Okay. I'm ready for the onslaught. Dear God Carnival , I just read smoking is allowed in all dance clubs, God help me. So I can't go there , all the boards have commented about the interesting boat layout so I have to go thru smoke filled areas to easley navigate , last year on the Glory I had a great time but missed so much .... How difficult would it really be to go and smoke out the side of the boat where is is allowed and have at least 1 dance club non smoking... I have already resigned myself to no balcony but it would be nice to be able to enjoy the boat, and no don't refer me to a more restrictive cruise line, I want affordable just like everyone else..can't it be 50/50 no smoking in major transit spaces.....I have many friends who do smoke, they have no problem going to a different area, not one of them would have a problem with restrictions okay flame away I am ready

Which ship are you looking at? I've had the best luck with the Dream class ships but I don't do night clubs so it isn't an issue there.

OP.

Maybe look at booking a cruise on another cruise line that has stricter smoking policies to accommodate you. I know there are other choices out there.

I hope you find what you are looking for.

Sorry..that is the best advice to give when the policy is what it is ...

Not sure what the OP is looking for in an answer and just may be venting.. There are clearly enough threads on this subject ..

Just my 2 cents :)

Cheers from Pittsburgh via my iPone!!!

I agree. Other ships are more pointed in terms of prohibiting smoking. Carnival is not. I'm not a smoker yet that doesn't bother me. There are options for everyone. I also agree there are plenty of threads on this subject.

I am a smoker, but I don't do the clubs. I cannot dance.:o

I am on my balcony or in the permitted smoking areas.

I have to say, even when I go to the Casino, it's SMOKEY. I don't even smoke in there. It's gross.

Sorry!:(

Smoking is only allowed on non-Spa balconies, sections on one side of the ship outside, the smoking section in the casino, a dance club and a jazz club...... but you want 50/50.

Okeydokey.

This just may be me, but in the cruises I have been on I can't really say I have run into to many smokers. And even walking through spots I don't recall anything being smoky. I can understand if it bothers folks. You can't please everyone. If I was near someone smoking I just usually go to a different place. I am not going to judge them or condemn them.

Seems that she wanted info on the dance club. If they are all smoking then it isn't 50/50...

Thankfully I was able to stop smoking 6 1/2 years ago. DH continued another 4 years (including in our home). Other people's smoke has never bothered me unless it is blown directly at me. However, on our 2012 Pride CTN, they apparently allowed cigar smoking in the Starry Nights Lounge. The stench was horrendous, could not spend 2 minutes in there. I am so hoping there is no longer cigar smoking in that lounge.

Really ! I am trying to be fair, if half of the nite clubs dance events were non smoking and I can not hold my breathe the entire length of the casino to get from one place to another...I even tried the casino I went so early in the am hoped I could fine a non smokey little space , LOL of course a lovely older woman saddled on up w her walker, her portable ashtray which she popped down on the chair she dragged over as a drink and ashtray holder , and chain smoked one after another , mind u literally the entire room was virtually empty I need a sign please don't smoke here for 10 minutes please I ended up fleeing the spot....That's all I ask ...well from the other messages on the boards in other threads , life is a gamble and u can't get want u want, so I guess it's just go and shut up...but I can't help myself

I'm just off the Splendor. Unfortunately the smoke smell doesn't seem to stay in the designated areas. I'm an ex smoker so I'm able to see both sides of it now.

I agree with you on what you would like to see. I have never been able to enjoy the piano bars and places like that on Carnival that everyone enjoys because I can't breathe there. I avoid the casino area and anywhere else that smoking is allowed. There are a lot of people out there that smoke and I think Carnival wants to keep them coming. Smokers also drink and a lot of them gamble which is a money maker for them.

It doesn't really look like Carnival is interested in changing their smoking policies. You can go with them and deal with the smoke or you can look at other options. You want affordable and there are other cruise lines out there that have stricter smoking policies that you can book that are not much different in price than Carnival. All of our cruises have been what I consider affordable and when I am looking for a cruise I always look at all lines. Don't assume that you can't book one on another line that isn't within your price range. The Spa Balconies on Carnival don't allow smoking so you have that option for booking a balcony although it is more expensive.

I am a smoker. I don't like that I am, but I am.

I think that if you look around, you can find cruise lines that for the value with their packages of things that you'll spend money on otherwise, as cheap or cheaper than Carnival on an all-in basis.

Every year, I go on a Thanksgiving cruise on Celebrity. Their smoking restrictions are sheer torture for smokers. Especially on days of crummy weather. But they are a far better value and a higher quality product (I think) than Carnival.

Look around.

Because of their policies, I like to cruise Carnival. Others I travel with want a more upscale cruise. When the price all in is about the same, I cruise on other lines, even though I find their smoking restrictions almost unbearable.

Come out of the elevator on whatever floor the casino is on and immediately get smacked with the smoke. All the money for these vessels and they can't invest in a great ventilation system. Seems they would want everyone in the casino or do the non smokers not gamble? We don't smoke and would love to go in the casino. Celebrity seems to do well and they don't allow it at all. Princess does 2 smoke free nights and it's stale but bearable to enjoy some gaming.

Just off the Dream myself and friend. She smokes and I don't. I can tell you she had a hard time finding a place to smoke. I think the cruise lines are moving more towards the non smoking. In years past it was terrible. I am satisfied and cant expect anything else from them. Have to give .....

Does anyone know if smoking is allowed in ALL dance clubs. Seems it's now only in one on most ships.

Just a question ... not trying to start a debate.

It's something those who smoke would like to know and those who don't want to avoid so this info is helpful to all.

Having just recently (2 1/2 weeks) stopped smoking, I do see what the fuss is about and agree with the original poster. Cigarette smoke does stink (admittedly, I still love it). As long as there is a place for a smoker to go and enjoy a cigarette nearby (maybe a 5 minute walk), there is no need for smoking in the clubs. I got to the point that I was used to having to go outside, find the smoking area and have that cigarette - it didn't bother me in the least.

We have been on 3 Carnival cruises and one Princess cruise. We had to walk through the casino on Princess to get through the dining room and I never smelled anything. My DH is not a smoker either and says he has not smelled anything. I was reading on one of the lines, it may have been Cunard, that a have a great ventilation system. I guess it all comes down to you do what you need to do to make your self comfortable. You think they would come up with a really good ventilation system. Smoke can hit more people in different ways.
