What was the Worst Royal Caribbean cruise?

Navigator of the Seas in the Med- because of the smoky atmosphere every where you went. They allowed smoking in 11 of the 13 bars so it was bad!

We went to a lounge to watch Karaoke and the right half of the lounge was smoking, the left side 'smoke free'....!

Even the Promenade smelled of smoke from the PUb...

Before I write what I am going to write, let me make it perfectly clear, I wish there was 'no smoking everywhere' in public places -- but that is me, and I know that isn't realistic.

I am wondering however, if the smoking situation you described was because it was a Med Cruise rather than one that embarked from a US port.

Personally, I would have hated that many smoking locations.

Never had a bad cruise to rate it as worst ever.

I am with you! :)

I have had issues/problems, but for most part cruise line has stepped up and responded in good faith. Did I get everything I felt I should... no, but then again, they did not ignore me.

I will say that my biggest disappointment was a Panama Canal cruise on Celebrity Infinity that 2 days out on a 15 day cruise we learn, in spring of 2009, that we will miss our 3 Mexican ports of call due to H1N1. They worked on changes and a couple days later, we added San Diego for 1/2 day, Catelena Island off Los Angeles and got to San Francisco a day early and actually spent the night on ship after a day of touring San Francisco.

So for us, missed a Mexican port I really wanted to go too, but had some nice surprises.

I can't say I had a "worst" cruise, but my most disappointing one was the last on 12-8-14 on the Majesty. It was cold and windy enough to where you couldn't really enjoy the pool areas, and the limitations of an older ship really showed up. Not as much to do inside as on the larger class ships, so it was least favorite of all.

I know very well, that Her Majesty (I have cruised on her - 11 times), does not have all the bells and whistles that her larger and new sister ships have....so I have to wonder if your disappointment was more due to 'unrealistic expectations'. The weather no one has control over and cruising in December it is unpredictable, even though 'hurricane season and the rainy season have passed'.

I have always said that you really have to work hard to have a bad time on a ship....however....the maiden of quantum came VERY close...

I definitely don't have to go into detail but most of the issues were based on disappointments. We all anticipated issues such as slower service etc but the problems seemed to be endless that have been over hashed out now. The ship WILL BE AMAZING when everything gets fixed but the ship had no business having passengers on board when it was handed over.

I still loved the IFly though!

My Nov 2nd Maiden Voyage on the Quantum, Crap from start to finish!!!!

It didn't get much better on the Nov 23 & Dec 1 cruises either. I agree that RCCL jumped the gun on sending her out, she was not ready AND still wasn't. We anticipated some hiccups, especially after reading what the transatlantic went through, but what I wasn't expecting was for so many things to be so different. In my very negative surveys (a first for me), I suggested that they should not call that ship an RCCL ship, they need a new brand. They admittedly said they are going after the younger folks and the non-cruisers. Dynamic Dining was a NIGHTMARE. I don't want to work that hard on a trip. And the crew is so frustrated and tired of having to apologize. It is a beautiful ship, if Celebrity Solstice class is to your liking, it's not to mine. It has some awesome things I FLY, bumper cars, RCCL CREW, BUT it should not have come out when it did. I won't even get into the ours was billed & CHARGED as the "Inaugural" cruise to the surprise of the Captain and other top crew members. We got aluminum water bottles, oh and a certificate that said we were on the Inaugural, signed by the Captain who I heard say, NO this is not the Inaugural. This very loyal to Royal cruiser is not very happy with what RCCL is doing to a number of things. (sorry to rant, here I thought I was over my disappointment, guess I'm not)

I've never been on a "bad" cruise but of all the ones we've been on, there's only one ship we'd never sail on again, and that was Majesty. I know...she has her die hard fans but for us it was just a so-so cruise.

As everyone knows Her Majesty will be retired from the fleet in April 2016 and sorry you had a 'so-so' cruise on her.

Worst cruise ever....2006 Radiance cruise. It had nothing to do with the ship or cruiseline. My 19 yr old son's 19 yr old friend who joined us on the cruise climbed onto the outside of the ship and tried to jump off . This took place on the 4th night of the cruise. After he had jump down several decks on the outside of the ship he finally ended up on Deck 2 or 3 going through the crew quarters and out on a "ledge" on the back of the ship. He was out there for several hours with crew trying to talk him into coming back in.

Finally after about 3 hours the Captain came down and threatened to throw him off the ship himself if he didn't come back in and sure enough he came back in.

We were escorted to our cabin and had security posted outside our door. The next morning we were politely asked to get off the ship and stay off in St Marrten. We were escorted down the pier with all of our luggage and were on our own.

I must say through all of this RCCL was wonderful to me! They helped me secure flights to get back home ( at a cost of over $5000) in no way did I blame them for putting us off the ship.....I didn't want to be there with this idiot either.

This friend of my son's we had known for 10 yrs and had no idea he was on medication for ADD and some psychological disorder.

This is why I always urge people to never take any of your kids friends on a cruise. If they are under 21 you are responsible for them and if they screw up you are screwed!!

