't wait to do out next one.

I am sorry to hear though that a lot of people were sick :( That can really damper anyone's mood.

Sorry you didn't have a good time. The CDC is showing several states have norovirus outbreaks so it's not surprising it is making it's way onto some ships. On my HAL cruise earlier this month, cruise staff served passengers at the buffet the entire cruise so no passengers would touch the serving utensils.

I just think having the hand sanitizer dispensers empty everytime I tried to use them and only cleaning after the fact instead of proactively was odd since every other cruise I have been on I see people cleaning all the time

Sorry to hear of your experience. But Grand Cayman was not Carnival's fault. Maybe they could/should have just skipped the port due to delays...but I am sure there would have been 10x more complaints if that happened!! Unfortunately the main dock area where you tender in is very open and high tides/waves during unsettled or windy weather make this area difficult to tender to. I've been to Grand Cayman several times which included anchoring to another area I believe north of the the down town area due to swells and high waves. But that decision was made earlier and we anchored pretty close to scheduled time.

That's a bummer you had a bad experience. Cant blame carnival all the way for the bad experience tendering. We have some personal responsibility to prepare ourselves as well. Bigger doesnt mean better especially when most ports still have the infrastructure to support the smaller ships not the increasingly amount of growing people ashore..We continually try to sail on Splendor size or less. I cant imagine what its like to tender off one of the ships bigger than 110l gross tons. Biggest shup we sailed on was the EPIC but we sailed to be on the ship not the stops.

Lots of sick people who refuse to wash there hands in the automatic hand washer in the buffet. Vista was out least favorite ship.

.....and here I thought it was every Carnival ship, go figure. I am confused, is it only non sick people who wash their hands there? Is that why it was the least favorite?

We were on the same cruise with a group of friends and family on decks 5 and 6 and none of us were sick. Not sure where you encountered the empty hand sanitizers because we used them daily the entire cruise and never found them empty. We were lucky in regards to Grand Cayman as we were able to get on the first tender and still do the private excursion we had booked, but it did have to be shortened by 1/2 hour and they picked us up at the new spot. This is not the first time we have had this problem there and on one cruise they cancelled the stop which is even worse in my opinion. Lines at the casino, pixels and guest services were the longest I have ever seen. One of the guys at Pixels said they were trying to fix it from Miami and were having no luck. We still had a good time, but I have to say I think I prefer the smaller ships.

Sorry your cruise did not go as planned, we have been in GC when their were 6 ships, so 2 is def well below what the port can handle. Been on the Vista twice, saw absolutely zero evidence of lack of cleaning. This is the time for Noro, and I think it can hit pretty much all cruise lines. Hope your future cruises go better.

I wonder if the crew was suffering from the crud too. As you said, on all of our cruises, the crew has always been out and about constantly cleaning and filling the hand sanitizers.

Yea when it came to grand cayman it wasnt the fact that we had to change that upset me....stuff like that happens on cruises, but the lack of organization and it was every person for themselves...I even talked to another passenger that said I hope nothing happens to the ship if this was this unorganized

What happened when you used the soap-and-water hand-wash stations located on Lido, and also outside on the Lanai? (The ones on Vista are really nifty.)

Not saying this is what happened but...

Last cruise the people we saw on our 2nd port excursion, were telling everyone that the husband was back in the cabin and had been sick for several days when he came on. Had taken some compazine prior and lied on the health form. We saw the son later on day 6 and both mom and dad were now sick in the cabin and he was staying in a cabin with his cousins.

People have to be honest. No one wants to barf all vacation long and no one else wants to have them share their germs.

I always bring my own small bottle of hand sanitizer and refill from a larger one back in the cabin. I learned from years at the hospital, don't depend on anyone but you to keep yourself healthy.

I'm sorry you were all so sick. I always bring sanitizing hand wipes and use them all the time throughout the cruise. It does help, especially when you're not near a sanitation station, I also bring Clorox wipes for the room and I wipe everything down the minute I get in there....light switches, remote, all handles, bathroom counter, doorknobs, etc.
