Back to back on Celebrity?

When back to back on RCI, that information is captured during on-line check-in. Nothing like that showed up when I checked in on Celebrity. How is the back to back handled on Celebrity? I always go to Guest Services about 4 days into the first week on RCI to make sure they are showing us as back to back cruisers. I assume I should do the same on X. Will there be a meeting or just a letter giving directions for turn around day? Are we allowed back in our cabin early as on RCI? BTW, this will be in POM.

A lot depends on where you are.

In the US you must get off the ship and go through immigration. This is not needed when sailing in Europe.

You will receive a disembarkation instruction form a few days before the end of the cruise and one option is “consecutive cruiser”

It never hurts to go to Guest Relations and remind them.

It's been a few years since my last B2B on Celebrity, but I recall that when doing online checkin for the first cruise, when it asks for your return transportation/flight, etc. one option was 'consecutive cruiser', as mentioned by an above poster. You will have to go through immigration in POM but if there is a large enough group, they may have the CBP people come onboard and take care of it in a lounge. But you do not have to wait for this, if you wish to go ashore. Just take your new card and leave with everyone else. when you return you will ahve to go through security, but can bypass the checkin area. Be sure to have your Transit pass. EM

So, if you have a transit pass sounds like you can go to your cabin early as on RCI. I saw nothing in my check-in docs that addressed departure. But I will check with GS. Also sounds like there is a form later in the cruise to address departure. Thanks for all the info.

Every cruise/ship/port is different. It's always wise to drop by guest services to make sure they know you are B2B...but you will get a letter informing you of how it will be handled...meeting, new card, must get off or not, etc. We've done it many times and it's painless....but we always book the same cabin for both cruises.

Just a reminder....did you get the back to back discount ($50/$100) on both cruises. Sometimes (actually, often) you have to request it of your TA or Celebrity rep.

Are you changing cabins, or will you be in the same cabin? The doors leading to the cabins will be closed while they are preparing the cabins; however, you can just open them and go to your cabin. If you are in the same cabin just inform your stateroom attendant of your plans so that they can prepare your cabin with minimal impact on your and their schedules.

You will receive complete instructions in a letter and your Transit pass in an envelope. Process is very easy.

We did a B2B Caribbean cruise on the Equinox out of POM March 2018. A day or two prior to the end of the first leg you will receive detailed instruction's on what to bring and where to meet for TAD. You will also be advised when and where to meet for a briefing (optional) on what to expect on TAD. It's open to Q&A also. For that meeting we assembled in the Celebrity Central (small theater) on deck 4. For the actual TAD meeting place we all assembled in the Ensemble Lounge on deck 5. We were all escorted off together but never left the terminal. Showed our Passports to the customs agent and back on the ship. Yes you are allowed back to your cabin at anytime. Not much different than RCs TAD procedures.

The discount is considered a perk by Celebrity. There are times when a booking offer includes an option that makes a further perk, such as the bonus for booking a B2B, unavailable.

I wish Celebrity would define a policy for B2B's, same for every ship etc. We have done many and the best we ever got was a meeting in the lounge (there were quite a few of us) where we were offered coffee and pastries and we were given a free lunch in Bistro on 5 (now you know this was a while ago since B on 5 is long gone) We were also given a voucher for a bag of free laundry. We were a happy bunch!

I have read of those who have been invited to a lunch in the dining room on embarkation day of the second leg. Never have had this. We also have gotten a discount of $100 (for 15 day) off each leg, off just one leg, and nothing at all until I asked. It varies all over the map, thus my initial comment.

We have always gotten something sent to our cabin the night before the end of the first leg as to how they are proceeding.

Both legs have to be booked close to each other. Is that why it was denied?

We have a B2B on Silhouette for March 2019 both legs were booked at the same time, also we have a B2B2B in the Eclipse for Sept/Oct 2019 booked the 3 legs at the same time. They say this discount it's not available in Mexico

On our last B2B cruise on the Equinox they had a lunch in the MDR for all us B2B'ers. Agree it is inconsistent from ship to ship. But we have always received the B2B discount for each leg. Never had to ask for the discount but maybe because we book while onboard.

Actually, the one we had to ask for was booked on board! To give the guy the benefit of the doubt, he might have been new at the job.

I know each of us have had dissimilar expeienes but the basics are:

1. Your charges for the initial cruise will be closed out.

2. A new boarding pass/card will be issued. Once they sent the new card the night prior to our SR. Another cruise they had us go to the Desk to get the new card, and insure old card is closed out.

3. Wine/Alcohol bought during the initial cruse that was held by the ship was brought to the SR the night prior. So you have all of it available for your enjoyment (in your SR) on the next cruise.

4. For a US switchover port, you’ll leave the ship and go as a group through immigration. You’ll then normally go back on board and go on a tour and so on treating it like another port.

5. In Europe/Asia (overseas) switchover port, the port of call is treated just like a another port. Go on tours; etc. No security equipments (at least in our experience of 3 Euro B2B’s).

6. If you have the same SR, nothing hangers. If you change SR’s, check with your steward to coordinate with the new SR steward on moving. Pack your stuff that’s in drawere/not hanging up in your suitcases; the Stewards will bring a clothes cart and take your hanging clothes and suitcases to your new SR.

7. The most important thing: the day prior to the switchover, enjoy the day and evening just like it’s just another at sea day and secretly chuckle as everyone else has to pack up and get their brains set to return to ‘reality’.

enjoy! We Love B2B’s.

We have never done a b2b stateside but have in San Juan and have never had to exit the ship. Just to clarify all US ports are not experiencing the same protocol.

True statement. But in the OPs case being on the Equinox out of POM they will be escorted off and back on the ship.

Just did b2b on Eclipse. TAD was in Dublin and there was no luncheon for b2b cruisers...probably because there were over 430 of us! We did not have to get off the ship, but they did take our Sea Pass from the 1st cruise and hold it for a few days before returning it. There seems to be something with Celebrity's check out and check in system that necessitates that they hold the "old" Sea Pass for a few days because it may still be useable until the new card is set up. We always have this problem on Celebrity, but, never on RCL when we do a b2b.

There is nothing that necessitates that they hold the "old" seapass cards. Doing that is a relatively recent practice.

We were told that they had a problem with some passengers who tried to punch back in with their old card without even checking the date on it, holding up the check-in line and setting off alarm signals.

So they decided to take away the old cards and store them in a back room, instead of returning them to the passengers immediately, as they had always done previously.

They will still give the old cards back to passengers who want them. Whether or not they will do it right away seems to vary depending on who is running the turnaround procedures on that cruise.

If they don't let you have them back right away, on some cruises they will send them back to your cabin at a later time, without your even needing to request them.

But on other cruises they may forget (or simply don't want to bother and hope that the passengers will forget about them).

If your old cards are not returned to you automatically and you want them back, you can get them from Guest Relations.

(If you are in a suite, of course the suite concierge can get them back for you.

The concierge class concierge may do the same for concierge class passengers -- I don't know.)

I always thought that as well. But just did a B2B with turn-around in Alaska and we did not have to get off the ship. We 'checked out' with a machine inside the ship's doors (not sure if it was physically located right outside the door or inside, but we stayed inside), met in the Rendezvous, got new cards, had our pictures taken and checked back in with the same machine in the same place inside the ship. Done.

A voucher for laundry bag should be provided. I note that one is provided for cruises of 12 days or more but not sure that includes back to back. We have a 10+9 coming up this winter and that voucher sure would be appreciated.

No laundry vouchers for B2B cruisers.
