Old As Dirt Mom Posted April 4, 2018 #2 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Thanks for all your hard work. You asked for format feedback on your other thread where you listed by month rather than ship. Speaking for myself, I prefer the listing by ship, thank you.
Alberta Quilter Posted April 4, 2018 #3 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Thank you for taking this task on. I do have one suggestion: in your thread title, would you please put the year? For example, this one would be "April/18 Update..." or "April, 2018 Update...". I'm thinking that when one searches for the thread, in the future, it will make it easier to find the most current thread. I also prefer the listing by ship rather than the month. Straitlover Posted April 4, 2018 #4 Share Posted April 4, 2018 Like the posting! Hopefully that Road Scholar group on Noordam in June is small :). Dave Koz must have a lot of fans to need two back to back full charters, LOL!

Happily@Sea Posted April 4, 2018 #6 Share Posted April 4, 2018 (edited) Like the posting! Hopefully that Road Scholar group on Noordam in June is small :). Dave Koz must have a lot of fans to need two back to back full charters, LOL! I've been on 40 Road Scholar programs, there has never been a group of more than 40 - usually quite a few less. On my Zuiderdam partial Panama Canal - we had 16 incl the leader; on our Westy Hawai`i/So Pac cruise we had 12 including leader. My biggest water cruise group - 16-day river boat in Europe - had 36. Road Scholar only offers Int, OV and basic veranda in their room choices - anything higher must be booked independently by participant. Any more questions? I will try to answer to the best of my knowledge. Edited April 4, 2018 by Happily@Sea

Happily@Sea Posted April 4, 2018 #11 Share Posted April 4, 2018 I often have wondered how large this group was. Thank you for explaining about how large the groups are and about what choice of cabins they have.Very useful information. If one of the smaller ships [Grande Caribe, Victory I&II, etc] that sail in US - Great Lakes, east coast - you might be offered all categories [usually 5] but these are much smaller ships and their room classifactions are different. The larger ocean-going ships are usually restricted to the three classes I mentioned.

aa7yy Posted April 8, 2018 #17 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Just a question When you see something like "Bridge Group" or "Knitting Group" or "Mahjong Group" is/are these some sort of official group or just an invitation to people with interest ? Alberta Quilter Posted April 8, 2018 #18 Share Posted April 8, 2018 Just a question When you see something like "Bridge Group" or "Knitting Group" or "Mahjong Group" is/are these some sort of official group or just an invitation to people with interest ? It's an official group. For example, the quilters are organized by a specialized travel agent and they have quilting classes on sea days. They will usually eat together at one of the fixed times. Other groups, like Road Scholar, may have a lounge/theatre booked for lectures that are only for those in the program. Other passengers, with similar interests, should not attend. There was a quilting group on one of my cruises; our next door neighbour was part of the quilting group. She held Show & Tell in the hallway, showing us what they were making. I glanced in the room when passing by but that was as far as I went. On longer cruises, there may be an informal stitching/knitting session in an lounge. If there are these activities, they might be listed in the daily program. I believe this is also true of bridge sessions. Anyone can attend these sessions. But if they're not listed in the daily program, don't count on being welcomed to attend.

There are quilting groups on the Eurodam Hawaii itineraries. Do you have any idea how many people might be part of these groups? I found one TA online and it looked like they provided a room with sewing machines and in a picture they were displaying their work in the showroom but no indication of a limited group size.
