Carnival Triumph fails latest CDC sanitary inspection

I read the report. Some of the violations were extremely disgusting. They didnt just miss passing by a point or two, they failed miserably. Which is unheard of for a large ship. There is no excise for this. And this is not the first Carnival ship to fail. The environmental officer or whoever is in charge of this needs to be fired and the crew retrained. I wouldn't go to a restaurant with less than an A grade from the health department and I wouldn't sail on a ship that miserably failed a public health inspection, regardless of what a good value it is.

They did not fail miserably !! I also read the report and everything is a quick correction. This was in November and I’m sure it has been corrected by now

While most non-conformities ware repairable or correctable in a short period, what is disturbing is the lack of a mental state where the proper sanitation procedures are second nature, and a demonstrated lack of training by supervisory personnel who should know better. Many of these non-conformities would not have been granted as many deductions as they were, if not for the repeated nature of them (dirty dishwashers), and the lack of ability of the crew to demonstrate the proper knowledge of sanitation to the inspectors.

Seriously "unheard of for a large ship"? Have you heard of the Queen Mary 2? It failed(with an 84) on 6-11-2007 do a little research its not uncommon. Yes carnival has failed several times but so has other cruise lines some by far far worse. Here is a list of every failing score with a 79 or less going back to 1995 with the worst list first. Keep in mind 85 or less is fail, but listing all the fails would have made this post way to long.

I just read the report sent to me by a concerned family member that knows I am going on this cruise at the end of January. Apparently, the main news outlets ran the story. I was about to post when I saw this thread.

Can anyone comment that has recently been on the ship? Is there any particular food one should avoid (I read the cheese and milk were not at the right temp)? How seriously will Carnival take this? I am hoping for some very fast changes!

Hi Chief, so what are the implications for the ship and the crew and (just as important) passengers? It seems like some folks are concerned about their health safety on upcoming Triumph cruises.

Family is scheduled to cruise on the Triumph in July. Was wondering if anyone else out there had first had experience of the apparent "filth" of this ship? Should we stay booked or rebook to another ship or even cruise line?

I only see 4 Carnival fails out of the whole listing! More ships equals more chances to fail and they have NOT. Seems as though a previous poster is simply against Carnival!. Lets not forget that the last few ships to return due to people being sick etc have been RCI and Norwegian ships if memory serves!

Oh yeah, a moral victory. It could've been much worse. LOL. It's always inexcusable for a ship to fail these inspections. Heads should roll. Former crew should be on the first flight back to the rain forest.

Last I checked, Carnival owns Cunard, so......

I sailed Triumph in September. Ship itself was showing its age with wear and tear, but as far as cleanliness or food spoilage we had absolutely no problem, and in fact with the exception of the buffet we thought the food was pretty good. I was surprised to hear of this report. I would keep your plans intact unless the ship needing a major facelift is a dealbreaker for you.
