anchorsaway67 Posted January 5, 2018 #1 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Family is scheduled to cruise on the Triumph in July. Was wondering if anyone else out there had first had experience of the apparent "filth" of this ship? Should we stay booked or rebook to another ship or even cruise line? ProgRockCruiser Posted January 5, 2018 #2 Share Posted January 5, 2018 As has been mentioned in other similar threads, any cruise ship that fails an inspection is usually much cleaner than normal afterwards, as they want to erase that stigma immediately and make darn sure they pass re-inspection. I wouldn't worry. YMMV.
easyboy Posted January 5, 2018 #3 Share Posted January 5, 2018 Stay booked. They will be more cautious when you sail. Sent from my iPhone using Forums
JerrynClaire Posted January 5, 2018 #4 Share Posted January 5, 2018 I've sailed Triumph 3 times, the last time being in September 2017... The ship was spotless... Don't sweat this...
joeyancho Posted January 5, 2018 #5 Share Posted January 5, 2018 I read the report. Some of the violations were extremely disgusting. They didnt just miss passing by a point or two, they failed miserably. Which is unheard of for a large ship. There is no excise for this. And this is not the first Carnival ship to fail. The environmental officer or whoever is in charge of this needs to be fired and the crew retrained. I wouldn't go to a restaurant with less than an A grade from the health department and I wouldn't sail on a ship that miserably failed a public health inspection, regardless of what a good value it is. Many of these non-conformities would not have been granted as many deductions as they were, if not for the repeated nature of them (dirty dishwashers), and the lack of ability of the crew to demonstrate the proper knowledge of sanitation to the inspectors. Seriously "unheard of for a large ship"? Have you heard of the Queen Mary 2? It failed(with an 84) on 6-11-2007 do a little research its not uncommon. Yes carnival has failed several times but so has other cruise lines some by far far worse. Here is a list of every failing score with a 79 or less going back to 1995 with the worst list first. Keep in mind 85 or less is fail, but listing all the fails would have made this post way to long. World Gallery Posted January 6, 2018 #10 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I just read the report sent to me by a concerned family member that knows I am going on this cruise at the end of January. Apparently, the main news outlets ran the story. I was about to post when I saw this thread. Can anyone comment that has recently been on the ship? Is there any particular food one should avoid (I read the cheese and milk were not at the right temp)? How seriously will Carnival take this? I am hoping for some very fast changes! Hi Chief, so what are the implications for the ship and the crew and (just as important) passengers? It seems like some folks are concerned about their health safety on upcoming Triumph cruises. Thorncroft Posted January 6, 2018 #12 Share Posted January 6, 2018 This is Triumph we're talking about, right? Maybe the crew was busy rowing and their other duties went lacking a bit. Cleanliness is next to functioning propulsion.

Sarcastic Mama Posted January 6, 2018 #14 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I sail on Jan 29. Called Carnival to ask about this and was told all issues have been taken care of and they have requested a re-inspection of the ship. No info on re-inspection date. Rare BlerkOne Posted January 6, 2018 #16 Share Posted January 6, 2018 Probably still more sanitary than most peoples homes. Typically most deficiencies are taken care of on the spot. Don't think Carnival had any Noro worthy of being reported to the CDC last year. https://wwwn.cdc.gov/InspectionQueryTool/InspectionSearch.aspx

GlamorousGirl Posted January 6, 2018 #22 Share Posted January 6, 2018 I sailed Triumph in September. Ship itself was showing its age with wear and tear, but as far as cleanliness or food spoilage we had absolutely no problem, and in fact with the exception of the buffet we thought the food was pretty good. I was surprised to hear of this report. I would keep your plans intact unless the ship needing a major facelift is a dealbreaker for you.