The night this all happened the ship was put on lock down and they also put 2 life boats in the water in case he jumped. There was talk that I could have been held financially responsible for the fuel costs for that as well but thank goodness that didn't happen!!

Is this person in jail yet? Hope so

Wow! What did his parents have to say about that? Well, I guess since he's 19 and an adult it's not required to have the parents involved, but if this kid is in college and still being supported by his parents you'd think they tell you.

Most disappointing cruise for me wasn't the cruise line's fault. It was my first cruise as an adult and able to actually enter one of the lounges on my own. My mom and I got in a huge fight because I wanted to spend time alone and we were barely on speaking terms for the rest of the cruise.

So you got to go cruise, not get H1N1, and spend overnight in one of the greatest cities in the world.... Winner Winner:p

To OP Have never had a bad cruise just some situations that could have been better

Our worst cruise ever was about 15 years ago on the American Queen on the Mississippi out of New Orleans. We had gotten an AAA stateroom with a "balcony". Turned out that our stateroom was in the back and the balcony was the wrap-around deck. The paddle wheel constantly dumped water on our door so we got drenched every time we went in or out. The beds were twins that were so narrow that turning over in bed was an adventure. It was so boring that watching grass grow would have been like Times Square on New Year's Eve. If that had been our first cruise we wouldn't be coming up on number 24 next week.

Worst cruise ever of any cruise line was recent repositioning cruise on Voyager. We are a Diamond on RCCL but this will be our last.Reviews are on Cruise Critic and many obviously feel the same.

Sorry to hear that, we did the repositioning from Singapore last year and loved it. What happened this year? I will check out the reviews but also interested in your perspective

Worse cruise we the Dec 7, 2014 sailing of the Freedom. They had a propeller problem the week before which they neglected to mention. This means the ship could only go on 2 of 3 propellers which means times in port was cut in half. We rarely book excursions through the ship but we did this time. When we go to our cabin most of our excursions were cancelled with no explanation. When we tried to rebook, the excursion desk people were very rude and had no explanation as to why so many excursions were cancelled or unavailable. It was only then we learned from another passenger about the propeller problem. When we asked the desk about it and why they didn't tell us they were even more rude.

To add to that we did manage to book an excursion on Grand Cayman (stingray city/sail). They motored the sailboat out, did stingray city, put up the sail but motored back. We've been to stinray city a couple times, we only booked it for the sailing part, oops...they didn't actually sail. When we go back ashore there was no transportation for 2-3 hours. With the port time cut we were running out of time. We waited and waited. If we hadn't booked this through ship we would have missed the tender.

After leaving Grand Cayman, the ship had to turn around and go back due to a sick child. That meant, no going to Cozumel because of the propeller problem. I don't blame the sick child but the propeller problem that they didn't tell us about was an issue. It was the propeller, not the sick child that caused us to miss that port. Did we get reimbursed for port charges in Cozumel? No, we are still fighting for that. The cruise the week before and the week after got credit because of the propeller problem. We didn't because RCI blamed it on the sick child.

Not to mention the horrible smoking policy, all ships need to BAN SMOKING on board!!!!. But here is a solution, sell and encourage personal vaporizers i.e., electronic cigarettes. Not only are the a helluva lot healthier than cigarettes but there is no smoke. They are not offensive to those of us who don't smoke and satisfies the need for those who do.

Finally the crowds in the Windjammer was the worse I've ever seen. I now know why they call it the WindJAMMER, because they JAM everyone into it.

Been on a dozen cruises and always have a good time despite what happens but this was the worse cruise and raises doubts about ever sailing on RCI again.

My worst cruise was on the Freedom in 2007. Six of us were in the Royal Family Suite. This costs us $12,000. As a result my agent gave us several gifts. However, the ship had trouble getting us the gifts. The concierge was useless (I left him no tip) in helping for anything. As a result instead of spending the vacation with my family I ended up spending several hours trying to resolve problems on my own. Later I was in an ocean view cabin on a different ship and received much better service than I did in a full suite on the Freedom. Because of its failure to live up to the promise and cost, and because of the extremely poor customer service, when I read the title of the thread this was the first cruise that came to mind.

I have to ask you, since I truly don't understand how the pricing for these huge suites go.....is the $12,000 divided up by the 6 people in the suite -- therefore costing each $2, 000.

The pricing is just like any other cabin. The first two pay a lot and everyone else is discounted. In this case it was $4,000 each for the first two and $1,000 each for the other four.

I have always had a great time on all our cruises, but the one ship I would never sail again is the Jewel. Believe it or not, we could never find anything to eat! After about 11:00pm there was cheese pizza and that was it. We were always searching for something other then the buffet during the day and places were closed. I guess after sailing the Allure with like 25 places to eat, that's what we get. We did do Chops one night and it was not good on the Jewel, so generic, like they just put it in a room, no nice views, nothing special and not worth the extra money. That being said, if that is the worst, I'll take it, I don't need the extra calories anyway. ;)
